Sadly, I attended a funeral service the day after Christmas. The family decided to have the services here versus the deceased individual’s church. Later, I discovered that the church didn’t have enough parking to accommodate the guests. However, the same could have almost been said about the funeral home. We arrived just as the service was beginning, so people were already parking on the sides of the graveyard close to the chapel. Imagine if it had been really wet, this would have made for a messy situation. Thankfully, the rain held out until after the service was over. After dropping off my pasengers who couldn’t walk too far, I ended up parallel parking away from the chapel. This worked out well for them, but as I walked back to the chapel, I noticed that the paved parking lot would have been accessible from the back where I dropped off my passengers. I would have been nice to have a sign stating this or someone directing traffic at the funeral home so people could have parked closer to the chapel. Nevertheless, I actually ended up parking in the right place because we didn’t go to the gravesite which was actually not at Paradise. I drove my car back on Montgomery and came around on McCleary(I think that’s the name of the street) which dead ends in front of the funeral home. I’m glad there is more than one way to enter and exit this place! As far as the venue is concerned, it was more spacious then I thought. No one was left standing and the deceased had eight children, so you know she had many immediate family in attendance. There isn’t much room up front, but there is a little space to the right where the piano sits for a small choir to sing and the minister to give his eulogy on the left side of the altar. Additionally, the pews have foot rests for those to relax their feet, especially those with heels on. The restrooms are quite small and can get crowded with just a few people inside, so choose your break time wisely if you decide to attend a funeral here. Additonally, if you decide thatv sitting in the pews is too crowded for you, there are couches, chairs, and ottomans in the lobby to sit on and still hear the service. Although it is difficult to say goodbye to a loved one, Paradise did an excellent job providing a quality and memorable service for my family and friends.
