This place isn’t bad, but it’s not REALLY good either. It’s just decent barbecue. Nothing special about it. Food is good, but everything is so ridiculously overpriced. I’ve had better barbecue for cheaper. Also, the brisket seems to be hit or miss. Sometimes it’ll be really nice and moist, and other times it’ll be dry. One thing they usually don’t mess up though, is the ribs.

I took my parents here for lunch on a Sunday, and even though my father got the all you can eat ribs, everything came with so much food that he didn’t need to or want to go back for seconds! Yeah, it’s a little on the pricey side, but I have never been able to eat everything in one sitting, not without making myself miserable. Plus I love their«juice» drinks. I know it’s not truly juice, but it does have chunks of fruit in it, so it is at least juice-like, and it’s tastier than soda. The watermelon one is my favorite, although they had one for a while that hat cayenne pepper in it, and it was really something special. I haven’t seen it in a while, which is a shame. My main complaint is that I don’t actually like their barbecue sauce. I usually get stuff to go and then use my own sauce at home, but that may just be me being picky. It’s not consistent, in my opinion. Sometimes it’s too spicy and sometimes it’s too acidic, but it’s never the right blend of sweet and spicy for my liking. And it’s thin. Also, I’ve found(and a quick look at some of the other reviews confirms) that their poultry tends to be on the dry side. Not always, but several times I have ordered the chicken in an attempt to be healthier and it’s very dry. I really enjoy the brisket and the pork sausage, though. Overall, it’s a good deal for the price because of shear quantity of food, and they’re friendly when you come inside to eat. Always feel at home when I come in.

I ate here a couple days ago, I got the chopped beef baked potato and my boyfriend got a rib platter plate. It was okay, kind of greasy and could use some more seasoning but on the other hand my boyfriend liked his rib platter. The service was good… Oh and i forgot to order this drink the last time i went but the cantaloupe juice is really good!

This place was disappointing. I had the Turkey, green beans and yams. The turkey was bland, the green beans were tasty and the yams were good. The entire meal could have been served hotter. It seemed like it had been sitting in containers for a while. J– had a chicken baked potato and he pretty much hated it. The place is clean but the bathroom could have been nicer. The vent was really dirty and it makes you wonder how clean everything else is. I was really hoping this restaurant was as good as their other brands but it’s not. I would not recommend this place to my friends and will most likely never return.

I’m from up north so I don’t get a lot of good BBQ. I thought this place had excellent lunch specials and the food was delicious. They had BBQ loaded baked potatoes that I hadn’t seen anywhere else and also several salad options which made it easier to make the meal(slightly) healthier. I had pulled pork and pork ribs — they were both great.

First time dining here and when I walked through the door the smells got me excited. Unfortunately I was expecting much tastier bbq since it smelled so great. I had the mixed combination plate. I didn’t care for the orginal bbq sauce, I prefer it much sweeter. Maybee because I had some ribs the night before from Rudy’s so my expectations were high. Still worth checking out you might like it better than I did. Service was good have nothing bad to say about that

Another review that I wish I could give half a star. I really like papas its really the only BBQ place near my house so we eat here pretty often. I love the Sunday rib special the ribs are always tender and flavorful. They brisket and sausage is also good. They have a hidden gem here though and that is the smoked chicken I’ve had it twice now and it was incredibly tender with a hint of smoke and a nice crispy skin. You can get it on the lunch special with two sides for like $ 9.50 it was great. I have a slight complaint though. The potato salad and spicy rice which are my two favorite sides here are never consistent. some times the potato salad is more like vegetable salad with hardly any potatoes. And this may seem to be not very smart of me but sometimes the spicy rice is incredibly spicy almost un edible or not spicy at all which is a let down. Rarely do I go in and have them both when they are perfect usually one or the other is off. The service from the counter is always nice and I love the massive drink cups that you get because I need a lot of sweat tea with my Texas BBQ on a hot day.

I got 3lbs of sliced beef and 2lbs of sliced turkey for a group. Meat at Pappa’s consistently tastes good and is really tender. If you are a hard-core Texas BBQ connoisseur, they are average. However, if your looking for good BBQ, need it in bulk, and don’t want to smoke it yourself, this is a good place to get it. Btw, their mac-and-cheese(technically, it’s not macaroni noodles) is very cheesy and should be a hit with the kids. If you found this review helpful, please let me know. Thanks.

Ok, so i had this place togo and i really thought it was going to be the worst. I got the chopped beef sandwich, fries, and some ribs. The bark has a brown sugar rub that is nice and the ribs were cooked properly. The fries were great. The chop has a bit of sweetness and smoke which was nice. Overall i was pleasantly surprised how good this place was, especially since i don’t like most pappas establishments. Service was efficient, honest and polite.

1.5 stars rounded up to 2. Think bulk food. Was very disappointed in visiting this place for quality BBQ. Brisket was a little dry, and the ribs seemed to be too chewy. The sauce has a touch of vinegar, and for one who likes Kansas City type BBQ, this place fell way short. Then the sides are like bulk food. Gobs of creamy cheese around large macaroni noodles in the Mac n’ Cheese dish.. Potato salad was also like it came out of a bulk food container. Not very tasty. Overall, just not very good. There are many other BBQ places in town that far outshine this Pappas BBQ

I have to update this. I went back again for more pecan pie and I told Oscar about my previous experience and he went above and beyond and made it right for me. He remade my food but this time I elected for ribs and sausage with rice and mac n cheese. The sides were excellent. The jambalaya rice was really good! Mac n cheese was just as good. Rubs and sausage were really good as well! I have learned that the meat is great. Bbq sauce isn’t. If u come here don’t try the sauce. Just eat the meat !

I went here for lunch and had their lunch special which was pretty decent. They have a lot of options on the menu. I would not say their prices are great. The customer service was nice and the BBQ sauce was delicious. It was by no means exceptional barbecue but it was definitely good.

This place is one of my favorite bbq restaurants. I’m a downhome girl and this reminded me of places I used to eat when in college. The place is family oriented, and the staff is very friendly, especially the cashier. He’ll call me «young lady» and I’m almost 60. The food may seem to be overpriced but people need to remember how much food costs, and how long it takes to slow-cook brisket. I think they also pay a living wage to their employees, because you’ll see the same faces working there. And they’ve been there for the five years we’ve been eating there.

The service was great. But the food was horrible. Everything was dry! How does anyone have a steak with no juiciness or tenderness to it? Even if its BBQ! Prices are outrageous for the quality! Spent almost $ 40 for 2 people! Will NEVER come back! :(
