One Stop Business Center

Dear New Business Owners,
Welcome to Houston, Ya’ll! Last week I had the opportunity to visit in person, the «One Stop Business Center» at the City Hall Annex Bldg. on Bagby. It was as much fun as getting your tooth pulled. With gruff security guards and one memorable One Stop Employee. Apparantly one is asking too much, to want reasonably friendly service. So, people just starting a business, not familiar with the details of this «Center» and with the myriad of laws and red tape, this is your warning. Your presence may only bring forth a tired, aggressive mantra along several bits of misinformation.
If you need to visit the «One Stop»… I’m not sure if there was an actual parking lot for the Annex, but I was able to do the metered parking around the City Hall. Minimum payment will be $ 1.50 cash or debit/​credit card. Avoid going into City Hall, you’ll need to walk across Bagby, directly behind City Hall to the Annex Bldg. Enter at the ground level and walk up the stairs. After you go through Security, (remove belts, silver jewelry, cell phone) place in tray… then, you’ll take the elevator to «P» which stands for «Public», I suppose this represents Public Services? You’ll see in elevator the choices, P1, P2, and P, choose P. Exit to your left and around the corner is One Stop Business Center. If you must go in person, I sincerely hope you have a better experience.
I found the SCORE counselors to be friendly and helpful but also not noted on the website for the Palm Center location or the answering machine message, they are closed every 2^nd Thursday. Palm Center location is located at MLK and Griggs, behind the YMCA, beware of construction there. Their hrs. are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. first come, first served.
