Great ice cream! My kids favorite is Julia’s Secret, mine is the Honey! Come by to check out the pictures of patrons on the walls

Thanks to Alexander W. and friends who recommended this place! The area that this is in is kind of sketch. But maybe that’s why it’s so cheap! We tried Avocado, Toasted Almond, Dulce de Leche, and Honey Vanilla. My favorites were Toasted Almond and Honey Vanilla! Especially the almond! The texture of the ice cream does seem creamier — kind of like gelato — but maybe it was my imagination, I’m not sure. I was so enamored by the place! The place is so cheerful and kid friendly it’s really cute. The wall with the big bee and mirrors has all of these little kid-sized chairs. The bathrooms are cute too because they have a blacklight on paint and this«Bzzzzzzz» sound. Haha I love it. The husband said that the owners have dedicated the place to their daughter which I think is really sweet. It’s kind of out of the way for me but this will definitely be my weekend ice-cream spot from now on.

Children, it is about time we’ve had a little talk about the birds and the bees… and the COW? Did I just make Unilocal… PG-13? Moo Hive uses honey(instead of sugar) to create their homemade ice cream. This gives the frozen treat a more rich and thicker texture. I don’t really have a sweet tooth so I cannot judge the quality of the ice cream, except I really liked it. I got a medium(3HUGE scoops for cheap) of honey vanilla, sweet milk(dulce de leches) and strawberry. I was disappointed that the Rum Raisin was sold out. See if you can figure out the ingredients in the blue ice cream«Julia’s Secret.» It stung my taste buds awake. They also have fried ice cream(which I definitely have to go back and try), cakes and other assorted desserts. The dessert parlor is definitely catered to kids. It is decorated with bees and vibrant colors and there are collages of happy patrons on the walls. On the way to the bathroom you must pass through the hive. The honey-combed hallway is lit by a black light with a faint buzzing noise. The owner is really friendly and easy to talk to.

This place is delicious. What a neat concept«honey ice cream». The actual ice cream parlor is so nostalgic, with colorful walls and tiny stools for the kiddos. The place gives off a family owned vibe. I have only tried a couple flavors including honey vanilla, cinnamon banana, and rum raisin. The cinnamon banana had a great subtle cinnamon flavor and the banana flavor complimented the cinnamon very well. The rum raisin, was delish. It must of had a whole bottle of Captain Morgan in there, because it was quite strong making it taste even better. But the winner of the day was the underdog, the simple Honey Vanilla! The flavor was simple and very delicate. The honey flavor was a welcome change from the run of the mill«Blue Bell» type ice cream. The ice cream had a very dense honey like consistency, but was still melt in your mouth perfect. The prices are very affordable. The small being about $ 2.50ish and the large(serves at least 2) is only $ 3.50ish. They do close early at 8 pm during weekdays, so come early! The area is a bit shady, but well worth the venture out. They have fried ice cream and ice cream cakes too. I must try those next!

Located in a southwest Houston strip mall filled with other local businesses, ice cream lovers will be drawn to Moo Hive for its kid-friendly décor and genuine homemade ice cream and other tasty treats. Moo Hive offers patrons a wide-range of flavors from old favorites Chocolate and Vanilla to the harder to come by Black Raspberry(my personal favorite), Black Cherries, and Mango. Whether you choose to pair your creamy Moo Hive ice cream with a fresh baked waffle cone or in a cup with all the fixins, you won’t be disappointed with the outcome. And you can’t beat the prices. If you are hungry for good old fashioned comfort food, Moo Hive also offers Frito pie and chili-cheese nachos. Moo Hive also offers a rewards program for frequent customers. I know I’ve taken advantage of a free cup of Black Raspberry ice cream on my birthday.

This was a good little find one weekday while getting some boring ID-related things done. It was like a beacon of hope amidst the dull scenery of worn expressionless mini malls(I mean, just look at how much work they put into putting the storefront together!). My aunt and I went in and met the proprietors – a nice family that is enthusiastic about their product. The ice cream is made on-site and they have a good range of classic and slightly atypical flavors. The use of mostly honey as sweetener(a bit of sugar is needed or else the ice cream won’t freeze) makes for a wonderfully light taste(as in no overly sweet aftertaste action). I opted for the mango and vanilla and both were extremely good. It was almost refreshing in a way that I can’t totally explain because of the honey. Definitely worth the trek out there and feel free to try all the flavors. If the location was much closer to more foot traffic(or I guess in Houston it would be driving traffic), I’m sure it would make a killing. PS: Apparently they don’t charge for using the dining area for kids parties and believe me, the kids will love the décor and the ice cream.

What is better than ice cream? Ice cream with honey instead of processed sugar. These people are geniuses! Although in a very weird location for the product, Moo Hive seems to still be going strong. The couple that owns the store is first class — they really know what it means to have good customer service, and they enjoy sharing their s tory with you. Even if you’re not a big honey fan, try Moo Hive at least once. You’ll be surprised at the quality of the ice cream and the fact that the honey taste is so subtle. The chocolate is the best, because there’s this really slight honey aftertaste to it that gives you an extra bit of satisfaction.

This place is a hidden jewel, tucked away in an area you wouldn’t expect, but is worth the drive, and I drove all the way from Humble to check it out! This quaint little place is decorated with beehives, and very suitable for kids(but fun for adults alike). It is owned by a wonderful hard-working couple that can often be found in the ice cream shop. There ice creams are rich, creamy, and melts-in-your-mounth, and are sweetened with real honey(which doesn’t make it low fat, but unique and delicious). To top all of that off, the ice cream is indeed made right there in their very own little shop! The cookies and cream as well as the cheesecake are my favorites, but they will let you taste as many as you like until you find your favorite. You gotta try it out, and bring the kids if you have some or a date, or just sneak in by yourself for a little treat! I will definitely be back!
