Meet the Elites meat Ruth’s Chris 90 point dinner

Mind was blown when I found out what «Newfoundland steak» was thanks to the Trailer Park Boys. This review is about real steak/​what you expect traditional steak to be when you say steak without the quotation marks.
I was honored to be asked to attend this event as an ambassador of Unilocal dot com (not just as my beautimous private citizen self) and it was a $ 95+ per person dinner, which is out of my price range for a regular night out on the town alone tbh.
You are basically required to valet. You might have other options if it isn’t Friday night at rush hour. I think if the valet sitch was better addressed like «free 4 u beautiful :-)» or «get ready to hemorrhage money asshole!!!» with clear signage seen from Westheimer that might help things out a bit in this new space, especially compared to how it is more clearly set out in other cities.
This year is the 50^th anniversary of RC; when Ruth Fertel took a second mortgage on her house to acquire the Chris steak house in Nawlins. She staffed her biz with single mothers at the time, saying they were reliable hard workers. For many years, Chris’ Steak House was the only upscale restaurant in NO with an all-​female wait staff. While it’s a chain, we should support that sort of empowerment.

The items we sampled were somewhat experimental I was told, like, you can’t order this stuff off of the menu as a normie paying customer. That is why even though it was just two of us, it wouldn’t be right to put this under their normal biz page to make the rest of y’all jelly.
The service was impeccable. These waiters were the nicest; the wine pourers the most polite I have had in quite some time. The service alone is five stars. The foods, wines, aesthetic, atmosphere, and transparency all bring up the rear to support all five stars.
Overall the wine pairings were top notch. I am not a fan of whites even when it is free, but this one I actually finished all the way down the hatch. The pinot was by far the show stopper and the one to measure up against though. The Irishman, not wine, was just as enjoyable on first sip as my pinot. All in all, a well curated list of bevs. Far superior to the free white wines I was used to at the High Table in Oxford, which made me hate the whiteys.
2^nd course is the one I had been looking forward to all week when I got the heads up I was attending this thing. Boomers? That is all me fam. These mushrooms are the sort you would write home to mama mia about, unless you are Mario, in which case you write home to your husband Luigi about. The polenta with blue cheese was a sight and texture to behold, it really sold the entire thing all the way deep down into Taste Town. This dish is the new Mayor-​Sheriff of Taste Town (and incidentally, wants to incorporate the unincorporated Megaton into the fold, definitely not a Tenpenny Tower scheme at all.)
The 1^st course with the tuna was fantastic, though the server lady saying it was spicy and be careful, no hon, it wasn’t. It was nice. But literally not even a mild on the scale of people who eat food. Great presentation, but not spicy at all.
The third course was the weakest, if only because it was actually the blandest on all counts. This was just like the Ned Flanders course of room temp tap water and untoasted white bread. Maybe this was the palate cleanser for a reason before the steak entrée, but it just lacked all excitement all of the other courses had.
The steak was fab. I was expecting a tiny sliver but we got a portion. Nearly everyone at our fourth class «media» table (which didn’t get any raffle tickets for the thing at the end) was getting a to-​go bag for the steak and one of the sides since we were starting to get a bit full. The peppercorn was inoffensive and the steak had the classic sizzle. My medium rare came up about where I expected. Juxtaposed with the carnitas course before it, it was perf. Mac and cheese was far superior to the brussels sprouts. The portion size of the mac and cheese was tiny, but the brussel sprouts portion was large enough to feed and clothe the army, navy, and Chair Force of Mordor.
The dessert course hit the maximum extent of the American decadence I can live with. So in a word, it was beautiful. The espresso whipped cream was fantastique and I would fill up my bathtub with it and splash around in it. I like this espresso whipped cream that much and you will too.
An amazing Friday night out on the town with too much food, good wines, excellent wine pairings, an upscale space/​atmo, and tremendously pleasing company with Ako.
If RC as a chain wanted to make a fabulous impression on me today, they absolutely knocked that one out of the park. They treated me like a princess and I got to eat my cake too. If I had that kind of money and a regular dining companion that was good company I would become a regular fixture at these wines of the world events.
