Master Hitch

Purchased our first hitch at the recommendation of Bike Barn in 1999. We called to make certain it could be installed the same day. We were assured it would be done. We arrived and waited our turn. Before we could say a word, Steve already knew who we were and what we needed!
The service was fast, friendly, and price was very reasonable. I was so impressed with their service and product that it was etched into my memory all this time.
Fast forward more than 15 years later… We needed to add running boards to our SUV. Purchased a set from the dealership, but didn’t want to pay their premium for the installation. I remembered Master Hitch, but didn’t know if they would accept the job. Called and was told it would be no problem!
Went into town Saturday afternoon and had the running boards installed in less than an hour! Now, if I only remembered/​knew they sold aftermarket running boards before I purchased the OEM ones, I would have saved a lot more money!

Awesome job. Needed a hitch at last minute to haul a trailer for move out of town. Drove in and they took care of me immediately. Professional service, TV while you wait. These guys know their stuff. And lots of truck goodies to shop while you wait.

I needed to get a hitch done quickly due to an upcoming charity cycling event and recently bought a new car that my bike does not fit in. Based on the previous reviews, I decided to come to this place and it was a great experience. Scott was very helpful both on the phone when I called in advance as well as in-​person. Installation took about 40−45mins and I was done. Great customer service and excellent knowledge of all the products. I’d come here again or recommend anyone looking to get a hitch installed to come here. You won’t be disappointed.

Over the past 8 years, I have had half a dozen experiences with Master Hitch in Houston-​Bellaire. ALL have been 5 star. To sum it up… The last 10 years of my career with Chevron Inc were as the Corporate-​level Procurement Alliance Manager for 5 key suppliers of oil biz related critical equipment and after-​sale services. The Company spent between $ 25 — $ 200,000,000 per year with each of those companies and part of my job was to literally travel the world instructing both Chevron & Supplier personnel in our expections from these huge, complex, sole source contracts. I used Master Hitch as my example of what the highest level of customer service looks like. Tom, I told you I was doing this… :-)
A couple recent examples: yesterday on a busy Saturday, Tom took the time to find me a supplier of services outside what they offer, i.e. weigh individulal wheels on a dual axle race car trailer.
A month ago, also on a busy Saturday, Bubba took on an assistant and finished a 6 hour job in 3 hours because I really needed that complete brake overhaul done right now. Bubba also noted some incipient cracks on my tailer connection which i hadn’t seen. Dec 11, i’ll get that fixed with them. Don’t be put off because they are busy;’ Master Hitch is busy because they are the best. I predict you will leave them thinking, «wow, those Unilocal reviews were 110% accurate.»

Tom was knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. He got me right in and the staff everything installed in about an hour. Final price was even less than he quoted. I’d recommend them in a heartbeat.

I’ve used Tom and Master Hitch for over a decade and continue to be impressed with their service level.

I needed a hitch for a civic at the last minute. These guys took care of me. Had the hitch and installation kit in my hands minutes after I got there, and would have installed it for me right away if I hadn’t preferred to do it myself. Sure, they were more expensive than ordering it off amazon, but having a retail location and stock both costs more and makes up for the difference. The staff seems personable, professional, and competent, and I look forward to coming back.

I had looked at a number of places in Houston for a trailer hitch for my BMW X5. I call Master Hitch and Tom was helpful and very informative. I took it in a few days later and they had my hitch installed and on my way in 2 hours. I wish I had found them earlier. Great work and service!

Tom Sams is usually the man up front at Master Hitch that has the balls for your hitch. (Wait wait wait… I’m playing with words now. Tom is actually a great father and husband but he started this balls thing that I can’t help but remember when I see him. Eewwww…
Seriously– He helped me keep my old dually and gooseneck trailer equiped and safe for 7 years now. That’s important when you are hauling trees in a trailer in the city of Houston. Tom only hires the best of help and this business is top notch. I am proud to know Tom because he is a good, knowledgeable and honest business man (like in those old black and white movies).

I have a 36 year old Finnish sailplane trailer that had problems with the wheels and hubs. I was preparing to move from Houston to California and was very concerned that the trailer wouldn’t make it there without failing. I thought that perhaps Master Hitch could find new hubs and wheels for me but recommended replacing the entire trailing suspension axel with easy grease hubs and new wheels. I did not even realize that that was a cost effective option. The work was done quickly with a focus on reducing costs. Towing the trailer to California was flawless and it was so nice to have the peace of mind that the trailer was in great shape for the move.

woodlands location review: They fixed a problem that 2 other places couldn’t fix. Both workers were fast, friendly, and had decades of experience. Price was fair. This place won’t disappoint you.

I had a hitch put on my car by these guys and they did great work. I use the hitch mostly for my bike rack. Recently, I had to travel out of town for a bike tour and realized my bike rack was missing the pin that helps keep it in the up position. I went over to Master Hitch to see if they had anything that would work. The man working there came out to the car and said he knew exactly what I needed. He went in found a pin and installed it in my bike rack and told me to have a nice day. I tried to pay, but he said to not worry about it. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone.

Yesterday I would have given Master Hitch 5 stars. I had been a customer for many years. Today, I will not spend another dollar with them. Their service is great, but what you do after the sale is done is what really counts. This is where I take issue with them. 10 years ago I bought a load leveling hitch from them and was told it had a Lifetime warranty. It broke, so I took it back to them today and nope sorry this has been very used, we will not warranty it. Well No service after the sale no business from me again. I have in the past bought bumpers, a couple of trailer hitches, this load leveling hitch, and had brake controllers installed in several vehicles. I will take my business elsewhere that appreciates it.

I used the Master Hitch in The Woodlands, but this is a family company and it is a new location on Rayford/​Sawdust, so reviewing here on this store because I didn’t see an entry for the one I visited, but they are a quality place it appears.
I just had a hitch installed on my 2011 Lexus RX350. I called, drove straight there, and had a hitch installed in less than 30 minutes. It looks good too… hardly anything showing so you wouldn’t even notice it unless I said «hey look at it.»
The installer was the part owner/​operator of the store, and has been doing it for awhile since it is the family business. He was very knowledgeable, honest and maticulous with it looking good. I appreciate that for what you pay for cars these days… certainly don’t want a hack job!
Additionally, it was very reasonable, and he used some parts I already owned and also gave me tips on trailering (I’m a girl, and have towed twice in my life. with someone else getting me set up, loaded etc…) Price was more than half ‘less’ than what the dealership was going to charge me.
I was pleased, and would recommend Master HItch to anyone needing a hitch installed. Probably has what you need in stock.

Master Hitch are the best in Texas… probably the best in the nation for auto and truck accessories. Proffessional, courteous, knowledgeable, fast and reasonable. Highly reccommend… have been going to them for many years always with excellent results and, they stand behind their product. They are also patient with their mature clients. ;o)

After over ten calls to a nearby U-​haul, I gave up. They kept promising to call me back later — as soon as the hitch for my Subaru came in. I forgot entirely about having a hitch installed on my car until a friend told me about Master Hitch. He had a hitch installed on his Audi A4 and he said the staff at Master Hitch seemed professional and really interested in installing the hitch properly. I gave them a call and spoke to someone who clearly cared about the business. They had the hitch in stock, so I drove right down and they installed it. The job took less than 40 minutes and it cost about $ 40 less than the flunkies at U-​haul quoted me. Don’t go to U-​haul — have a hitch installed professionally at Master Hitch.
