If you go on Tuesday for the half price Teas, this place is probably amazing. If you go any other night of the week, you end up paying about $ 32+tip for two large drinks that are not that impressive. I saw a fair amount of alcohol get poured into the Teas, so it’s fair to say that they are at least a double if not more so. But they remind me of fruity college drinking, think trash can punch where you don’t really taste the booze. There are also pretty good happy hour specials all week(M-F, 2−8pm), but I went too late on the wrong day. I would go back on a Tuesday or Wednesday($ 3 wells) to partake in Happy Hour and that visit might get this place a 4 rather than a 3.

Nice clean hole in the wall with strong BIG drinks. It’s very roomy a nice place to hang out with your friends. They also have plenty TV’s if you’re interested in watching the game, a great happy hour 4−8pm Mon/Fri. Stop by check it out for yourself and thank me later! But don’t tell everybody about my spot Shhhhh!

My friends told me about their Texas Teas on Tuesdays so I decided to show up and give it a try. I was warned that these are very strong and can get you feeling real good lol. $ 8 per Texas Tea. Why not? There’s also a sign up by the wall where they will only limit you to 3 Teas for the night. I was able to get to almost 4 that night before I called it quits lol. I didn’t pay close attention to what the bartender was pouring in these tall glasses, but I definitely remember seeing bottles getting empty through these glasses sitting on the counter. There are other flavors which are not on the Tuesday special so get ready to throw down $ 20/glass if you plan to get those. Overall, this place was great to sit and lounge for a bit. The parking lot is cramped and you do have some activities such as shuffle board and pool on one side of the bar.

HUGE alcohol filled«tea» drinks. Looks a little shady from the outside, but has been recently renovated. Nice comfy couches, pool and plenty of seating. Very friendly bartenders and plenty of TVs if watching sports is your jam. If you are looking for a quick place to get sloshed, this should be your first stop!

If I’m not on Bellaire drinking hard core liquor I come here for their Long Island Ice Teas! These drinks are super big, but they’ll cost 15 bucks for one. Staff is usually attentive unless you’re here on a Tuesday! Instead of 15 dollars on regular day they sell them for 7 dollars on Tuesday’s. It’ usually a steal, but unfortunately I can’t make it on Tuesday’s because I work the next day! The long islands have different sorts of flavors, Red Bull being my favorite because I don’t like super sweet drinks. I recently found my new favorite flavor Island Punch! Yum! There’s also a limit of 3 long islands per customer. This is a chill spot for me to just hang out with close friends and relax if I’m not in a party mode. Not somewhere you have to dress up, just a comfortable surrounding with TV’s, a pool table, and that sandy slide game. On certain day’s they also have a food truck set out and boy is Flip N’ Patties delicious! I love it here!

This is a decent place for happy hour. Their Happy Hour is from open until 7ish(I can’t remember) exactly. But their Texas products are $ 4.00. So a Titos is a decent deal. Service is fine. Free shuffle board. This is a nice local bar with plenty of TVs and the occasional food truck. Note: They will cut you off if you are intoxicated and they adhere to their three drink policy for Teas.

A rude bartender made me to double think before going to this place again. He was arguing with me that why I am asking to taste a draft beer. I have never experienced this kind of attitude from a place like this.

Friendly neighborhood bar. Great bourbon selection. Food trucks are a plus. Could use peanuts, but the bartenders make up for it. Good place to watch sports, play shuffleboard, pool or darts. Good juke box.

Remodel from years ago is nice. Edit: updated to 4 stars as waitstaff(al) was friendly and attentive. Maybe the group of entitled frat boys who were here are not indicative of the usual clientele. The music was on point, great classic rock. I will give this place another shot!

If you need to drink on a Tuesday, this is the place to be. Their special is $ 7 Texas teas(aka a glass full of vodka and a splash of your choice of flavoring). The teas are pretty strong, so you’ll be getting a bang for your buck. They also have a variety of liquor and beers for those who don’t like vodka. The atmosphere is very casual and laid back. You can also bring in food to eat while you’re drinking, which is a plus.

All week I be been meeting with group from Canada that is working on a project for me at work. They had nothing but great things to say about how they have been treated here and how nice Texans are. I confirmed that yes, we are a nice bunch of people. I invited the group out to show them our beautiful city and because I frequent Marquis II a lot I chose to invite them there for a drink with me. In a stark contrast to the aforementioned comments, they were rudely turned away from the doors for being foreign. I didn’t want them to just walk away without at least talking to the person in charge so I asked the manager about his policy. The miserable little man behind the bar that I was referred to was very insistent that these people could not come inside his bar, so i told him he just lost my business(I’ve patroned his bar for years now). He didn’t even blink an eye before telling me to get out of his bar. I hope anyone who reads this will pass this little bar up and continue on to one that will not discriminate. .

So everyone knows Marquis II for its popular Texas Teas. The alcoholic drink that comes in a HUGE glass is served at a discounted price of $ 8 every Tuesday, therefore earning the phrase«Texas Teas Tuesdays». Lately my friends have been constantly raving about these delicious teas that come in over 10 different flavors, so it wasn’t long before I had to try it out for myself. Despite its Texas Teas being so popular, it did not manage to draw in a crowd to fill up the dark, gloomy bar, but they did pretty well for a Tuesday night. There’s a policy limiting the number of Texas Teas to 3 per person, but there was no need to warn me when to stop. As I watched the bartender fill ¾th of the giant glass with liquor, and the rest with mixers, I knew 3 of these bad boys were more than enough to get me loose. By the time I was starting my third one, I already had a pretty strong buzz going. Reason I gave it 2 stars was because the drink itself was not as great tasting as I had heard. In fact, it tasted awful. The liquor they used for those Texas Teas were the CHEAPEST kind you can find at the store, which explains the ridiculously low price of $ 8 for such a large drink with that level of alcohol content. It ALSO explains why it gave me the runs the next morning(and the rest of the day), and left my stomach feeling groggy the rest of the entire week. I would much rather pay the same price, perhaps even a little more, for a smaller drink with real liquor, than go back for another Texas Tea.

Marquis II is a very interesting place. The clientele at Marquis II is very diverse. I saw everything from businessmen to someone doing their homework to people dressed in camo. This diversity creates a very laid-back, come as you are environment, which is very refreshing. The set-up of Marquis is interesting. Tables and chairs are haphazardly placed everywhere. I imagine this is because the place can get pretty crowded later in the night. My favorite part about Marquis II is the Texas Tea Tuesdays! The normally $ 15 long island iced teas are only $ 8. They are pretty tasty too. The most popular is the Island Punch flavor, but I really liked the Peach one that I ordered.

I grabbed drinks here with 3 girlfriends a few nights ago, and honestly, I’m not really sure it’s the best spot for a girls night out. We sat at a table in the back and we had to stuff a napkin under our table to keep it from shaking. In addition, the music was so loud we had to practically yell to talk to each other, even though the bar wasn’t even that full. Marquis II is known for their alcoholic teas which are good, but are by no means good enough to charge $ 15 for one. I guess one cool thing about this place is that food trucks sometimes park out front and after a long night of drinking, a food truck right there is definitely a welcomed addition to the bar.

Orange Fanta Long Island Iced Tea?! I have never heard of such an amazing creation until I stopped by Marquis II. They have so many flavors that you can choose from and the vibe is very laid back. I met an older couple that was so down to earth and tried to convince me to move to Houston lol. Also met a lawyer that paid the entire bar’s tab. That’s Southern Hospitality for real! You have never experienced real long island ice teas until you come to this spot.

chill hole in the wall type of place. great place to start out the night. get the 32 oz texas tea($ 12 normally, $ 7 on tuesday nights) — you can get pretty faded off of 2 of these. they have cards and some board games. no one really plays though. I love that they have nbatv, so if you got nothing else going on and want to watch some nba with the guys, this is your place. also, a lot of food trucks post up here.

ATMOSPHERE: Tuesday nights has rightfully earned its title as «Asian Night». With that said if you hangout amongst the asian circle(whatever that entitles) be prepared to bump into all of your asian cousins, exs, high school friends, and etc. This does make the place lively, almost like a reunion of some sorts, but I agree with some other reviewers, if you can, PLEASE bring some of your nonasian friends. Some fresh faces and diversity puts me at ease. There are some pinup posters, leftover from the days when the bar used to be a strip club. meh. some could see that a objectifying women or art. To me it’s trashy art. They could do better. People are always really really lively here because of the cheap, easy to drink, therefore deceiving drinks. You will see typically tame girls be hyper and giddy. Seeing how theres lots of asians, if you’re tall, be prepared to feel tall. No smoking! YAY!!! No yucky smoke scented hair! I don’t have to shower at 3am in the morning before hopping into bed. DRINKS: When at the bar, I saw the drink menu which priced the Texas Teas as $ 12. I didn’t understand as to why, but it didn’t matter, because my tab came up to $ 7. As for flavor recommendation, my eye was veying out the PEACH or raspberry flavor, seeing how those are the best snapple flavors. Since the guy sitting next to me recommended the peach as «the best one», I went with that and boy was I happy. It was mellow, refreshing, with a good balance of sweetness. Probably one of the most drinkable alcoholic drinks I’ve had. ORANGE tasted exactly like gatorade with some vodka mixed in. GREEN tasted more tart, like lime. LONGISLAND which my friend had, wasn’t her favorite Only disappointment is I don’t taste any«tea» flavor in any that i’ve tried. DRESSCODE: You could get away with anything except, I would advise against glamourous club wear. Since the place is so chill, guys could come from a wedding or holiday party in their tux and still feel comfortable. There are people in scrubs and girl rocking red lips and statement necklaces, but since its a hipster bar divey place you should have fun with trendy fashion. PARKING: Park across the street near the Bank of America. Pretty easy. Nothing U of H students can’t handle. FOOD: Flippin Patties have some of my favorite fries, after Ohmygogi. Their friendly service will put a smile to your drunken face, but I don’t recommend the pork butt burger. Idk. it wasn’t even my choice. How is pork butt appealing is beyond me.

I only heard about this place because of the Tuesday Texas Tea deal, and one Tuesday night, my friends and I just decided to try it out. The first time I went, I had no idea that it was Asian night. Unfortunately, all the people I was with were not Asian, so they definitely felt a bit isolated. The next time I went, I was more prepared, and there was much more diversity(yay!). The Texas Teas are a great deal for the size and the amount of alcohol they put in them. I’ve tried the original($ 6) and the island punch flavor($ 7). I prefer the island punch. The bartenders are actually pretty decent. So far, I haven’t been ignored! The place itself isn’t well-preserved, but I just come here for the Texas Tea. Don’t really expect anything else out of the place.

Not going to lie, giggled at the lit up blackboard specifying that patrons are limited to three Long Island Iced Teas. This is Texas, ain’t nobody telling me I can’t drink more than three of something! Texas Dram Shop Act my arse! Then I had ONE Long Island Iced Tea and I couldn’t properly form sentences, well. .. words. And woke up with a wicked hangover… Right, so I’m a little older these days and could probably benefit from remembering to chug down a tall glass of water before I consume alcohol, and after. But I was never one to let proper good sense to slow me down. Marquis II is otherwise a tad divey, it’s sort of resembles a boxy shack from the outside. It is however sufficiently decked with televisions for you sporting buffs, random tables, coffee tables, and couches, a jukebox, and Flip ‘n Patties food truck was parked outside on this particular Tuesday. Just beware of the LIITs, you have been warned. Proceed with caution.

Grungy probably even isn’t the right word to describe this West U dive bar. Seedy is more apropos. Danielle S.‘s review is pretty spot-on in its skeezy construction. The big draw here are the Texas teas, which go on special on Tuesday. Get it? TTT? The drinks, frankly, look ghastly and more like something an Alpha Beta is sneaking to an unsuspecting Pi Delta Pi in order to secure a Greek Games date. Aside from that, the Marquis(why the II?) actually has somewhat of a hipster-ish viewpoint. They bring food trucks regularly(hence the reasons for my attendance), serve Texas craft beers, and possess multiple semi-ironic office chairs from the 80’s that are wildly uncomfortable to sit in. That said, the crowd is a mostly hipster-free zone. By the way, dude that got uncontrollably angry about the Texans getting creamed on MNF, then bailed on his team at halftime? I salute you and you drunken rage, sir.
