Lupe’s has delicious beef fajitas! The salsa is chunky and similar to a pico de gallo. The tables are small and the place gets very noisy. It is a very popular establishment and enjoyed by all ages. Most locations have a sand box for the kids. Lupe’s is worth a try if you’ve never tried it out.

Fajitas con filet mignon por una! Couldn’t wait to come back to Houston tonight to visit one of my favorite TexMex joints: Lupe Tortilla! And while I’d planned to come to *a* Lupe Tortilla, I learned when I posted a photo of my layout(food+beverage displaying the full perspective of this glorious experience) that this was the *same* location I frequented back in 2008! How serendipitous! We used to eat here a lot for team dinners when I worked in Houston for many months back in 2008/9, traveling here then from San Francisco. Ironically, I also ended up fulfilling a promise I’d made to myself in my last Unilocal review of this location in 2008 when I committed to trying the fajitas upon my return, and tonight I did just that! ;) I opted for filet mignon, and it was glorious. Delicious steak — still steaming & cooking upon arrival at the table. Amazing, home-cooked flour tortillas that would disappoint the very best of personal trainers(shhh, I won’t tell if you don’t). Guac, cheddar, salsa + beans, rice(can be skipped if limiting carbs) + sour cream & another sauce + lime. It was all splendid! Best part? I was stuffed this evening after eating only 1.5 fajitas(and filling up on chips & delicious flour tortillas), so I was stoked when I was offered a box, and decided to bring my leftovers back to the hotel.(Nothing better than returning«home» late at night after a long evening event and remembering leftovers like these are in the hotel fridge…) And even though my personal trainers would also not approve of the Blood Orange Margarita or all these carbs, I feel no guilt or shame, because I had been looking forward to this meal for weeks! #carboverload Also: great service! My server, and many others who came to say«hello» and check in on me as I was dining(I arrived close to closing time, since I had just landed from Dulles #blizzard2016) were super friendly. Definitely recommend!

I LOVETHEFAJITASATLUPETORTILLA! Their food and alcoholic drinks are amazing, but their absolute speciality are their fajitas! Whenever I go here, I always order a margarita and share a plate of fajitas. I usually get fajitas for 2 or fajitas for 4, which consists of a mix of beef, chicken, or shrimp. Their beef and chicken(ESPECIALLYTHEBEEF) is very juicy and tender, and very tasty. Their shrimp is also very delicious, and comes with an amazing butter sauce. The fajitas also came with lots of peppers(both red and green) and caramelized onions. The side dishes are your choice of beans and mexican rice, along with shredded cheese, pico de gallo, sour cream, guacamole, and lettuce. The tortilla at Lupe Tortilla are AMAZING! They are made at the restaurant and are served hot and fresh. They definitely are not store bought and taste amazing. In addition to tasting great, the tortilla is large enough in diameter so that one can easily wrap and fold the fajita — even if you overload it with filling. I also love their chips and salsa and bean dip. The salsa is not TOO spicy(atleast to me, who eats tons of spicy food), but I think it has a nice kick to it. Their chips are also very good — not too thick and not too thin. Also, I’m generally not a huge fan of beans dip, but I still like theirs a lot. I genuinely think the Tex-Mex here(especially the fajitas) are one of the best in the city of Houston. Whenever I have guests from out of town visit Houston, I always let them try the fajitas here since they deserve to try the best! I highly recommend this place to anyone who wants great Tex-Mex, in a nice festive environment. A good warning for first-time visitors: Because this place has amazing food and is popular in the city, it is usually packed during dinner time(say after 6pm, even on weekdays!). As a result, don’t be surprised if you have to wait to be seated during the peak hours. It’s all worth the wait!

Food is always tasty but today service was not good. After two requests we still do not have drink refills or hot sauce refills.

It’s always good always tasty, just try not to come here Friday dinner time or Saturday. If you come here within the weekends dinner time you won’t get the order that you ordered, or you won’t get the tasty great food that you always used too. (service wise) Most employees are okay, but some of the lady’s got attitude. Try to ask about a server name Ricardo he is excellent!

First off, let me say that this is the 3rd time I try this LOCATION and it sucks! I figured after a year of not coming to this one, they’d have better customer service but I was wrong. Our wait was 25 minutes which was no big deal. The problems started when our waiter arrived at the table. We had our menus but not the kids menu for my 2 year old so he went to grab that. I kid you not, almost 10 minutes later he returns with the menu. He proceeds to ask what beverages we’d like and I told him that I waned to order my son’s food before anything so that he can eat before us. He takes our drink order along with my son’s and walks off. Then 20 minutes later after passing us by 3 to 4 times, he comes to take our food order. As he did that, I noticed he wasn’t writing anything down and my boyfriend had to correct him twice when he repeated the order. He took forever to bring anything we asked for and I love how this so called manager walked around asking certain people how their service was and when I would look at him he tried not to make eye contact with me. This location has always had horrible customer service. The waiters rush and are rude along with this manager. The dining area is so crowded that it’s uncomfortable and they could care less! I wrote a review on their Facebook page and I guess they didn’t care about their horrible service because it still sucks! I plan on emailing corporate because this location is ridiculously unprofessional. They don’t even deserve ONE star! I added my Facebook review to this Unilocal page so that people can see that this is not the first time. Save yourself some time and find another location!

I am really sad for giving Lupe Tortilla 3 Stars, We been eating here for the past 4 years and we did enjoy it, but recently the quality been going down specially on weekend Pm dinner time. I hope soon they will get there acts together, specially after i got blown off by one of the Managers!!! I would love to change this review to 5 stars, when I see how they do next time if i went back.

We decided to try out Lupe for the hyped fajitas i have been reading about. Unfortunately, we did not have a good experience. Our servicer was rather rude and unpleasant until it was time to collect the check. Go figure! We got the steak fajitas. It wasn’t anything special and pieces of the steak was burnt. Highly disappointed with this place and won’t be coming back.

THIS is the place you take friends and family who have yet to experience the wonder that is Tex-Mex! Lupe’s beef fajitas and warm tortillas are life changing.

Fact: Lupe Tortilla has the best beef fajitas in the universe, hands down. Also, how many restaurants can say they have a myth created about them?(Myth discussed in final paragraph). I love pappasito’s and Original Ninfas for many things, but beef fajitas is not one of them, not after having experienced the juicy, flavor-packed experience that is eating a LT beef fajita. I actually am unwilling to try anything else on the menu because that would be a waste of an opportunity for the best beef fajitas in the world. I grew up here and don’t think of this as a chain because I grew up going to the original before it became a chain, and as they’ve expanded I have found the same perfectly marinated beef in all. One star off just because that perfectly marinated beef is recipe for a long wait and difficult to get jn with a group. Just know that and if you want to come with a group, take one for the team and show up early to get your name on the list then enjoy a margarita and an early start on chips and salsa at the bar while you wait. The myth: the original was in what used to be a house, which is why all the additional locations are compartmentalized in oddly small rooms which must make a waiter’s job tricky, but it’s part of the charm. Supposedly the foundation was uneven, so all of the juicy marinate grease would roll to the edge of a giant mythical pan, and of course all the beef would roll there and just ooze in the goodness, resulting in perfectly flavored, juicy, tender fajitas. Probably not true, but it tastes true and that’s all that matters!!!

We love love love Lupe! We literally visit Houston to have their tortillas. The food is so good! We usually split the fajitas. Their sopapillas are amazing too. The downside of this place is that the staff is not so great in the bar area at least. Their bar is always dirty and they have the potential to have a fun bar scene but they don’t utilize it. They have no steady bartender since the bar staff is usually doing other things and not serving the customers. This is a true texmex place with the ambiance. It’s great for families or for a casual date night.

The best chain Tex-Mex I’ve had in Houston! I personally like Lupe Tortilla better than Chuy’s because I think they have more options and a better outdoor ambiance. My one complaint about Chuy’s is that I don’t think the salsa is anything special and they don’t have very good quesos/dips, which for me is a big part of the Mexican restaurant experience, so that puts Lupe slightly ahead for me. At Lupe Tortilla, they also give you complimentary bean dip with the chips and salsa — I don’t know what exactly is in that bean dip but it’s so good and pretty unique for a chain restaurant. The white queso and guac are good, too; they’re not anything special, but they do the job. There’s tons of outdoor seating which I love, and because fajitas are there specialty, it always smells amazing whether you’re inside or outside(and if you tell them you’ve never been before, they’ll bring out mini fajita samplers to you for free). I love their chicken soft tacos, but usually the people I go with get fajitas, and they’re also really good and fresh. For a chain, I think Lupe Tortilla is really good quality food at a pretty reasonable price, not to mention the service is great(and yes, the tortillas are really good, too). Definitely a good staple Tex-Mex place — I always come here when I’m craving Mexican and want a reliably indulgent meal!

My good friend Don that works for The Dent Guys took me here and we had about 4 weeks the World Famous Fajitas by the pound. I recommend the Beef 1lb for 2. Then you will have enough food left over for days. IF your thirsty get a margaritas for $ 6

Great meat, nice and tender, moist. We got chicken fajitas and the appetizer frijole dip. Both are highly recommended, the frijole dip mixed up Mexican flavors well with guacamole, sour cream, queso and ground beef. Would have given 5 stars for more than just sautéed onions and a large grilled jalapeño as fajita skillet veggies. Also, although it’s good food, the prices seem that they could be a little lower. Overall a nice dining experience, I would go again.

This place was recommended by a friend. The beef fajitas were decent. The beef is marinated in some type of citrus juice. They come with giant flour tortillas. Again, pretty good, but not great. I probably wouldn’t go back for those. I’ve had better.

If you’re ever craving beef fajitas, this is the place to be!!! Their beef is delicious– tender, cooked just right, salty but not so salty that I needed to drink a gallon of water with the meal. The beef came out hot on a sizzling plate with onions on the side and a grilled poblano on top– it smelled delicious! The tortillas are soft and thin, not heavy on the stomach. The fajitas are served with pico, guac, cheese, sour cream, beans, and rice. The pico is not spicy so if you’re looking for something hot be sure to ask for habanero sauce on the side. The guac is fairly bland. I came here for the last 6 minutes of happy hour and the waiter didn’t judge me when I asked for 2 original margaritas for myself(each only $ 5 during happy hour which ends at 6:30pm). The original margaritas on the rocks are delicious! The margaritas are each served in a mini carafe with a separate medium sized glass of ice on the side that you’re supposed to pour the margarita into– I love this because you’re able to control how watered down you want your margarita to be! Score for me cause I had a bad day at work and wanted to have a nice strong drink during happy hour so I drank the margarita carafe on it’s own with no ice to water it down :) Overall, I would definitely recommend this place for the tasty fajitas and $ 5 happy hour margaritas. The service here was quick and efficient. Our waiter was extremely attentive– always there when we needed something but not annoyingly bothersome as well. Definitely come by after work one day, you won’t be disappointed! And if it’s a nice, non humid day try to grab a table on their outdoor patio!

Such a delicious meal and great atmosphere found by chance near our hotel. With the multitude of tex-mex joints in this City, mostly good I would expect, it would only be by visitor chance to select Lupe. The nice big patio for open dining, on a rare cool dry day in Houston is the place to sit… we enjoyed the lunch offering of chicken enchiladas and tamales. very tasty, bold and flavorful it was, and uniquely presented for lunch. A diversion from the typical chips and salsa involved a small bowl of bucherra(?). pinto bean soup… yum. go.

I frequently go to this location; it’s near my apartment. The food is always very delicious and prepared perfect. I came in on Saturday evening and sat at the bar. Usually Jose takes care of me. He always does a great job. The bartender tonight brings me chips and salsa. I’m by myself, reading something off my phone. Then I noticed a dirty straw in the bowl of chips. After I have been eating the chips on top of this dirty straw. I point this out to the bartender. So a manager brings over a new bowl of chips assuring me that they have cleaned out the chip bin. After the dirty straw in the chips I didn’t want to eat anymore. My food came out I boxed most of it up. The restaurant management really didn’t seem to care. Manager didn’t take care of anything on the bill. I don’t think I’ll ever go back. I work in the service industry. I’m very disappointed with how they handled this situation.

All about the fajitas here. Amazing, simple clean flavors in tender meat. The beef is really good, but the chicken is good too. The beans are pretty spicy and the avocado is quite chunky. But the star of the show is bar far the tortillas. Soft, multilayered pieces of art that are chewy and perfect container for the meat. Yum. Could eat just the tortillas all day long. The tortillas are huge themselves though. Yet in the midst of all this though is still my expectations of tex-mex i guess. I’ve been to a lot of other tex mex places and while this is really good… I’m not sure I can say its THAT much better given price.

These are the best fajitas and tortillas ever!!! I’m shocked to find this with only mediocre ratings on Unilocal!por que??? Between the two of us, we split half a pound of steak fajitas, it came with guacamole, tortillas, and sautee peppers and onions. The tortillas are different and they are HUGE. These are more like a burritos than fajita taco wrap. They also don’t taste like regular tortillas either. They’re thinner and I like to think they’re between a tortilla and a crêpe. I can normally eat three or four tortillas full but could only eat two here. hahaha they were too big! The fajitas steak was marinated to perfection. It had so much flavor and I could eat this every day!
