I rarely write reviews, but felt the necessity this time around. First of all, I had read all the other Steak Night reviews, and was somewhat mystified. Last night(Thursday), I went to Little Woodrow’s on Sheppard for their Steak Night. The Houston Steak Night web-site gave Woodrow’s its highest rating for a Steak Night on Thursday evening. Many of Unilocal’s reviewers do too. I beg to disagree. After arriving, I ordered a beer as well as the steak, potato and salad. They had a limited selection of salad dressings, so I ended up ordering honey mustard, which is probably what they use as a dipping sauce with their Chicken Strips. I quickly realized that the salad dressings they did offer, were all ones that could be used with other appetizers. While the beer arrived in timely fashion, it was luke-warm. It was an incredibly hot night, so I decided I could live with that, but still wondered why it was so warm. When the steak arrived, they set it down and left. Only afterwards did I realize that they hadn’t given me a napkin or any silverware other than a steak knife. I tried to wave someone down to no avail, and finally went up to the bar to ask. When they brought me the silverware I asked for steak sauce and some additional condiments for the potato. They then told me they had no steak sauce and no additional condiments for the potato. Had I known all of this beforehand, I honestly wouldn’t have ordered the meal. I ate 2⁄3 of the potato with nothing on it, as the toppings were so skimpy. They offered juice from the grill in lieu of steak sauce, which I accepted, but it really wasn’t the same. I was so disappointed with the whole experience that I just wanted to finish and leave. That is when the waiting really started though, as my waitress had disappeared. After 5 minutes I flagged down another waitress to see if I could get my bill. She said she would find my waitress and let her know that I was ready for the bill. Another ten minutes passed and still no bill. I went up and found my waitress and told her I was ready for my bill. I sat down again, and another 5 minutes passed and still no bill. I finally got the attention of a bus boy who spoke very little English, getting him to understand that I was looking for my bill. I finally got the tab, was able to pay the bill, and leave. I honestly can’t remember ever stiffing the wait staff with respect to a tip, as I know they depend on tips. Having said that, if there ever was an instance that warranted giving no tip, this was it. I took the time to write an explanation on the receipt as to why I left nothing. As I drove home, I went over everything that had just happened. Was it the fact that they didn’t have enough staffing last night, or was it simply some weird aberration? I’m not a complainer by nature, but the whole experience was simply unacceptable, and whatever the reason, they should be embarrassed by what happened. As a start, I’d suggest that they have adequate staffing for their steak night, that they expand their dressing selection, that they offer additional condiments for the potatoes, and at least carry one or two steak sauces. I truly realize that this is Steak Night at Woodrow’s, and not an evening at Pappa’s Steakhouse, but again, they need to do better than this. The one star I gave them was because the steak was honestly fine.

45 min later and we were still waiting for food as other people that ordered after us were getting their food. The waitress was unapologetic. I wouldn’t recommend this bar if you’re looking to eat. Drinks are okay.

Parking is interesting, I myself found a spot in their own parking spot, but not easily. Their parking lot was packed, which would lead one to believe the establishment would be packed, but that wasn’t the case. I went on a Monday night and it was availability everywhere. Which leads me to believe on busy nights parking will be. Interesting. The atmosphere is great, service was amazing, and the ratio of televisions to patrons is amazing. Food is subjective, so I won’t leave a huge opinion on that, but I would like to recommend the nachos! Hefty sum of food, which is decently priced @ $ 13 with chicken or chili or pork. I will definitely be back to this establishment.

Actually a cool place with lots of beer and a full bar! The steak night is also pretty fantastic — the steaks are juicy and cooked well, served with a baked potato(with the works — sour cream, cheese, bacon but somehow needed a little more for the size of the potato) and a side salad with your choice of dressing. The steak itself is worth the trip! Drinks are good as well! Place has an outdoor patio and arcade games on the inside and a ton of tv’s to watch your game! They also serve bar food off their regular menu!

Really like this place. I have been on a Monday and a Friday. The Monday they were doing drafts from Texas for $ 3 which turned out be a great deal. Had the burger both times, it’s fantastic. Not just a regular ground beef burger, it’s made of ground brisket and something else I don’t recall. Something about the mayonnaise is just fantastic as well. I wouldn’t be surprised if they made it themselves, it is really good. Fries are nothing special but not bad. Outside area is nice. Staff is nice. There was a group being obnoxious nearby and the bouncer kicked them out tactfully. Will visit again.

We originally wanted to go to another pub to watch the Champions League Final but that place was all reserved. I searched and called this place and they said they had a lot of tvs. So we headed over there. This place is large comfy, nice simple menu. Divided and detailed beer and whiskey menu. They’ll change the channels to the sports channel you need. They have video game consoles like we played street fighter and mortal combat! The food was really tasty. I had chips and salsa to start, the chips were just the right amount of salty, the salsa tasted really good, not like canned sauce. We ordered and I have to say the portions are perfect, not too little, generous. They’re sweet potato fries are so good! They are thin and crispy, usually when I get sweet potato fries at other places they’re floppy and it’s not great but, the Crisp on these fries are so so so so good. Our service was good, our waitress was very busy and she served us nicely. My BLT had a ample amount of bacon, I added my husband’s guacamole that he didn’t want to it because I forgot to ask for mayo on my sandwich. It all worked out! Love this place, we will definitely be coming back in the future!

I can only base my review on the crawfish alone since I did not participate in any libations, as this was my second bar of the night(and having been at the previous bar for about 5 hours). I ordered two pounds of crawfish last night, which cost about $ 15($ 6.99/lb, includes 1 potato and 1 corn), and it was delicious. Only available on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights until 10PM, the crawfish were pretty well purged and deliciously seasoned. The spice was just right. The spice wasn’t too overpowering that it diminished the crawfish taste, but it wasn’t under seasoned so that your nose failed to drip just a teeny bit. The crawfish were not rubbery, and they nearly melted in your mouth, which means they were boiled just right. I admit I was a bit hesitant to order at a bar(because I know we all have had bad bar crawfish before), but it was fantastic! I introduced a couple of friends to crawfish last night, and they had a great experience. I’d come eat crawfish here again!

I have never been to this location of LW and been impressed with service. I came here on a Friday night with a group of 6, and there was ONE bartender from the time that we walked in the door until we left. It took about half an hour for all of us to get drinks, and by that point, the first of our group to order had already finished their first beer. Parking is always an issue, especially on busy nights. Any time I am invited here to watch a Texans/Astros/whatever game, I usually sit with my friends at the tables where we supposedly have our own server. It’s cramped, yet faster to just get up and walk to the bar than to wait for them to come around. Their menu is actually really good though. A step above typical bar food.

This place rocks! Great for game watching parties. Nachos are a great deal — they come out on a huge platter. Definitely spring for the buffalo chicken on top.

Little Woodrow’s is a great place to meet up with friends. This place is massive, and you can always find a table. They have a big parking lot, and you can park in the church lot next door if their lot is full. They even have a bike rack out front. I like to come here on Thursday night because it is steak night. They meal consist of a baked potato, salad and big steak. They say it is a ribeye, but last time mine was a NY strip. It was still delicious. It is great to have a cold beer, watch Thursday Night Football and eat a big, fresh off the grill steak. Thursday night is also when all Vodkas are $ 5. My wife is a fan of this. This place has a ton of TV’s, lots of different beers, good food, and plenty of places to sit. I know I will be back.

It’s my first time at the Shepherd location and I was impressed at first as we walked in. It’s a huge layout with pool table, arcade games and lots of indoor seating. But the service sucks here! We were never greeted by a waitress. I was hoping we could grab a bite to eat but yeah that didn’t happen. I’m not about to beg for service either so we decided to bounce after our first drink. My boyfriend said the service at the bar was horrible as well.

Little Woodrow’s can be found all over town including this location on Shepherd. I came on a Thursday with some friends for happy hour. This one is larger than other locations, including the one in Midtown, and I was surprised for how full it was on a Thursday. We sat at a table and had a waitress. They have a great beer selection but unfortunately the happy hour specials aren’t great… at least on a Thursday. $ 0.50 off beer until 7 and then they had vodka drinks on sale after 7 P.M. They also have food which consists of your usual bar food i.e. burgers, sandwiches, apps, etc. I had the chips and queso and the pretzels with cheese which were both typical bar appetizers. Unfortunately, our waitress would only come around to check on us once a blue moon so order refills became a bit difficult. I had to get up and go and find her to order another drink which got annoying after the first time.

A lot of good space to come with a group or to meet up with people, inside is large with a good mix of seating options and areas to circle up and there is a nice patio with comfortable seating in the front of the bar. Has an «all are welcome» vibe, the crowd is 20s &30s with a mix of men with big arms and tight polos and women in cowboy boots. Also, great parking options at Little Woodrow’s on Shepherd. You can park all night without worry of being towed in the lot or in the overflow lot at the Church next door. This is awesome because if you have A LOT of fun you know your car will be there in the morning!

Came here for steak night with my friends a few weeks ago. Parking is crap, but we were lucky and found parking in the actual lot. Yay! Luck was on our side as we also found a huge booth to accommodate our group instantly as well. Double yay! Ordered my pear cider and my steak medium rare and waited patiently for both. It was swamped so I figured it would be awhile. Service was just mehhh. Waitress was extremely rude. Steak was too chewy, obviously I wasn’t expecting a tender juicy steak since it’s A. not a steak house B. steak night which quantity trumps quality and C. you get what you pay for. Even so bleh. Great value for what it is though.

This is another Little Woodrow’s, but the place is huge! I’ve been a few times for random things. Parking can be an issue if the church is not available. There are lots of seating options and the patio is nice during good weather. Typical drink selections, food is pretty basic bar food. Plenty of TVs for sports watching.

This place is very hit or miss and it 100% depends on who is serving you. I am not sure if they have a bunch of new hires, but some of servers are just not good which some pick up the slack and are awesome. The last two times I have been here it just seemed that everything was more difficult then it needed to be They do have a very good beer selection and food is some of the better classic bar food in the city. Good burgers and a proper steak night. Chips and queso are also better than most. While they do not have tons of parking that have much more than most other locations in the area. I do find it fully when the guy who was there and left three hours ago leaves and then returns to get his car and it has been towed. I feel a little bad, but seriously?

A great bar and my favorite drinking spot. I come here at least once a week, usually Friday night after work, but sometimes I might go multiple times just because it’s close to where I live and the service and staff are great. First, this bar is very big on the inside, and has the most indoor seating of all the Little Woodrow’s I’ve been to. This is great for those miserable Texas summers or when we get those 2 weeks of winter around New Years. The service here is great. The bartenders are good at completing orders quickly and with a pleasant attitude, even when the bar is swamped. I’ve NEVER had a bartender be sour or rude to me. The bartenders are also fairly knowledgeable about the beers on tap, and not just the breweries. If I said I wanted something light and hoppy, they could name off several beers that I might like. This is great and very few bars can boast that they have bartenders that can do this. That brings me to the beer and spirits. First, they have 48 taps from local, domestic, and craft breweries. They are constantly changing their taps which I love because it allows exposure to so many different beers. They also have a good bottle selection. The bar also has a good selection of well and top-shelf spirits. I don’t drink the hard stuff but I can tell that their selection is pretty good. The food is typical bar food; wings, burgers, nachos, etc. I’ve had the wings and nachos, and I though both were pretty good. Everything taste fresh-made and I would say better than some local wing places. Some additional benefits of this location are that they have free arcade machines on Wednesdays, and if you like Buck Hunter and Street Fighter II like I do then this place is for you. They have at least a dozen tvs and they are willing to change the channel if you ask. I watch hockey games here often. If you love beer, do the«Big 50 Club». I highly recommend this bar!

It ain’t little. This place has tons of seating inside, plenty of comfy outdoor seating for smokers and as far as I could tell a nice sized parking lot to the south of the building. We had a small group of old friends hooking up on a Sunday afternoon and grabbed some couches and chairs and settled in for an afternoon of catching up and brews. Amazing selection of beers — they claim 50 on tap but I didn’t count. A lot of local breweries and some of my favorite micro brewery beers from around the country available. A full bar and some specialty frozen drinks available too. There was also a long list of bottled beer that included a lot of the more familiar beers they call«your dad’s beer». I enjoyed a variety of IPAs and actually got to taste a couple I was unfamiliar with before I plopped down cash to buy a pint. I am not gonna try and pick my favorite because my taste in beers is likely different from yours. The staff was quick and friendly. The customers weren’t loud, creepy or drunk. Lots of nice 30 and 40 somethings. A couple had their older kids with them for a burger. We had some nachos $ 9: basic bar bites. Nothing to write home about but good to soak up the beers. And a couple in our group had a burger $ 9– $ 11. They said they were very good and they looked great. So if you need some grub it’s there. I read the fried pickles were great but no one seemed real thrilled when I mentioned them. And they had funnel cake! I know?! How cool is that. The music was never too loud and the TVs were all over the place showing mostly golf and ESPN Classic shows. I can imagine it being a cool place to catch a game if you get there in time and catch a table. Lots of arcade games along the wall including an electronic beer pong game! I am an afternoon bar drinker these days. It keeps me away from the amateur drinkers and the loud music. So yes, for this middle aged gal it’s a definite go back to place.

Thursday nights are the steak nights. I came here with a group of friends as we were hungry for steak. While searching for a place, this showed up on Picking this place seems great for steak night! We were so hungry that we couldn’t wait. There’s a couple of options for salad dressing which most other pubs don’t have. The steak night special contained a huge ribye(15oz by guess), loaded baked potato, and salad for $ 16. Trust me, it was well worth it! You’ll be missing out if you haven’t had their steak in your mouth. I usually order mine medium rare and it was on point! The juices and flavor burst out with madness. No need for sauce because the chef here knows what he/she is doing!

I swear I reviewed this previously but Unilocal is telling me I didn’t. Came here with friends after running the Aramco Half Marathon for well deserved beers. Beer selection was good. There were plenty of TVs. Fried pickles were excellent. Pretzel was«meh». Service was slow but friendly. We had a big booth and it was a lot of fun. Bathrooms were surprisingly clean considering the number of people there who were hammered. It’s a pretty cool place but a little too crazy for me.
