I had breakfast with some friends and everything was okay until our waitress took my plate from the table claiming it wasn’t for me before I start to eat it. It was rude and so embarrassing and after 5 minutes she brought me the same dish.

Tried their French Onion Soup. Definitely NOT traditional! The cheese was nothing more than shredded white cheese on top of the soup without any browning nor cooking for that matter. I guess I was expecting better.

The service at this location is just as bad as most other LaMadeleine locations. Bad employee attitudes, poor customer service, special requests treated with rudeness. The non-Starbucks coffee is the only reason for 2 stars. Updated: ordered the Parisian Eggs Benedict. $ 11.45 for luke warm eggs, broken hollandaise, and cold, paper-thin ham downgraded review to 1 star.

Full disclosure: I married a French guy who used to work in a French kitchen… so my standards for«French food» are a little high. I like this La Madeleine. I love that they still have the cozy, rustic atmosphere inside with the roaring fireplaces and wooden chairs. Despite its charm, the food isn’t anything special. They like to emphasize«French country», and they do have things like quiche, French onion soup, and potato galettes, but some have been completely Americanized(a bacon, egg, and cheese croissant) and others are novel but unimpressive. Because things are kept on the line under a heat lamp, the galettes can become tough and almost inedible; the quiches can dry out; puff pastry becomes chewy. Under the best of circumstances, though, the food is acceptable(beware that one quiche is over 1000 calories… they must use a ton of cream). Nice place for breakfast or lunch in particular. If arriving during peak times, it may be completely full indoors.

Disappointing and dirty. I’ve been to other La Madeline locations and they’re generally very clean, but this one was just lacking. We spotted a couple of small roaches on the coffee pots, we tossed aside a half dozen pieces of silverware that weren’t properly cleaned, and when I was eating my cheesecake I noticed odd green lines laced through the middle. I promptly returned the cheesecake and asked for the manager. The employee made a point of throwing the cheesecake in the trash before the manager got there, making it hard to point out everything. She refunded the cheesecake and pulled the cottee pots, but left it at that. I completely lost my appetite. I have no desire to return to this location.

The food is generally good but it’s just not a bargain. Over eight dollars for quiche Lorraine and a fountain beverage is pricey in my book. Although the quiche was very fresh and loaded with cheese and meat, I don’t feel it was worth the price. Houston has many restaurants that offer good food at great prices. Unfortunately, this establishment is not measuring up. I was also turned off when I saw not one or two but three dirty trays as I went down the line. Considering the number of employees here, I don’t understand why someone was not responsible for washing the trays or at least making sure there were clean ones for customers to use. Even though the restaurant was not very busy I feel the floor could have been swept. It wasn’t super dirty but could have been cleaner. After a second visit to this location for coffee and sweets, I must change the rating from 3 to 2 stars.

Good food. Decent price but DON’T ORDERCARRYOUT. For the time it will take you to get it once you arrive, you may as well just sit and eat. The worker behind the counter has to make coffee, latte’s, package deserts, and leave ot check the kitchen. Several times it has taken 15 minutes to get my food while I watched it sitting on the counter the whole time. Truly frustrating.

Kind of pricy but it’s decent. Loved the French onion soup! The desserts look amazing but never tried. The lattes are pretty good as well as the breakfast options. I loved the blueberry almond oatmeal.

5 stars, why? Because of the awesome staff they have! The food is okay, desserts are tasty, but it tastes way better when you’re with friendly staff. Not sure of his name, but he’s working the dessert counter right now and he’s always a joy to bump into. Each time I come, I always get him in the register and he honestly leaves me with a smile as I’m walking out. My fav La Madeline of all Houston.

The food was pretty good. We had the duet magnifique with a Caesar salad and full sized croissant with chicken salad… it was delicious and tomato basil soup. We also had the croque monsieur with a tomato basil soup. The reason why I had to dock 1 star is because we received 1 lunch entrée and that was it. The server took our block and we never got the other entrée until we went up front to inquire and then it took more time for them to prep everything.

Love this place! The lemonade is better than chick fil a’s and the chicken Parisian sandwich and potato soup is great!!!

No surprises here. I had the NEW Cranberry & Pecan Wild Field Salad — Sweet dried cranberries, toasted pecans* and field greens tossed in balsamic vinaigrette. Also, the Potato Galette. My husband had the Chicken Friand & Potato Galette. Yummy.

I have been to several locations in Houston as well as Northern VA(where I used to live), this location has the worst customer service! Let me start by saying, my assumptions at this location was supposed to be top notch being that it is in really nice shopping area. This was my first time at this location and I ordered breakfast, specifically the Cinn. French toast at close to 11:00am. It looked ok on the plate until I took a bite. It was soggy without having any syrup on it. The strawberries and Mandarine oranges were fresh. On top of that meal I struggled to finish… I went to redeem my Birthday pastry from my phone(which other locations has gladly accepted in the past). The lady at the cashier told me that I had to print it. Hello, La Madeline. what’s the point of a phone? Who prints anything these days? At least put a bar code on your email… needless to say, the lady gave me grief about it and then accepted it. I definitely won’t be back! Btw– Café Express French toast is sooo much better! I even had to tell the lady behind me about it, even before I tried theirs!

I stopped by for late lunch. I walk in and the workers are super rude! I get to the counter and 2 workers ladies they just stare. I ask«May I order?» The worker rolls her eyes and then she nods. She doesn’t even bother to ask«May I help you? May I take your order?» I get a nod. I order the pesto pasta with chicken. And go find my seat and wait for my food. Food cames out in 15 mins. My pesto pasta was covered in greenish puddle of sauce. Almost looked like soup. The pesto was so watery and the chicken was dried. The breadstick was crispy on the outside but gummy chewy on the inside. Overall the food could have been better. I’m disappointed. This place used to be much better.

First night into Thanksgiving trip 2014. We got into Houston late and dropped off our bags at the hotel, the Four Points Sheraton. I was starving, so we ventured out to eat. We ended up here, only a quarter of a mile from the hotel. This place was so cute, and at the time we arrived it was right before closing. I was just happy that they were still open. The layout was interesting… but I liked the cozy warm atmosphere. I really loved the double sided fireplace. The layout to order was slightly confusing, and you can order in 3 locations. The first area right by the entrance looked like it was for drinks only. Then there was the start of an ordering/cafeteria line to get any items that were out on display, mainly salads and soups. Then finally the checkout area, where you can look at the rest of the menu and order. The service was ok, not great. The staff was young, so naturally come closing time, everyone wants to bolt and unfortunately for us… we wanted to eat. We were able to order. They did forget a few things… like the salad and soup… we only ordered 3 items, they forgot 2 of them. The Country potato soup was horrible, very watery and flavorless… the bacon and the cheese didn’t improve it. Our third item was the Mediterranean paella which was surprisingly yummy. The amount of shrimp we got in it made the dish worth getting. If you like to people watch, there are some interesting folks here.

La Madeleine usually is a simple go to for a quick tasty lunch or casual dinner. I dropped by this location for a fast lunch waiting on an appointment in the area and wasn’t too impressed, mainly with the service. People behind the counter were really sour and not happy to help. I ordered a half sandwich and bowl of tomato basil soup, paid and took my seat. Soup came out first and it was obviously out a little long. The consistency was lumpier than I was comfortable with so I stopped about half way hoping for my sandwich to hurry up. Sandwich came and it was the wrong one. I couldn’t get a word in edgewise to the lady who dumped it off at my table and kept walking though, so I went up to the counter for some help. Multiple people hovering behind the counter saw me but didn’t acknowledge me so I finally waived a cook down from the kitchen behind them. The cook grabbed my plate and then returned from the kitchen with my correct sandwich, either fresh off the line or waiting under a lamp, and gave it to me without as much as an apology. Sandwich was good but service was awful.

I love their sweet treats like the fruit tart or mini parfait treats. I enjoy coming to this location to have coffee or a light dinner while catching up with friends. I took away a star because the food tends to be a hit or miss at this location. I always order the Salad sampler and it tends to be inconsistent(the salad is either drenched or the portion size is different). Occasionally, I will order something different like Chicken friand with mushroom sauce or Roasted chicken with a side salad(most times the roasted chicken is dry). My sister liked the pasta with chicken in mushroom sauce. I took a bite of her pasta and it was creamy and delicious! I just hope it tastes the same when I order it next time. This place is a great place to catch up with a friend!
