The breakfast tacos are tiny but delicious. Where I would normally eat 1 from tacos a go go I ate 5 from La Blanca. The empanadas and coffee are also fantastic but service is really slow(we were the only ones in line and it took 15 minutes for 4 breakfast tacos and a coffee) The owner is very friendly and this is a nice café away from the hustle and bustle of midtown. If this place could speed up the service a little and make their breakfast tacos a little bigger I would come here every week instead of my usual midtown breakfast joints.

This is my new favorite neighborhood breakfast/lunch spot and I just learned from John, the owner, that they expanded to also offering dinner as of this week! While the breakfast tacos and empanadas are great, my current favorite menu item is the steak lomito sandwich — tender pieces of beef with fresh pico de gallo on a perfect crispy toasted baguette with chimichurri spread on the inside. You can get it as part of a combo with an empanada(I recommend the original) and a drink of your choice — Mexican coke, Jarrito, coffee, or a variety of fresh smoothie flavors. Honestly, the sandwich on its own is plenty for me. My husband cannot get enough of the beef tacos, which are served on delicious fresh homemade flour tortillas. John can usually be found working behind the counter and he’s a really nice friendly guy. Every time I’ve gone, we’ve made great conversation with him and other patrons inside the restaurant, which are usually friendly people from the neighborhood. They have a fantastic rooftop patio where bands will play on certain nights and they’re known to host a few DJ nights and poetry slams.

It’s a winner! Good people. Good food. Prepared fresh with a flair. Tasty! Fun! La Blanca Café, a mile north of Hermann Park on Almeda, is always a fun place to visit. The staff are a social bunch, chatting about specials and what’s happening around the area or in the kitchen. I usually grab an empanada or taco special around lunch time. It seems like they are always concocting new items in the kitchen. One day they had a spicy chicken cilantro empanada that was amazing. Try the Bandida or Badabing for a twist on the theme. Delicious and spicy. Keep an eye out for the unusual. The food usually takes a little while to prepare and is always delicious and hot.

A friend and I randomly stopped in for lunch today since this place has been on my radar for a while now. John, the owner, is really nice and you can tell his café is important to him. The food is delicious and homemade and definitely made with care. We shared the steak lomito(latin version of a torta), and a couple of empanadas, spicy ground beef and chicken pesto, all really really good and fresh. The steak was tender, there was a perfect amount of chimichurri in the sandwich, and the bread was nice and crispy on the outside. The empanada filling was warm and spicy and the crust was clearly scratch made. Yum. The patio upstairs is really nice and would be perfect for a breezy day. They have different events throughout the month(poetry readings, comedy shows, etc), which adds an appeal to come back often. We noticed they had fancy coffee equipment and a coffee menu, so we knew the coffee has got to be good, which it was. We left with iced coffees made just right and to get us through the rest of our work day. I am really excited for this place and I hope they do well and stick around for a long time. Great food, a welcoming vibe, and right down the street from work, so perfect for lunch and happy hour.

Yuuu-hhuummm! The food here is amazing. Everything is fresh and made to order, which can take up to ten whole minutes.(People complain about this… Why?) Anyway, the owner, the cooks and the barista are always very welcoming and make me laugh. I am a stickler for manners, so that alone keeps me coming back. Though, $ 2 empanadas and sangria are very much an incentive, too.

Came to pick up a quick bite in the afternoon. Super nice people and food tastes great(the pork pineapple pepper marinade is awesome). It does take a little longer than I like to get my food but that’s probably because they make it when you order it. If I was eating there(and it wasn’t to-go) then it wouldn’t be an issue. I’ll probably just call in my order next time I pick it up so it cuts down on wait time. You should definitely check it out — I think there’s live music on Friday nights as well and breakfast in the mornings. I live pretty close by so I’ll definitely be back.

Ordered 24 breakfast tacos to take into my office, and a cappuccino. The capp was amazing, and the egg, sausage and cheese breakfast tacos were AMAZING. They’re under $ 2 each, too! They’re definitely still new and working out a few kinks, but couldn’t be happier to have these guys in the neighborhood.

Delicious and authentic. It’s just getting started, but the vibe is good and I’ll be back for seconds for sure. The Museum Park so needs this place!
