I was very impressed with the service at Kolache Factory on Kirby – I called them as I was driving there, and they had my kolache order waiting for me in a bag on the counter when I arrived. The kolaches themselves are pretty standard and good, with a variety of options to choose from.

Sausage? Bread? Coffee? How can you not love the combination. The prehistoric man in me loves that I can eat delicious meats conveniently without silverware(or sporks). Super convenient and fast, never had to wait more than 5 minutes for my food, unless that person who is attempting to count“points” before buying. It’s processed meat and cheese. Calculations only depress you. Staff is friendly and they have a small area for you to sit down if you need it. 4 stars for delicious and convenient.

i sometimes go there to grab some kolaches for my coworkers. The kolaches are good. i specially liked the jalapeño popper. the first time i went there the lady who served me was very«ican’twaitforyoutoleavethisplace», and that’s why i took a seat and enjoyed my kolache for 15 minutes. :) all the other times i had a good experience. you probably can find better kolaches around, but it’s not a bad place.

In the mornings when you’re looking for a quick, non fast food breakfast, this place fits the bill. The kolaches are nothing stunning or anything like some of the places you can find elsewhere in Texas, but they will suffice as you make your morning commute. Four sausage and cheese kolaches, two bottles of water, and an bottle of orange juice cost $ 12. This may seem pricey, but work paid for my food. Service is fast. You order at the counter, tell the staff what you want, they zap your kolaches with a microwave, and you’re on your merry way. I couldn’t check in fast enough on Foursquare and Unilocal! So, not a bad place to stop!

Nice, fast, friendly service great for a quick breakfast. But, I’m not sure what the big deal with kolaches is. They just seem to be dinner rolls filled with breakfast stuff(eggs, cheese, sausage, etc). I’m sure it’s good for what it is, but I’ll stick with my ham and cheese hot pockets!

I’m from California, and it was my first time hearing this foreign word«KOLACHE» when my Texan friend recommended a visit to Kolache Factory sometime. I was immediately lured by the exoticness of the word, and since I’m always up for a good adventure, another friend and I set off on a walk to Kolache Factory, or what later became known as FREAKINBLISS. What the hell am I talking about? Oh, well, y’know, the bliss of sinking my teeth into the soft, chewy bread, and savoring the tang of the peaches of the Fruit kolache, the sweet pecans of the Sticky Bun, and the breathtaking warmth of the cheese and peppered chicken in Italian Chicken. AND to top it all off, everything was half-priced because we went in 30 minutes before closing time!(Tip of the day: Come to Kolache Factory between 1:30pm and 2:00pm to snag some good deals and some good noms. Trust me.) Since it was my first time there, it wouldn’t be wrong to say that my excitement of this being a first muddled my judgment of the food, but I know F’SHO I’ll be returning again sometime soon. My current newbie status doesn’t qualify me to make any reliable recommendations yet, but both my friend and I fell in love with the Italian Chicken(AND on the Kolache Factory website, it’s listed under«Healthy Dining Choices» too! Cha-chinggg). I personally adored the simplicity of the Fruit kolache as well, and they also have a variety of different fruit flavors too. I got peach this time, and it was finger-lickin’ good, but I’ll set out to try the other ones too. The Sticky Bun was unfortunately a bit too sugary for my taste, as I had some sugar crystals running around in my mouth, but my love for pecans overrode that. tl;dr: I’LLBEBACKMYLOVELIES!

Nothing special about this place. It’s an average kolache place. While I prefer Shipley’s kolaches to Kolache Factory, they do have more varieties, obviously. Then again, who doesn’t love dough nut holes?

Let’s be honest, kolaches may not be exceptional as an end product… the bread is kinda rubbery and flavorless, the fillings are mediocre at best… but for novelty and convenience, they get FIVE stars! I’m not going to pretend there’s anything worth recommending here. But when you need a cheap self-contained breakfast whose efficiency will give you goosebumps, look no further than the Kolache Factory.

Kolache Factory kolaches are different than the kolaches you get at Shipley’s because the meat is diced. So, it’s not going to be like a pig in a blanket — it’s going to be like a cream puff but instead of cream you’ll have diced sausage or diced ham. I think this can be off putting if you’re not used to it.

To start off, the sheer number of different types of kolaches was more than overwhelming for a poor soul such as myself nursing a mild but not debilitating hangover on a Sunday morning. As such, I decided to hedge my bet and get a couple of the classics(cheese, jalapeño, sausage) and one of the more adventurous options(chicken enchilada). As far as the classics, I enjoy jalapenos, and these jalapenos were not overly spicy, but there were entirely far too many of them for me. The chicken enchilada was actually exactly as advertised and tasted exactly like an enchilada, only something I decided I wasn’t entirely ready for that early in the morning. Overall, I did enjoy the breading, and my lukewarm reception of the particular fillings I chose might change entirely with a second visit with better selections(at least I have the options available I guess).

Alright… someone tell me what I’m missing. What is the big deal about kolaches? I live in LA, but I worked in Houston for over a year so of course, my coworkers brought kolaches into work. When I first tried it, I remember thinking, who eats this for breakfast?(I had a sausage one) In my opinion, they are simply a fancy pig in a blanket… SURPRISE! or if that’s not the correct comparison, here’s another one. It’s like a cha siu bao, but with breakfast items inside… SURPRISE again! Oh, I have NOTHING against kolaches, I actually think they are quite tasty. I’m just so confused as to why everyone likes them in Houston. If someone can explain it to me, I will buy them a kolache.

What could be better than a Kolache? How about an entire Kolache Factory? There’s not much you need to know about the Kolache Factory. Kolaches are amazing, and the Kolache Factory does them right. It’s that simple. The only reason you’d need me to tell you more, is if you’ve never had a kolache before. If that’s the case, run don’t walk to the Kolache Factory, and order a dozen to make up for lost time!

um, i L-O-V-E the kolaches here. give me a half-dozen and i’m good to go. they’re pretty cheap, too… which is a big plus. no need for this review to be super-long. get yourself some sausage and cheese kolaches and you’ll have a smile on your face in no time.

Kolaches fall into that line of food items that are easy to eat on the go(empanadas, turnovers, etc), but for some reason have a special place in my heart. If you want to impress your coworkers, bring it kolaches during the week instead of tired old donuts. The hot sausage or egg, bacon, and cheese are my personal favorites. However, don’t forget to try traditional specialties like poppyseed or apple because they’re also wonderful. The best thing about these kolaches is that they reheat well in the microwave, so you can have one for breakfast everyday of the week ;)
