Came on a Sunday @ 4:15, noticed as I entered that they closed @ 4:30. I asked if we had enough time to order and they politely said yes. Three more groups walked in after us and they did not lock their doors until 4:30 exactly. Great customer service! My son ordered the chicken fingers and fries which were fresh and hot. I had the chicken marsala and it delicious!

Tastes pretty good but the portions are small and over priced. $ 58 for a family of 4 to eat and only drink waters. And leave still hungry.

I always get breakfast tacos and they are great! Their tortillas don’t taste like they’re straight from the package like most restaurants. They stay pretty busy but the wait isn’t too long.

Salmon pita sandwich was delicious and big. Not sure if the price was worth the dish, however. The fries were typical and nothing to rave about.

I love this place. Especially as a person with a gluten allergy. Everyone here is so friendly & accommodating. I have dined in as well as ordered online for pick up. Both methods were super easy & fast. Lunch gets busy and parking is tough, but the food & portions are worth it. Gluten free pita bread is really good.

Chicken Pesto pita is fantastic, although the two times I have been there, they have made it differently, which is kind of discouraging because when you go somewhere for a specific item, you’d hope it would be made exactly the same each time. I don’t like unpredictability with my food– especially when I’m paying $ 10 for a tiny, thin-breaded, type of taco. The interior is very cozy and trendy, a plus. However, I saw a busboy do something once that made me question the cleanliness of it all. There were some obviously dirty napkins on one of the tables next to me, and instead of throwing the napkins away and cleaning the table off with a fresh towel, the busboy used the DIRTY napkins to clean off the table, smearing the previous customer’s food, saliva, and who-knows-what-else all over the surface of the table that the next customer was about to eat on. Ew. The two cashiers I have encountered are a major contributing factor as to why this location lost two stars. They are tattooed girls with nasty attitudes that make you feel bad for requesting, «No tomatoes, please.» While some particular people may feel that appearance has nothing to do with the type of service you receive, I beg to differ, as employers in upscale businesses demand that their staff look professional. This may not be considered an upscale business, however there is no excuse to lack the crisp, clean, and fresh appearance and attitude, as you are the first person one sees when walking into a business.

Ordered the Greek salad but paid for & received the Island salad. Realized the dressing was balsamic(instead of Greek) after I poured it on the salad & did not like the taste. Nearly $ 10 for one bite of salad On a positive note, the pita & hummus were good!

First I will say this. I am originally from Michigan. Little know outside is there is large Greek population both in Detroit Area and Grand Rapids Area. It is a very under appreciated group in Michigan. There are some really good homemade Greek places all over Detroit Metro/Oakland County. I love Greek food. Here I had the Mediterranean Platter, it was ok, not very Mediterranean(Med). Chicken was 1. Cut up in pieces not traditional at all and 2. Had no lemon or oregano, simple cumin, cinnamon. Salad had no olives, pita was Gordon Foods-ish. The gyro wraps looked good, if I have to go back again maybe I will try that. This place to me is kind of sell-out Med. place that does not give Greek Food Experience but rather caters to a Med. food perception. I know Nikko– Nikko is the perceived best Greek(which its not), but places like this would do well to be more traditional and find the mid-dining level spot for really good Med. Food. This does not do that. Likes: Place was nice looking, clean. Staff was friendly Dislikes: Food Recommendation: I am going to keep looking for a Mid-Low level Med. Place that delivers good Med. Food in a casual atmosphere. If you haven’t had good Greek/Med. food.

I was quite pleasantly surprised by this place. The food was great, and they give big portions. The downside is the awkward/limited parking and the fact that the restaurant was so packed for lunch. It took a while to get our food. I went for lunch with a few friends. The location was perfect. It’s kind of got its own little area off of I-10, or so I thought. When I pulled in, I realized it was a strip of businesses with a tiny parking lot, and the row of parking spaces facing the strip is 15 minute only. I noticed there was a lot in the back, but it wasn’t much bigger and was full. I got lucky that someone was leaving and took their spot. At around 12:45pm, the line was pretty long. The building is small, so 6 – 7 people pretty much took us to the door. All tables were filled, but I guess it was a good thing the line was long because by the time we ordered, some people had left. Unfortunately, I’m paid hourly, unlike the rest of my friends, so the wait was a bigger deal for me to wait. From Unilocal reviews, two friends ordered Hanovers– one with chicken and one with beef. My SO and I each ordered gyros– one with chicken and one with beef. All four of us thoroughly enjoyed our meals. And despite my friends being fat, they were all beyond full after finishing. The portions are definitely on the large side but not huge. You wouldn’t think there would be much to say about service since it’s mostly self-serve and you order at the register, but the staff were all really friendly and do their jobs well. The busboy was very attentive to finished plates. I would definitely come here again but maybe when I’m not on the clock.

The food has been good each time we have eaten here. I really like the Reuben, that’s my go to. This location has nice seating against the window or the wall. Also the TVs have been on fairly loud each time we have been in. You order up at the counter and then wait at a table for your food… it doesn’t take too long to get your food either. The people working at Island Grill(I’ve noticed this at both locations) aren’t that friendly. But it’s a good place to pick up some lunch when you’re in the area.

YUMMY! The one star deduction is because of the queso — it’s way too thin. Flavor wasn’t bad, but with chips that are hearty and thick like the ones they serve(very good, by the way), it needs a heavier queso to go with it. Also — why is their queso on the menu? I thought it was a mediterranean place — anyway, on to more important things: I ordered the mixed kabob platter — and LOVED it. I would expect this to come out on an actual kabob, but instead, they did all the dirty work for me and served it over fresh pita bread. The flavor was perfect! Not too salty, not too spicy — just a very nice savory burst of flavor. The chicken was also very good, but I think next time I’ll stick with the beef only — it was delicious. The steak(tenderloin) was cooked perfectly — I suppose you can specify if you want it medium, or whatever, but they didn’t ask and I didn’t think to specify. It is cooked well done, but it was still so juicy and flavorful that I didn’t mind a bit. The hummus was really good too — they brought out a small bowl for us to «try». Nice!!! The owner/manager was very friendly and personally took our order at the register. My husband ordered the beef stir fry — also very flavorful and tender. The difference is they shave the beef rather than serve it in chunks. Didn’t order dessert but really wanted to try the baklava cheesecake — it looked delicious but we’re observing Lent right now. Next time for sure!

I heard good things about this place and its ‘healthy’ entrees. I ordered a buffalo burger with fries and a ‘fresh squeezed lemonade.’ The fresh squeezed lemonade was a can of Country Time. So much for squeezing… I expected the fries to be baked, but they weren’t. However, while they were not overly greasy, they were way too salty. The buffalo burger tasted just like Fuddrucker’s and was pretty lean, which was good. My boyfriend had the grilled chicken with brown rice which he didn’t like very much and he’s like a goat — he will eat anything you put in front of him. I took a spoonful of his food and was not impressed. Restrooms are clean, customer service is good, prices are a bit steep, depending on what you order. Overall, there are healthier places than this.

I feel like the good review is mainly because it’s a lot of gyro for your buck. Also. The atmosphere is very homey, makes you feel like it’s a small neighborhood place were most of the customers walk over from the nearby apartments. As for the quality, I will call it standard. The tzatzki sauce could be thicker, and I felt general assembly of the gyro could be improved. It sure did have a lot of meat though, and that’s important! Overall. Good atmosphere. Bang for your buck. I am leaving feeling a tad insecure though, I’m generally very approachable and the manager seemed to have visited every table to check on them except for mine. I don’t want to make assumptions so I’ll assume I’m looking rather unapproachable sitting by myself today. Anyways, won’t come back regularly, but will definitely recommend to my area colleagues.

Wish«ZERO» stars were possible… I’ve been wanting to try this location… but will not EVER happen. The management is awful and completely cruel. I ordered my daughter lunch for the first time today to have delivered through a service OFFERED by this restaurant to her school. I placed my order at 8am and they said it would be delivered on their food truck at 10:45 am which is her very early lunchtime. They asked for my phone number in case there was a problem. I never received a call… My daughter texted me from lunch… all of the kids that ordered from this restaurant were waiting hungry with no food. I called the restaurant and they said they were busy and would take the food late. These kids have 30 minutes for lunch and do not have the luxury that adults do to run late. These kids got their lunch with 4 minutes left for lunch time… I am FURIOUS!!! The manager said on the phone that they couldn’t handle the orders… well then DON’T TAKETHEMANDDON’T OFFERTODELIVERANDATTHEVERYVERYLEASTCALLTHEPHONENUMBERYOUASKEDFORWHENTAKINGTHEORDERANDSAYWEARESTARVINGYOURCHILD… YOUMAYWANTTOFINDOTHERLUNCHFORTHEM!!! I will not give a dime to ANY Island Grill ever again… not an apology… not any method of making this right. Just a bunch of really hungry kids all day… and one I know of with a bad headache all day from hunger.

I am a frequent visitor to their other locations — Woodway, Bellaire, and Trotter YMCA, so I figured going to this location for breakfast was going to be great like the others. I LOVE, LOVE the pancakes at the Bellaire location because it’s so fluffy and one of the best pancakes I’ve ever had… but here… different chefs? recipes? Pancakes are not fluffy at all. They’re not bad, but I don’t usually order pancakes but I love them at Island Grill. Also, their omelet wasn’t the same as the other locations. Again, it wasn’t as fluffy as the other locations. I am willing to try this location again because I’m a fan of the other locations… hopefully it’ll be a better experience next time.

I really had high hopes for this place. Not that many Mediterranean places in this particular area so when I spotted this place I got excited & took a look at their menu online. I should have known better. This place offers everything: chips, salsa, queso, burgers, pasta, pizza, & chili along with the Mediterranean items I love. To me when you have to offer the«other stuff» you are either catering to a younger crowd or the Med items you offer are subpar. In this case it’s both. We walked in & for a second I thought we were at the nearby High School’s cafeteria. Tons of pony-tailed, big t-shirt with the requisite Nike shorts were scattered about in packs of 4 or 5. Order at the counter, we looked at the menu while we waited our turn. I opted for the vegetarian platter which had falafel, hummus, tabbouleh, & pita bread. H ordered the Mediterranean platter which had gyros, chicken, & a Greek salad. We took our number, got our drinks & chose a table right by a t.v. that was tuned into Nickelodeon. Lovely. Our food was delivered & while the presentation was pretty the food was mediocre. The falafel was horrible. Super greasy with a really weird crust that had me thinking they rolled the falafel in crushed corn flakes or panko that was so thick it threatened to tear up the roof of my mouth. The inside was a gooey, pasty mess. Needless to say I quit eating these greasy balls from hell after the first bite. The hummus & tabouli were both acceptable as was the pita. H liked the gyro(which I tried & it was good) but the chicken had this really strange curry aftertaste. Really disappointing food experience. On a positive note, the burger looked really good & the staff was really nice.

New expansion location of Island Grill in the Memorial /Memorial City area. You can’t go wrong with any of their juices or smoothies but food recommendations include the chicken pita wrap with their garlic sauce or their California Fish wrap. Hummus appetizer is worth a try! Breakfast fit for a Ninja Warrior: go for the egg white breakfast tacos with avocado slices. Generous portions ensure two are enough

I am so glad that there is finally a Mediterranean place in the Spring Branch area! My other favorites are too far out on Westheimer for me to enjoy on a regular basis. It is an order at the counter casual place. Very clean and nice inside. I have been here twice. Once for the soft opening and once just today. Their falafel is honestly the best I have had. They are almost donut like, very light crispy and airy. I have only ever had dense falafel. I am also really loving their Gyro meat. On both occasions I ordered the Mediterranean platter with Gyro, chicken, grilled onions, mushrooms, Greek salad and a side of pita bread. I have also shared their veggie plate with the falafel, hummus and tabbouleh. I wasn’t overly impressed with anything on the veggie plate besides the falafel. The hummus was pretty standard but we were informed that it is made in house which is great. I am a harsh judge on hummus because Kasra’s is my absolute favorite. I love that they have a whole section of their menu that is just juice! I haven’t had a chance to try it yet but I most definitely will make a point to try it. The staff is really nice and the owner makes you feel welcome. So glad to have this healthy and fresh option in the area. They will be seeing my face often.
