This review is actually around 3.5 stars. I feel like four is a bit generous, but it is definitely worth more than three stars. I’ve been going to this supermarket for years, and while it might not be the cleanest(beware of lots of flies and wet areas), I love going there for the seafood and meat, and I would often go early morning for the bbq pork, duck, and fried rice that arrives early in the morning. Also, you should always get the soy milk just as it arrives all warm and nice. It’s a great place to find all of the seasonings and spices you would want, but a word of advice: beware of expiration dates, especially within the candy aisle. This place gets the job done, and it’s advantage over nearby Thang Hung is that you don’t need to pull a number to wait for seafood/meat. Thank goodness for that.

I like this place. First off it’s owned by the gentleman that owns The New La Crawfish Restaurant a few doors down. This is not the same place as in Ranch Market… quality is worlds apart! The owner is also a wholesaler for crawfish he gets from LA and truly gets the best!!! I had to check out his Asian market after eating at his restaurant. The fresh fish were so well priced. Always look for the clear eyes and no fish smell when purchasing fresh fish. They had a small but fresh variety of fish(no odor). They’ll clean it for you, no charge also. The market had a pretty good selection for being small and I found some new Asian foods to try. They also have two walls with your typical frozen Asian foods and some unique ones. The lady in the fish department was very helpful and knowledgeable. The young gentleman cashier was totally cool and friendly. If you need something special call a day ahead and if they can get it they’ll accommodate you. Cleanliness in the rest of the store was so so but that really didn’t bother me. I came for fresh fish and it was super fresh, cleaned and packed on ice that I requested. Crawfish and fish I believe are their«main» livelihood. PS Happy ending: dipped my whole cleaned red snapper(1 lb) in egg/milk and dipped in seasoned flour. Fried in 1 ½ inches of oil for 4 minutes, flipped and fried 4 more minutes. Was Outrageously Delicious!!! «OOO» moans! Made my homemade shrimp fried rice as a side :)) Heck I’ll be back!!! Unilocal Review #311

I just stopped in once to get a few items. The store sign within the shopping center was not well lit, so it’s a little tricky to find at nighttime. Once inside the store, it was fairly easy to find the items, with the help of one of the friendly employees. Not many asian supermarkets in this area, so it served it’s purpose. Nothing fancy about this market, but nothing terrible either based on my short visit.

Any market with a name as funny as this deserves my attention. This is your typical Asian super market that sells your basic oriental groceries like bok choy, spring roll rice paper, moon festival cakes, Hoisin sauce, etc. Interior is dirty and stinky, but I think it just adds to the authenticity. I came in here with a few of my coworkers(after eating banh mi next door) and they almost threw up from the intense smell that hits your face as you walk in. I found it funny that it didn’t phase me. It actually reminded me of all the other Asian food markets I went to as a child(Welcome, HK4, etc.). It’s not as big as those stores, but it looks like they sell what you need. Not too shabby for a mom and pop shop. If you live close by and don’t feel like driving all the way down to Bellaire, this isn’t a bad substitute.

This is almost the only Vietnamese market on Tomball area. I live in Cypress so sometimes I drive to here to get some Asian stuff. You can find almost Vietnamese stuff here. Vegetable isn’t fresh at all, I guess because It is far away from Bellaire??? There was one time I bought cucumber packed in a package, when I open no cucumber can be eaten because they kept it so long inside wrap package. I paid 2 bucks for nothing :(((. Their meat and sea food counter are separated. If you buy meat you have to pay there, they accept credit card minimum 10 dollars, the same with seafood counter which is not comfortable for me bc sometimes I didn’t bring cash so I have to buy at least 10 bucks meat or seafood, ridiculous. You can have fresh jackfruit, papaya, longan, lychee here. They also have prepared food like sticky rice, «bánh bèo», steamed corn, «bánh bò nng»… They also just accept minimum 10 bucks for credit card at cashier. The owner is friendly, he always greets customers in his funny way. This guy has sense of humor!!! Around this market you can found lots of Vietnamese restaurant like Phở Dung, Bun bo hue Duc Chuong, Bambu drinks, com tam so 9… a lot of choices for you for lunch or dinner. There also have tofu fastfood right next to the market where you can find fresh tofu and prepared vegan food!!!

Lots of variety of Asian food. Messy isles. Back where the seafood and meat counters are always smells like booty. Have to plug nose with the kids when walking by there.

The Hung Dong photo is actually the newer sister food market located on 249/W. Mt Houston. Anyway, this location qualifies as a true mom & pop shop. It has grown over the years, starting with the mini arcade(Street Fighter II) replaced by mounds of instant noodles, to today’s scanner/register equipment. Fresh meat and seafood selection(they are actually separate entities within the store) with Chinese BBQ on the weekends, it is quite the hustle and bustle on the weekends. I come here for my Crawfish needs, and competes quite well against the bigger Asian food markets close by.

I’ve been coming here for over 10 years. Why come here rather than Bellaire? Well, it’s closer and there’s parking spaces unlike at Hong Kong Supermarket. Sure, it’s not as clean as it should be. They have a fly problem and they hang fly stick traps on the ceilings. It’s pretty gross when you’re underneath it and it’s covered with dead flies. If you don’t look up, this market isn’t too bad. They have everything you need to make your delicious Asian meals and the fish/meat selection is pretty fresh. Whenever it’s crawfish season, their selection is really good and a lot of people flock over here for it. I think it’s pretty cheap for the pound but I don’t know how cheap is cheap for crawfish. Is $ 2 a pound cheap? Beats me. This place gets really crowded on Sundays after church so I always come here on the weekdays. Sure, crowds tend to happen but this store is tiny and there’s hardly any room for people to park their carts in the aisle. Service is decent. The cashiers are sometimes 4 teens who are related to the owner. They are pretty fast at the registers but if they have drama in their lives, they’ll pause quite a bit to talk about it within their sisterhood. Overall, I would give this store 3 stars, but since I come here so often and everybody is friendly, I’ll bump them up to 4 stars. Remember, don’t look up at the ceiling and make sure that your pants don’t touch the floor. The ceiling is dirty and so are the floors. Other that than, enjoy! Btw… I was totally sarcastic.
