I ordered the Hawaiian Rib-Eye, this Steak is so delicious. This location is on Kirby close to 59. My waitress was very professional.

Houston’s reminds me of former Houston Rocket Chandler Parsons: consistently good and occasionally great, but never really a threat to unseat some of the proven all-star players… er, steakhouses in the area. And much like Chandler Parsons, I’m not sure if the performance justifies the steep price tag. The rich and creamy Chicago-style Spinach & Artichoke dip is delicious, but be honest: have you ever had one that wasn’t? The California Burger was tasty and the mustard honey and avocado gave it a new dimension, but it left me still a bit hungry and unsatisfied(but maybe that’s just me). The Iron Skillet Beans are superb, well-seasoned and hearty with a sweet meaty broth. My experience with their steaks is that they are huge and cooked to a temperature about 5−10% less than requested. I ordered medium-rare last time and the meat arrived with a soft deep-red center. That’s completely fine by me, but if you like your meat on the less-bloody side, you’d be safer off ordering medium or medium-well. The Roasted Prime Rib was gargantuan, with thick streaks of fat running through. It was pretty good, but you can do much better for $ 34. The slow-cooked pork ribs are probably the best thing I’ve tried off their menu though, tender with a smoky, caramelized exterior. The venue is a bit dark for my tastes, but the service is fantastic. To their credit, they truly want to make the experience as enjoyable as possible. The first time I visited, I had to wait 15 – 20 minutes despite having a reservation. We didn’t complain or anything, but the manager dropped by our table and offered to comp our wine and appetizer. While there are surely more polished steakhouses out there from a food perspective, I know I’ll find myself back at Houston’s soon in the near future.

I’ve had better, but I have also had much worse. Houston’s is a good place to get a steak, sadly, however, that steak is pretty bland and overpriced. Very friendly staff, very class place. Make sure you aren’t night blind or else you’ll trip and fall down in there, it’s extremely dark.

Casual, fine dining at it’s best. A delicious variety of American favorites including seafood, burgers, and steaks. They have a catch of the day(trout when I dined on Christmas Eve) and it was perfection. Service was very friendly. Ample parking in the rear of the building, and a nice security guard on a golf cart will roll buy and take you to the front as a courtesy. Nice touch. I’ll be back for date night!

Houston’s we have a problem! I am a little late writing this review due to the holiday season. I went to Houston’s on Kirby Drive Sunday December 20th at 2 o’clock pm. I ordered the crispy chicken sandwich. I was told that they could not sell that dish because they were out of bread. I told the waitress that was perfect because that’s exactly how I was going to order it. without the bread. On a previous visit I ordered the crispy chicken sandwich and removed the bread and ate everything separate. The bread was too thick and bulky, It took away from the sandwich. I just wanted the chicken, slaw and the French fries neatly placed on the plate. I told the waitress that I was the customer and I could have it any way that I wanted. She went back and spoke to the chef and the chef confirm that I could not have it without the bread. I asked the chef to come to the table and told her why I wanted the dish that way. She then explain to me that the dishes have to go out the way they are on the menu no exceptions. I told her that I was also a chef and I understood that customers have special request and those request should be honored. It’s not about you it’s about the customer. It’s about making the customer happy. She then went on to explain the menu item again and she asked me was I sure that I wanted it without the bread so that there were no issues. I said yes absolutely this is the way I want it. When the dish came out it was perfect I enjoyed it without the bread! I do not appreciate that I had to go through so much in order to get what I wanted. I’m writing this review because I want her to understand when a customer comes in to a restaurant to eat, it’s about making memories, it’s about the customer it is not about you! If a customer says I don’t want bread then that’s the way that you serve it. I did not ask for you to alter the recipe in any way. I just ask that you remove the bread. I did not like that I have to defend what I want in front of my friend. When you are a chef and you go out to eat with your friends, all eyes are on you, they’re looking to see if the food meets your expectations and if you’re going to complain or nitpick about the food. So she put me in a very awkward position but my mind was made up this is what I wanted. The food was great, the waitress was great but i did not appreciate the service I received from the kitchen. Again it’s not about you it’s about the customer!

I have come here for 30 years. Today is a sad day… this is the second time I’ve tried an old favorite to find it’s recipe has been redesigned for cheaper ingredients. This was once a great menu, now reduced to mediocre in depth and taste. Sad end to once was a consistently good place for food… not any more!

A friend and I went here for lunch on a Thursday. Service and food were good. We both ordered the cobb salad. This is a large salad with lots of stuff in it. This may be only time I would say I could use more lettuce. There is so much other great stuff in the salad, but it is really good — just sayin. The chicken is awesome which can be ordered as an entrée off the menu. Don’t get me wrong, it is plentiful of food. Note: Add a little of the warm bacon dressing, really good. Or for a bigger meal the ribs are the best I have ever had.

Had a wonderful dinner tonight at Houston’s. Great food, great wine, great conversation, great time! Have to do it again soon! I had the steak with mashed potatoes and broccoli. The steak was cooked perfectly. We followed with the walnut apple cobbler and brownie and ice cream. Delicious! Our appetizers were the bruschetta with olives, spinach dip and salmon. Service was awesome.

I have never had a Houston’s let me down. We moved closer to this earlier this year, and it’s been just as amazing as the one on Westheimer and the one in NY. This is one of the, if not the, best chain I’ve ever experienced in terms of quality and consistency of food, service, and atmosphere. I always make a reservation for Houston’s because it can get packed. I absolutely love the atmosphere — dark with«spotlights» on the tables, low music, and a nice bar area and seating area. To start, the wine list is awesome. I always look up the bottles, as I’m a newbie when it comes to wines and want to make sure I’m not getting taken for a ride, and the few bottles I looked up were only around 50% markup — compare that to 2−4x markup at pretty much every other place we go to, and this one truly stands out. A few days ago they did swap out a few options for the wine list and the menu, but they kept all of their main items, so not to fear! Food(all a 5): Smoked salmon appetizer is delicious. The portion is certainly big enough to share(which we do) and the dip with the crackers is a perfect pair. I made my boyfriend try this many months ago, and he gave in to me, as he’s not usually a huge salmon person. He’ll be the first to tell you how good the dish is, and there’s no doubt we’ll order it every single time. Veggie Burger — This dish is just unreal. I have never had a veggie burger that compares, and while I’m not a vegetarian, I have tried quite a few. This burger completely embarrasses the likes of boca burgers, and even the meat eaters should give this one a try. My father in NY, the son of a butcher, is who introduced this to me and always talks to me about it. It’s that good. California burger — My boyfriend loves their burgers, and I’ve loved the ones I’ve had in the past. He’s always been a tough burger critic, but Houston’s has won him over and he has this ranked as one of his favorite burgers. Both this and the veggie burger come with a side and my boyfriend always chooses the fries, which are pretty good, even though I’m not a french fries person, and I got the spaghetti squash which is excellent. We’ve also tried their cole slaw, which is another win, if you like a NY style cole slaw. If I haven’t convinced you to run to Houston’s, shame on you!

Excellent place and great service! Came here at 7 pm on a Friday and we were promptly seated for our reservation. Highly recommend reservations as this place was packed on a Friday evening. Appetizers House smoked salmon 5⁄5 — smoked salmon served on crostini with a delicious white sauce Spinach artichoke dip 5⁄5 — delicious chips with creamy dip and salsa Entrée French Dip Au Jus 5⁄5 — melt in our mouth roast beef on a warm buttered French roll. Side of perfectly made French fries. Gravy dip was perfection!!! Service was excellent as they kept refilling our waters and cleaned our table as we were done with each course. Ample parking lot in back. Will definitely be back in the future — glad to find this gem so close by!

First off. BESTSERVICEIVEEVERHAD. The waiter was attentive to our table constantly throughout the whole night. By the time my lemonade was half way down the glass she would immediate bring me another. We sat at the booths in the far back wall and it was very comfortable. The food was 4 of out 5 for tastes. I enjoyed the spinach artichoke dip a lot. It was very creamy and fresh. Left a $ 20 tip for the waitress and a compliment on a napkin. She was superb!

Went for lunch and ordered the ribs(comes w/fries & coleslaw) average price about $ 28 bucks. Okay so the food was pretty good I’ll have to admit. I didn’t know you were getting a whole rack of ribs but yes be mindful its a whole rack! It had a great smoky flavor but the bar-b-q sauce lacked a good rub. If you are a fan of Memphis style ribs or a flavorful base then you may want to try your luck w/the Hawaiian steak. The ribs aren’t going to satisfy that craving. Because it was brunch/lunch time we ordered mimosas which they make with fresh squeezed orange juice at order. Can you say amazing! You can taste the difference in the flavor. Of course service and ambiance left nothing to be desired! Wonderful as always.

Houston’s used to be my go to restaurant. And honestly it still should be. Everything on the menu is made to perfection. This location is usually very busy, but sometimes busy is a good thing. At the bar you can always make new friends and even some business connections. This visit I ordered the fried shrimp and my friend ordered the ribs. Both dishes were absolutely delicious like every other thing that I’ve ordered from this restaurant. For an appetizer the spinach dip is aways a must. As far as parking goes the lot is large enough to accommodate a full restaurant. And there is also a person in a cart to come pick you up in case you don’t want to walk. The service is always great. I think this is an overall great restaurant!

So. I took my father here for his birthday tonight because he is a true carnivore. We made a reservation for 7:15, showed up at 7:25, and they sat us closer to around 7:45. We requested a table for 4, they gave us a large booth… I guess that was okay. Either way, it turned out not being a big deal. Our server was Jon and he was really polite, but it was very busy and service was sub par… they moved very quickly but service could be better. I wished they were more attentive. We ordered two appetizers: the spinach dip(great!), and the smoked salmon(superb!). We wanted the fried oysters in place of the spinach dip but they ran out! At 8 o’clock! So disappointing. Sorry not to be unique but we all ordered the same thing: BBQ Pork Ribs. They were very tender and the sauce has a spicy/sweet taste. I recommend. We ordered dessert: walnut apple cobbler. It came with ice cream and was meh. Took forever to come out. It would have been 4 stars had the service been better, they sat us when we got there, and they weren’t out of an appetizer. If you’ve never been, go. Supposedly this one is better than the westheimer location. Food was still very good. I just appreciate good customer service!!!

We came here to celebrate Father’s Day. And thank god we had a reservation. The wait would have been nearly an hour without one. We still had to wait a few minutes for our table. They offered us a table in the bar area but that’s not why we made a reservation so we waited for our table in the dining area. I got drinks at the bar. It took a while even though their bar is not that big and there were three servers in the area. The house red was $ 12 and my draught was $ 6. Felt a bit pricey but so is the whole restaurant so I don’t fault them on that. I do fault that it took a long time to get my beer because the keg was empty. When I finally got it, she apologized for the wait and took my card. I asked her to close it, but she put the card by the machine and went and bused a few tables before closing me out. On to dinner. The food was great(they screwed up my side orders but fixed it and I got extra). The prime rib was tender and juicy. My girlfriend got the snapper and I thought it was delicious. Our waitress wasn’t very chatty and only checked on us a few times. Not a place I’d go regularly but nice for a special occasion.

Houston’s has been consistently serving delicious, high quality food for years. In fact, my biffy worked here for two years while he was in college. He always talked about the amazing service and food. We decided to take mumsy for her birthday and we ordered… grilled artichokes 4⁄5 okay. why is it when i make this at home, it tastes nothing like the charred deliciousness that I experience in the restaurant? It’s a great appetizer to share amongst 3 – 4 people, without feeling full before the main entrée california burger 5⁄5 my brother loved this burger! the meat was juicy, the veg were fresh. Overall it was dripping with goodness ribs 5⁄5 If it’s your first time and you don’t know what to order, just get this… because i say so fish burger 3⁄5 I wish the fish was a thicker cut. In my opinion, the bread to fish ratio was too high. The salad it came with was a tad overdressed, but overall still good. We met the manager, Bruce, who was incredibly professional and really cared about each customer’s experience. The service was great, and we’ll definitely be back again.

Parking can be crazy if the restaurant is busy. They only have private parking, no valet. My friends and I arrived to Houston’s for dinner on a Friday night. The wait was about 40 minutes, so we sat in the bar while waiting. They do take reservations by the way. We finally get seated with our waitress promptly arriving to greet and inform about their specials of the night. From what I remember, specials were one meat(NY Strip) and two fish dishes. For appetizers, we ordered Grilled Artichokes and Oysters St. Charles. Grilled Artichokes(3⁄5): Salt is a great flavor enhancer, but there was too much in my opinion. There are 3 good sized artichokes served with remoulade. My friends were enjoying this and almost finished theirs. Oysters St. Charles(4⁄5): These are served on the half shell, spinach, aioli, with lemon. I was craving oysters for a while, and these satisfied my cravings! The oysters are fried with a hint of Tabasco sauce. I highly recommend you get this. Entrees, we ordered NY Strip and Filet. The NY Strip(4⁄5) is gigantic, and it is served with a loaded baked potato. I could not even eat half of either. Their medium rare is a true medium rare. Meat was seasoned with the perfect amount, simply moist and juicy. Same with the filet, you can’t go wrong with that. Our waitress was fantastic. I don’t remember her name but was from Chicago. Great atmosphere with jazz music. Only complaint is the lack of salad bar here… I prefer Taste of Texas as my favorite steakhouse due to the amazing salad bar. However, I still recommend you try Houston’s out. You will not leave hungry!

I’ve been to several Houston’s Restaurants around the country and also a few of the other Hillstone Group Properties but this was my first visit to this location. I stopped in mid-week about 7:30PM with no reservation and chose to find a seat at the massive oval shaped bar. I was immediately greeted by Len she was tending the bar with another bartender, after meeting her I was really glad she would be the one interacting with me this evening. After providing me with a clean white cloth place setting she handed me a two sided single sheet menu and took my drink order. After a few minutes my perfectly made Ketel One Martini served up a little dirty with two cheese stuffed olives in a chilled glass arrived. I decided to enjoyed this wonderful cocktail while going over the menu choices. I do like the limited menu selections and although it is limited it is assembled with a nice variety of choices so you won’t having any trouble finding something you’ll love. After consuming most of my drink I decided tonight it would be the«Oysters St. Charles» a half dozen nice plump fresh fried oysters sitting on top of delicious creamed spinach tucked in the half shells with a touch of remoulade. This is fine dining in a somewhat business causal atmosphere. The service was excellent, the drinks and food were absolutely fabulous. I definitely recommend this location and I’m certain I will return.
