This place is a hidden gem north of the heights. Very small hole in the wall. There isn’t really a sign, it just says«Popcorn, Candy, snacks» or something similar. Inside there is not much seating but it is quaint. Menu is small but there’s something for everyone(kids, vegetarians). The Panini’s are substantial and the popcorn is delicious! They have an assortment of handmade flavored popcorn. Great craft soda selection as well. Staff was incredibly friendly, I will be taking my friends there soon!

Picked up a sandwich to-go first visit. Got the chicken cilantro Panini and it was excellent! Made it in a short amount of time with quality ingredients and very kind staff! #LoveLocal

I work super close to here and love picking up lunch for myself and the other girls in my office. Our favorite is the chicken cilantro panini! It is so good and you can def split it if you aren’t super hungry. With the sandwich we usually get a specialty popcorn instead of the chips. I love the Chicago Style which is a mixture of cheddar and caramel — so delicious! The staff is so friendly and is a family operated business! Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a great lunch in the area.

Totally passed it the 1st time when I was driving. Really easy to miss. The place reminded me of these small hole in the wall spots in NY, where the shop was underdone but the food was great! The guy at the counter gave us so much attention and explained everything in detail! He even was super vegetarian friendly! Total plus! The panini was great(we ordered chicken cilantro and vegetarian) and not too heavy! Popcorn was delicious and drinks were good. Totally recommend!!!

If you are busy at work and have no time to go to a restaurant for lunch, this place is for you. I have to free time to eat, I know that it’s bad for stomach and generally for health. In ring restaurant I need to wait 20 – 30 minutes, just to get your order. But not in this case, Paninis are so perfect in this café, they are so tasty with crispy bread skin, warm, fresh. I prefer to come, order something and return working. I come here every week and always feel very satisfied with their food. I like chicken panini, and for snack –cheese popcorn, which is so delicate and good. Nice place for people who prefer to economy money and time, and would like to see pretty smiles of servers!

The service was fast and friendly, well-cooked meat was very tasty and juicy. All the vegetables were fresh. All food is incredible. Also very cool that you can choose toppings for your sandwich. I love this place!

I went here for lunch today for the first time. Really cute little shop! Only 2 tables and a bar to eat at– so better to get your food to go(which comes in a cute cardboard carrier!) I got the lunch box deal — comes with a baggie of popcorn and a bottled soda. I ordered the chicken cilantro panini and subbed havarti cheese for the smoked Gouda. It was melty and delicious! Lots of flavor! The habanero cheese popcorn is the bomb!!! Just slightly spicy(honestly it is less spicy than your avg jalapeño kettle chips) and nice and cheesy. I was tempted by their selection of popcorn flavors, the cookies and cream one looked yummy, but I tend to like salty over sweet. Great selection of glass-bottled sodas from small companies. I got the Prickly Pear soda by Sioux City– tastes like watermelon jolly ranchers haha! I enjoyed my unique meal and I will definitely be back.

I love supporting a place like this. I have family in the area and one day this summer I decided to check out Unilocal for a lunch spot. When I saw where the place was and the reviews I was a little confused because I’ve passed this location all my life and never paid attention to what was in that building. I gave it a try and now I’ve been going once a month. I’ve tried a few different paninis but I keep going back to the chicken and cilantro. You just can’t go wrong with it. I always call ahead to get my food to go and it’s always hit and fresh. I’m not a big popcorn fan but their savory flavors pair really well with their paninis. If you’re looking for an entire meal(panini, popcorn, drink) then it’s going to be around 10 – 12 $ which isn’t too bad. I don’t mind supporting small places like this that are run by friendly people that enjoy what they do.

I found this place using the iPhone’s ‘lunch nearby’ tool when I was running an errand for work today — and it was so good that it inspired this, my first ever Unilocal review! Food: I’m a vegetarian so I got the goat cheese veggie. In general, not a huge fan of goat cheese and I’d never choose it if given an option, but decided to be ~adventurous~ and try it – and it was amazing. Seriously the best panini I’ve ever had. Plus, I opted for their lunch box option which comes with a drink and a side of popcorn or chips. I decided to try their Houston style popcorn(habanero/caramel) which was also delicious. Price: It was $ 12.50 total — more expensive than a chain sandwich shop but given the quality of the food and the fanciness of their drink selection, that seems like a pretty solid deal to me. Atmosphere: It’s a cute place to stop and grab something to go. If you’re looking to have a sit down lunch, this place won’t be the best for that since the seating is very limited.

Very unique. They serve your food in an empty soda box as opposed to a brown paper bag. Limited menu which is nice since it’s a new spot for me and too many items can be a bit overwhelming. You get a panini, popcorn(instead of chips) and any drink from their drink case(varies from soda to cold coffees, all unique brands). The crew is excellent. Extra friendly and conversational. It’s a hole in the wall. Not much sitting space. Over all an excellent spot.(I hope I don’t fall in love with their food as I live sooo far away from this area!!)

I’ve been wanting to go here for awhile and I’m glad I stopped by! Came in at 1130 and it wasn’t too crowded. Small and cute place, but not very much seating available, only 2 tables and the bar area next to the window. Like everyone else, I got the chicken pesto and it was delicious! Excellent mixture of flavors without being greasy. Moist chicken, fresh pesto, sun dried tomatoes OMG nom. Super filling and everything was perfect and A+. Get everything to go and it comes in a cute little 4pack soda thing instead of a box. They also offer a full fridge of unique sodas, none of the mainstream big name companies. A variety of flavored sparking sodas made with real can sugar! $ 12.50 even for a sandwich, drink, and fresh popcorn. A little expensive but I would rather eat here than Panera Bread for that price range!

Mixed experience. Come here for the food, not for the atmosphere or service. The food is just really, really good. You won’t be let down, regardless of what you get. A lot hinges on your taste buds… I’ve tried just about everything, and each has been delightful. The cilantro chicken might be their best item. The popcorn is good, and a fun snack for kids, but I wouldn’t recommend going out of your way to have it. Eating your food to go might be the better option, but if not, sit on the bar. Don’t pick those weird, uncomfortable chairs. Service can be an extremely mixed bag. They’re always incredibly friendly, but make sure they got your order right. I’ve been here several times, and while I’d put this at a four star for the food, they’ve overcharged me in the past, charged me twice, and gotten my order wrong more than once. They always correct it, but just be aware on who’s serving you. Overall, the sandwiches will not let you down. It’s a shame there’s not much more atmosphere, but regardless, you’ll love the food. The service, parking, hours(it’s not open late), occasional random hassle, and atmosphere, not so much.

Really delicious paninis! I found HPP through other Unilocalers and am so glad I tried it! It is definitely a locally run shop, and I always like supporting local businesses like this. The box lunches are $ 12.50 and come with a drink, bag of specialty popcorn and panini. I tried the chicken cilantro panini, and it was delicious with sun-dried tomatoes, pesto and chicken – really great. I also got the chocolate pecan popcorn, which was delicious, but it was actually just chocolate popcorn, as I could only find a few pecans in it. To top it off, I had the sparkling lemonade as my drink – so refreshing!

Love at First Bite. I mean seriously. I decided to come here on my lunch break after reading so many great reviews, and boy I am glad I did! This place is amazing. Located at the corner of W 34th and Ella It is easy to miss so keep your eyes peeled. Any-who I go in, and the place is small and quite charming. As well as the three guys working today. David began helping me and told me of the lunch special. It came with a panini, a bag of popcorn and a drink.(All packaged in the cutest little 4pack bottle box) I told him it was my first time and he was so delighted to assist me in getting the perfect panini. I got the Grilled cheese panini(white cheddar, yellow cheddar & Parmesan) add chicken and bacon. I couldn’t decide on the popcorn so they let me sample. And at this moment I knew i had found love, it’s like he knew exactly what my taste buds dreamed about. I tried the cheddar, denver and nutter-butter. And the Nutter-Butter is TODIEFOR! I can’t explain the joy I felt but man it felt like love. So i chose both the Denver and nutter-butter :) When I finally got in my car I unwrapped my very heavy panini and dug in to a half… Ladies and Gents this is the kind of panini you write home about. This place has secured a place in my food heart. Awesome Food and Awesome Service. I guarantee I’ll be back.

Little hole in the wall Houston joint close to work! They serve paninis and a variety of popcorn. They also have«lunch boxes» where you get a whole panini, choice of small popcorn and a drink. A little pricy, but worth it! The venison panini was my favorite but I’ve also had their pesto chicken — couldn’t choose after that! Popcorn in every flavor you could image. The Houston and Chicago mix are my favorite spicy and sweet! Definitely recommend this place!

I had the opportunity to leave Downtown during lunch one day, and this place is pretty close to where I live — it’s been on my bookmarks for a while, so I had been anticipating this last-minute lunch decision! The plaza HPP is in is… not the most happenin’ spot in town, but since the businesses around it aren’t exactly open, there’s enough parking for you to come in and order some panini. I came in and one of the owners(Charlie?) started to chat me up — where I heard about HPP, what flavors I liked, etc. I pretty much felt like I was talking to a friend who wanted to introduce me to a new restaurant, which was awesome. I got the chicken cilantro panini with brisket and chili popcorn. I’m not gonna lie, the panini was probably one of the best I’ve had — it was made to order, flavorful with a hint of spiciness. I ate the popcorn alongside the sandwich, but I thought it was ok — until I brought the leftovers home. I think the sandwich overpowered the popcorn, since only at home could I taste the smokiness of the brisket and the small burn from the chilies. The folks at HPP really know how to make food special, I’m telling ya. HPP has their staple panini list, but they actually update their menu as they see fit(the chicken cilantro is staple, but the brisket chili is not). While it’s kinda pricy for a sandwich joint, these guys really enjoy what they’re doing, and it’s very evident when you eat their food. By the way — HPP is Downtown on Wednesdays at the farmer’s market at City Hall! It’s a great chance to check out the awesome food these guys are putting out, especially since they’re generally only open for lunch/early dinner.

I first stepped foot in here way back in July 2014. Didn’t write a review then because I took my food to go. Fast forward eight months later, it’s March 2015 and I finally decided to come back for lunch. I opened up the door, walked up to the counter and the first thing Alex(one of the owners/dude behind the counter) said, «Heeey!!! Welcome back!!» At this point, I didn’t think anything because well, that’s something you would say, right? But then he proceeded to say, «Belly, right?!» WHOA! HOLDTHEPHONE! WHOA! Dude remembered my name. Granted, my name is not very easy to forget, but after not being here for eight months, he remembered my face and my name. That, to me, is saying something about customer service. Anyway, I ordered the good old lunch box with chicken cilantro panini. Ah, the same delicious and kind of spicy taste. The first time around, I opted to get a bottle of water instead of some craft soda, but this time I grabbed myself a bottle of orange mango flavored soda by Spindrift and that drink was dee-lee-shush! Perfect combination of sweet and spicy. For the popcorn, I asked for my favorite Chicago style popcorn. If you don’t know what that is, that’s a combination of cheddar popcorn and caramel popcorn. The salty and sweet mix to make something you can’t stop eating. Before I left the little restaurant, I grabbed a box of sweets made by Baklava Café and by the time I’m writing this review, I already ate one piece and it’s not too shabby. The only downside to this place is it does get a bit expensive for daily lunch but I guess considering the location, I can understand why the prices are a bit on the high side. Anyway, I’ll definitely be back. I still want to try some of the other stuff they have on the menu. And their bread pudding. Definitely will be back for the bread pudding. Mmmmm, bread pudding…

I love a good panini as well as some honest, eager folks trying to put something new out there. After reading David N’s FTR as well as seeing the ratings for this place, I had to go check it out. As many have mentioned, this is a small grocery store that happens to have a picnic table outside and a few seats. They make cooked-to-order paninis and have a bevy of other items you can have with them. You can grab the $ 11 «lunch box»(any time of day) and get a craft bottled beverage and popcorn or chips. At the suggestion of everyone, I went for the chicken cilantro sandwich. I asked them to go easy on the Sriracha as I don’t do well with spicy. It had a wonderful crunch and bite to it and was incredibly flavorful. The gourmet popcorn I ordered was the Heirloom Lemon. I tried my friend’s Houston Style(Habanero and Caramel) corn as well as the Salted Chocolate with Pecans. I definitely liked these two better than lemon and was amazed I survived Habanero anything. These guys know their popcorns as they educated us about mushroom and butterfly popcorn(based on the shape of the pop). The crafts soda was soooooooo good — I went for the lemonade. I really like the honesty, eagerness, and casual sense of this place. I wish it were located a little closer to my digs. However, they are at the Downtown Houston Farmer’s Market on Wednesday’s…

Gosh I don’t have anything negative to say about this local sandwich shop. This is a convenient, hole-in-the-wall panini joint. It’s totally a gem in the heights area. We got the Oaxicana special or something(I can’t remember) and it was divine. Perfect ratio of meat to bread and a hint of lime for that acidic, refreshing balance. We also tried their popcorn. So good. I strongly urge you to stop by and meet the hard working owners and chef. They even gave all lady customer a flower for valentine’s. Although the food took some time, we had no issue enjoying a beautiful day at their table bench in front of the shop. Check out pics below.
