Finally found a good sushi place in the area. Fresh fish, generous sized rolls and quality house hot sake. The specialty rolls(and maybe other items) come with a salad and miso soup which is nice. The dining room is nice and personal — small, but not cramped.

Tiny and cozy little gem in Copperfield. I ordered the spider hand rolls. The soft shell crab was cooked to absolute perfection. $ 14 was a bit much for just 2 hand rolls but the atmosphere and ambience of the restaurant completely made up for the price. It was like stepping into another world. The people running this adorable joint are just the sweetest. I’ll definitely be back

Love this place. Good food, good atmosphere, nice small place to spend time with someone. Kokoro is a fun and tonight’s yellow fin and albacore sashimi was delicious.

I love this place! Their quality definitely hasn’t gone down in over the many years they’ve been at this location. On this visit, we had the Hikari dynamite, rainbow roll and a spicy salmon hand roll. The fish tastes so fresh and they don’t skimp on quantity. The staff is very friendly! You can’t go wrong here!

Quite good sushi. I came here while traveling for work and it wasn’t busy but the waitress and sushi chef took the time to make me feel welcome. My dinner came out quickly and both the presentation and flavor were top notch. I would hit this place up if I am in the area again(unlikely as that may be).

This place is great, a hidden gem! I’ve taken my daughter to eat here since she was 1, she’s now 10. It’s changed a bit but only abiance wise; it’s better! The mood is set as soon as you walk in, it’s dark and you here a man yelling welcoming Japanese phrases. The setting is perfect for a date or nice lunch, or dinner. Service, the waitress we get loves my daughter and she gets very happy to see her, heart, melting, now. I love when I frequent a place and the staff aren’t only kind to me but also to my child! Yes there is a small language barrier because of accents, but I never have any issues with communication. I always get exactly what I ask for here, and the first time I ask! Drinks, I’m a water drinker with sushi, only because I need to save room, but they have a vast array of beer and saki. I have had the tea here it’s kind to me, however I frequent the water so it’s been a while. The beer, wine, and saki collection isn’t large, but larger for the size of the place. The food(pause); absolutely divine. Last visit was Valentines Day with my daughter, we ordered 3 rolls and edamame. The rolls were, Crunchy LA, Tornado, and Shaggy Dog, I was highly impressed, as always. I usually get the Viva Las Vegas roll instead of Tornado, but I wanted to try something different, I think VLV has been replaced! This Tornado roll has potato strings wrapped around it, then it’s fried, oh em gee; I’m in love! I’ve tried quite a few rolls here and depending on your taste buds they are all pretty tasty. The fish is always top quality, fresh, sushi grade deliciousness. I recommend anything on the menu! All in all its a five, food is awesome and service is great. I think the five is set because in the 9yrs we have been coming the consistency keeps us loyal. I also gave the five because I’m a mom and my daughter isn’t treated like a child but a regular; I love that!

I came here and was surprised how good this place is The staffs were friendly, place is cute and intimate. Whatever you order you get a complimentary miso soup and salads(3⁄5). It’s nothing to rave about but the main food were delicious! Chopped spicy scallops sushi(4⁄5) Viagra roll(4⁄5) — It was the perfect item to get on Valentine day! Lol Overall, a good solid sushi restaurant.

I didn’t expect much when the boyfriend said he was going to take me to a great sushi place. And when I saw its unassuming front in a strip mall I expected even less. The interior of the restaurant is really nice, and the waitstaff is attentive. We sat at the sushi bar and the chefs were very nice and asked frequently if we were ok. I ordered the spicy tuna and the sashimi kingdom rolls and the boyfriend gets the chirashi. The spicy tuna was great, just enough spice. The sashimi kingdom roll isn’t as big as I had thought, but it had every type of fish in it. Boyfriend’s chirashi was beautiful. It had all of the fish and even had roe and spicy tuna chop. The rice in the bowl was perfect and I regret not ordering it instead. 5⁄5 would go back again!

I loved this sushi restaurant! Its a small place, so the atmosphere was more cozy and romantic. It’s a small family business I believe. When came in, was greeted and seated fast. They give a complementary salad with ginger dressing and miso soup. I ordered seaweed salad, tuna tartar, chopped spicy scallop(2pc), fresh salmon sashimi, seathorn roll, baked scallop roll, and viagra roll. Definitely recommend getting the tuna tartar!!! I don’t really like tuna but this dish is a completely different taste since its in a special sauce. The quail egg makes the tartar amazing! Seaweed salad was one of the good ones and loved the fact it came with imitation crab. Salmon sashimi was fresh, average size, but just enough fatty. Chopped spicy scallop was ok… viagra roll and seathorn roll was very delicious! Seathorn had more seafood while Biafra was more savory. Baked scallop roll was good but very heavy! Lots of cream cheese! Overall recommend this place. It’s a gem in this area compared to other nearby sushi restaurants. Since its a small business the service is a little slow. But they are very friendly.

I visited on a Monday evening after work. They’re located in a short shopping strip surrounded by a bustling shopping area with very heavy traffic flow.(HWY6 @ Hwy 529) They’ve got all the doors and windows covered up with a small sign in the door stating they’re open for business. No wonder I never noticed them before. I stopped in to try their sushi. Ordered the baked scallop roll(Sorry, didn’t take a picture) and the first few bites were delish. It looked more like a cassa-roll than a sushi-roll. It was served steaming hot with a thick layer of a cheese mixture over the top of rolled sushi. About halfway through, I started feeling a little queezy and the once delish dish started to taste funny… as if the ingredients were no longer melding very well as it cooled. Either way, it was an ok dish but not one I’ll order again. They’ve got an extensive list of rolls to choose from. I like their menu as you can easily tell what’s cooked, what’s raw, what’s hot, what’s mild, etc… All the rolls were between $ 9 and $ 18 each with most being on the higher end. A little too pricey for my pockets.

It’s hard to find quality sashimi and Japanese food for a fair price. Eating at Hikari sorta hit the nail in the head, I came in with my wife and kids and we all ate like emperors, I had one of the best sashimi platters I can remember eating. Their hand rolls are well crafted and balanced, food is not salty at all, like 90% of the sushi houses in the area. Service was an 8/10, only not a 10⁄10 because language was a bit of an issue and my son’s food was forgotten twice. I really recommend this place

Walking in, the staff greets you with such warmth and humor that you instantly feel pleased with your choice. The interior is lovely, and the menu is organized effectively and enticingly. They hand you light miso soup and a salad. Then your food comes. Delicious. I had had too much sushi already, so I went for the seafood bowl. It was full of delicious rice, all manner of seafood and veggies, all cooked well without being swimming in oil, or over seasoned. I’ll be back soon.

I almost feel guilty leaving this rating and review, but then I remind myself why I am doing this: I’ve taken my girlfriend here many many times for sushi dinners over the past couple years, probably spending over $ 2000 if I had to ballpark it. The waitstaff are great, and 99% of the time the food is also. We’ve never had any real issues until now. I ordered the sashimi sampler along with some specialty rolls, which all came out very quickly and looked great. After eating most of the sashimi, my girlfriend went to eat the last piece of salmon. I noticed that she had a horrified look on her face before promptly spitting out the fish. At first I thought maybe she just didn’t like the taste or consistency, but no, there was a sharp piece of bone in the thinly sliced salmon! I’ve never encountered a bone in a piece of sushi in my life. This seems to be a massive mistake to me, as sushi is centered around the skilled cutting of raw fish. I really couldn’t believe it. I notified our waitress when she returned to take some plates away, and she fearlessly checked the fish for a bone — which was confirmed. She apologized and quickly took the plate away to inform the chef(s). After some commotion and time elapsing, she returned and apologized again. This is where things get worse… Our service quickly degrades, aside from repeated apologies from the waitress(who had nothing to do with the bone). We did not receive any apology or follow up from the sushi chef in charge, and in fact they seemed to want nothing to do with us. After we finish the rest of our meal(yes we finished it because we give the benefit of the doubt) we received 2 small free ice creams(a shame treat). We never received a replacement for the piece of fish, nothing was discounted, no removal of the item, just a normal check. My girlfriend and I were fairly shocked given the amount of time and money we have spent there. Very disappointing indeed. We tipped the waitress approximately 20% per usual regardless, as she did her best given the situation. I really hate to leave this review, but I felt insulted and slighted by all of the events that took place. I don’t know if I will be back again…

I really wanted to like this place but it was sooo terrible. The service was fine but the food just tasted so stale, old and low grade. I felt like they were cutting corners on the food such as the shrimp didn’t even seem like real shrimp and the rolls that come in about 6 pieces are over priced at about $ 10+ and doesn’t even have REAL crab meat you have to pay an extra $ 5 for that Calamari tempura: 1÷5− wasn’t even real tempura batter, they used more of a panko crusted batter which wasn’t good, this also over priced for the quality and amount you get Miso soup: 3÷5− was complementary so it tasted ok but I wouldn’t order it on my own Crunchy LA: 3÷5− would have been good if it didn’t taste so stale and old. It was fried but when they served it to me it seemed as if it had been premade and just sitting there. Was not hot or crunchy Hikari dynamite: 2÷5− who puts onions with sushi? And there was a lot! Ugh it just ruined everything and also that the roll was drenched in the sauce or whatever it was. It would have tasted good if the sushi didn’t keep falling apart and wasn’t soaked in an overwhelming sauce Crunchy shrimp 2÷5− the roll was so simple with just shrimp in it but the fact that the roll was huge and the shrimp inside was small, not fried in tempura batter and also tasted like fake shrimp meat upsets me Will never return, angry I spent $ 60 on this crap of so called food. Sushi was not good nor taste«authentic»

I go here all the time, nice intimate place to go on a causal date. Every time I’m craving sashimi this place is my go-to. The employees are super friendly, fast, and they always greet us with a smile. Onto the food – I got the Salmon Naruto for an appetizer, not what I usually get, but I just wanted to try it, it’s not the best thing, but it’s not bad either. I also ordered the chirashi, never disappoints. More than enough to fill me up. I also ordered the Negi-Hama roll. It was good, kind of reminded me of the spicy tuna roll, but not as spicy. My boyfriend ordered the spicy salmon and bohemian rhapsody. Our food came out fast and was good, no complaints. It’s not the best quality sashimi and sushi you can get, but it will satisfy your sushi craving for sure. And the pricing is pretty reasonable. Definitely will come here in the future.

Interior set up is nice and intimate. The place is dimmed so prepare your eyes to see darkness upon entering this place. Miso soup and salad(4⁄5): Average miso and the house salad had a unique taste. The dressing is probably house made with ginger, garlic, and vinegar(?) The dressing had a sour after taste but the salad was fresh so no complaint there. I can see some people liking the salad and disliking the salad. Tempura roll topped with crab meat(4⁄5): Served fresh and crispy. The tempura inside the roll is super crunchy while the rice outside is soft. My favorite roll of the night! Dinner Bento & Sashimi platter(4⁄5): For those who enjoy sashimi would find these two items pleasant. Presentation is nice and simple. Served with several sashimi slices with tempura potato and onion. The rolls were delicious! California roll were decent but huge! Udon(3⁄5): Served in a hot dish bowl. Average broth with noodles and seafood. I wasn’t a huge fan of the seafood in my udon. I wouldn’t recommend this dish because of the lacking flavor. The udon comes with the pepper flakes which gives the noodles some flavor and spice. Green tea ice cream(4⁄5): Ice cream served with chocolate drizzle was a great way to end my meal! Nothing too special but it was still good. As for service, it can vary depending on how busy this place can get. This place seems to get busy during dinner more than lunch. I would say this is a great place to have an intimate dinner date.

I stopped in for lunch because I read they supposedly had good bento lunches for the money. Before I get into the food I must highly commend the female waitstaff for their friendly and top notch service. While looking at my menu and throughout my lunch they never missed checking and serving me and the other patrons in the restaurant in a perfect timely precision. No one went without drinks being filled or their food brought out late. They were like busy bees doing their job in perfect harmony. Seriously this is a rare thing to observe nowadays at restaurants. They sure could teach many waitstaff the proper way to serve a customer!!! I ordered the salmon bento which came with a piping watery hot bowl of miso soup and a salad with very white vinegary salad dressing. Unfortunately most of the rest of my meal tasted like it was precooked and reheated. My salmon was cut into strips with vegtables and severely overcooked to the point I couldn’t eat some of it because it was so hard. My tempura also looked like and tasted like it may have been fried prior and refried for my entrée. I also received a slice of white potato as one of my tempura pieces. Kind of odd. The rice was very dry. I was given bow-tie pasta with like an oily coating on it which I thought was odd and just another cheap filler for my bento box. The California rolls were the best item in my bento box. I really found the bento box below par. I much prefer quality over cheap quality filler items. I felt kind of sad that a place with such awesome service got cheap with the quality. They do have a large menu with many items. They were busy at lunch time. Maybe if you pay more for the other entrees the quality is better? Also the owner yells something in Japanese to everyone coming and going. It always didn’t sound the same though. I made sure to tip well because of the awesome service and I had no clue what the owner was yelling at the people leaving. At least he couldn’t yell«cheap» at me! Unilocal Review #284

We enjoyed our lunch at Hikari. We stopped in randomly while traveling down 529 headed out towards Katy and almost decided against it on account of the exterior appearance. The restaurant is on the edge of a strip mall and all of the windows are blacked out. Once inside, we were very pleasantly surprised by the cozy and well appointed dining room. My first thought was that it would be perfect for a romantic evening with my wife, even though today we had the kids with us. The blacked out windows provide for a more intimate atmosphere and the collection of Japanese art and bonsai catches your eye. The rolls were all very good… we tried the spicy shrimp crunchy roll and the viva Las Vegas roll. Both were unique, contained fresh ingredients, and delivered awesome taste. They had a perfectly sized avocado roll for my 1 year old and a Philadelphia roll for my 4 year old. Everyone ate everything on their plates! BOTTOMLINE: A very good sushi restaurant with a pleasant atmosphere. Great for a date night.
