I’ve seen some very bad reviews on this place but I don’t see why it’s so bad? For my boyfriend and I this is our go to place when we’re in the mood for Chinese, it’s delicious and we’ve never had a problem with customer service. Even when we can’t find time to dine in and just carry out, it’s always prepared within fifteen minutes of ordering(maybe we just order when it’s really slow?) and the food is always very hot when we get it. Highly recommend it!:)

We order from Happy Lamp about twice per month. The owner, Anna, is very friendly. My kids love seeing her when we eat at the restaurant. The food is always fresh and delicious. We love the moo shu chicken, sesame chicken and vegetable lo mein. It’s a convenient and easy restaurant to frequent.

So, I’ve been here twice while the staff is nice, the food is nasty. I came around opening time and my fried rice was steale… As if they used left over rice from the night before… Because that would save money and that’s how they stay open. I’ll never give this place another dime of my money. You can smile in my face all you want but if your going to serve me leftovers like a dog then I’d rather not make the exchange. They get 1 star for effort.

Ever since we moved in this area, we’ve been looking for a Chinese restaurant that’s less than a 5 minute drive and doesn’t require us to go to Chinatown. My co-worker recommended Happy Lamp and said he’s been going for years. The décor inside is actually pretty nice. There’s a mural painted on the wall and the furniture and table is high quality. I thought the menu would be very Americanized since there wasn’t another Asian in the place other than the waitstaff. However, was surprised to find under the Chef’s Specialties there were authentic dishes. We opted for the Four Treasures in Bird’s nest(beef chicken shrimp and scallops in a brown sauce in a fried noodle bowl) and the sole fillets with vegetables. Dishes were a bit pricey $ 13 per dish but when the food came out the portions were large! I enjoyed the bird’s nest(I love crunchy noodles) and the meat inside was cooked very tenderly. The sole fillets were flavorful and there was a good meat to vegetable(snow peas, carrots, celery) ratio. Overall, food was tasty for a place not in Chinatown. Waitstaff was nice and refilled our waters and came

A couple of these negative reviews are questionable. Do these people have their own Chinese chefs? This is a really good neighborhood Chinese restaurant with a pleasant and quiet dining room. I had the Seafood Delight in Bird’s Nest today and it was great. The variety is not what is found in other Chinese restaurants, but the food is always excellent. I do remember encountering a semi-rude older woman five or six years ago who may still be the owner. But, nowadays I only see a young woman who is always very helpful and friendly.

Lived by this place for years, but wonder why it has stayed in business. People love it, although the food is awful. Every few years I try it again, just in case I change my mind, and always disappointed. Don’t waste your hard earned cash.

Food was disgusting and microwaved. When I complained about the food. The manager/owner actually started yelling at me. She was very mean and rude.

Yummy! I am always on the hunt for a good orange chicken and this place has one. My husband likes the pepper steak which I find delicious as well. We both love the hot and sour soup too. We have ordered take out and have dined in too. The place is clearly dated inside, but staff are friendly and we have never had an issue with anything. I recommend giving it a try.

Food was fine. Chicken lo mein tasted good. Kung pao chicken had an odd flavor. Tea pot was dirty inside(dark tea stains). Service was really nice. Overall fine– wouldn’t come back though.

I love Happy Lamp! Dumplings are awesome! The spring rolls are best with a hot mustard. I love the shrimp in lobster sauce and shrimp lo mein. I always get the treasure soup to go for my next day lunch, but always ask fro extra treasure. My favorite home Chinese.

Food was reasonably priced($ 8 – 10), but not great. Nothing was really bad, but not really worth coming back for either. Service was good. Not much else to say.

This is a great example of the hole in the wall, neighborhood joint. Not gourmet, not fancy, but good food and good people have kept me coming back for years. Great lunch specials, I always go for the general tsao’s. I rarely go for dinner since the lunch special is such a better deal, but if I’m looking to grab a quick and tastey bite, this place is my go-to.

Five stars because the food is really good! For years I ignored this place because it looked like nothing special from the outside. But that changed after some friends invited me to meet them there for dinner. The inside is comfortable but also nothing special. It is family run and they are all friendly. But the real reason to stop here is the food. The selection is large, well priced, and served quickly. Grab a takeout menu while you’re there. I’ve become a regular takeout customer and they definitely don’t skimp on the portions.

Is the food gourmet? No. Is it good basic Chinese? Yes Does it have any dishes that stand out? Yes: spicy crispy sole filet, volcano crispy shrimp, beef lo mein(it’s better here). We come here for comfort food. The staff knows us by our names, service is usually great — though it often gets busy here since the locals love it and they do a brisk take out business. I’ve been coming here since 1983.

In and out in 45 minutes… not bad! Lunch date with 3 coworkers. One of them leaves in the area and recommended it. When you walk in you realize this place has been here a long long time. It’s definitely in need of updating. We all ordered off the lunch menu. Mine was under $ 7 and included soup(egg drop, won ton, or hot and sour). The soup was served with delicious won ton crispy pieces. I had the egg drop soup and thought it was good. I had the General Tso’s chicken. It came with a healthy portion of the chicken, fried rice, and an egg roll. The chicken, rice, and egg roll were all good. The chicken was swimming in a very sweet sauce. At first it was good but after a while it was overwhelming. Paying was easy, we just went up to the counter and told them what we had. If I lived near here, I’d probably pop in occasionally, but since I don’t I wouldn’t make a special trip. That’s a 3 star meal to me.
