I’m rating this HEB based on other HEB locations around greater Houston. Pretty good meat and produce selections(not great). The store seems to be fairly clean and the employees are generally helpful. My biggest complaint is that I can’t ever seem to walk into this store without someone trying to convince me to change my electric provider or my bank. Some guy from the bank branch within the store actually followed all down the produce aisle trying to convince me to switch. I literally had to stop pushing my cart to tell him to please leave me alone or I will have to contact the store manager and let him know you’re harassing customers. The peddling and the panhandling downgrades my evaluation of this location.

Apparently store management doesn’t feel like cleaning it’s coolers. Look at pic of egg coolers

145 — 132 — 117. These were my average heart rate while shopping at this HEB. I always race against time, as I am always one of the last customers. Because of Highway 290 construction, I had to detour after work. Then, because of the store hours, I only have few minutes to grab something quick before it closes at 11 pm.(For some reason, HQ won’t update the store hours. It closes at 11 pm, not midnight.) The staff is friendly and I never feel being rushed. I love their store’s logical layout. I could just go in and get out quickly without incident. It reminds me of an Olympic-sized swimming pool. Once I learned where everything is in the store, I never need to ask anyone for help. I love HEB’s store-brand merchandise on the weekly ads. However, not all stores carry same weekly sales. So, I have to come here on Wednesday just to pick up the ad and plan my grocery trip for the week. Boohoo… the one I received at home does not apply to this store.

Tried to buy wine here before and ended up with sour(turned) bottles on more than one occasion. Tried to talk to the manager and she flatly said I «was one of the only people she has ever seen return wine to this store.» Gee thanks, I’ll make sure you don’t see me again, rude. I’ll just drive the extra miles to Bunker Hill!

Who doesn’t love HEB. The store is always clean, well lit and stocked. They offer great fresh produce and meats. I never have to question anything I buy from HEB. The checkout lines move fast and the staff is always friendly. I love their weekly meal deals… such a great idea to set up a meal and offer so many different components of it at not just a discount but free! HEB’s products are quickly becoming some of my favorites. Offering new flavors and high quality products at reasonable prices.

This rating is strictly for the kempwood store they have limited inventory and most of the staff is very rude! I would rather drive a little further to the bunker hill store. They are always friendly and efficient no matter how busy they get. I probably won’t ever go back to the kempwood location again.

I’ve been an HEB shopper for quite a while. I wish the stores were more consistent with the products they sell. Produce selection is decent but it often spoils in a day or two. Meat selection is decent. Beer and wine selection is pretty bad for an HEB. Store is crowded with a lot of wandering. Parking lot is a disaster. Walk at your own risk.

I call it the«Ghetto-HEB» only because it’s small and panhandlers have frequented the parking lot and even inside the store on one occasion. Management quickly stepped in and handled it. Prices on items are a bit less than the Bunker Hill monster HEB down the road and it’s usually a quick in and out for the essentials. The food is fresh, the staff is friendly and the open checkout lanes are plentiful.

A decent HEB and not my regular HEB by any means, but this location fulfilled our needs when we were in the area and needed a few items. This particular HEB isn’t as large as others nor does it stock a large variety of products. It’s basic and pretty much a no frills HEB. The bakery is small and lacks the specialty type breads but you’ll find the standards that are fresh. They do make tortillas fresh in-store and those are always great. The produce section didn’t have a large stock but everything looked fresh and organized. The same can be said for the rest of the store. We found the items we wanted and were able to check out quickly since the line was moving efficiently. The cashiers all seemed to be on their game with moving lines quickly. I can’t complain about this location. It’s your basic, staple items type set up with a few extras thrown in. While I prefer my regular, large variety«upscale» HEB, I won’t knock this one. It provided what we needed when in the area and getting in and out was no hassle. Sometimes simple is just what’s needed.

I went here earlier today to buy some items with my coupons from the mail and was hoping for double coupons with the store’s coupons but noticed today that they only made coupons for the storebrand products. My thoughts on the store brand products are that the bodywashes are not consistant with the namebrand and the dishwashing liquid is like pure water, I dont wanna spend my money on watered down products. I’d rather purchase the namebrand with coupons of course.

Yeah it’s not one of the fancier larger stores, but I would still greatly appreciate a dry/bulk section, especially for spices and a larger health food area. This is still a solid store though, and I usually find all the fresh produce I need here.

Like most chain groceries, there is a difference between the fancy hebs and the more«normal» ones. What I liked about this one is they had a lot of good discounts for their meat. I also like their bakery section as it is limited but every thing looks fairly high quality and sealed properly. Seemed to also have a lot of cheap long horn(Texas) gear so my husband was happy(long horn jello molds anyone?). The staff were actually friendly and asked me what I needed when I was looking for something. Event he cashier was nice and didn’t make me feel like I was a nuisance.

HEB is my favorite store in the area. Well-stocked, great prices, friendly and efficient staff. Switched to this store from the Walmart Market across the street on Gessner. Total contrast. At this time HEB is the better choice.

I come to this HEB when I don’t feel like having a mini high school reunion at the«oh you fancy huh?» Bunker hill location. Yeah I wanna shop in my yoga gear. SO?! I feel less judged here. It is pretty average and you can get out of here spending less than you would at the giant store over off the freeway. This store meets your basic needs for a grocery store. You can get in and out at record time. For the most part it is clean. I have had some issues with the meat expiring before the sell by date and once I even found a dead fly in my shrimp from the seafood counter. Gross, I know. This is my I don’t wanna be an adult grocery store. 911 emergency, I need milk, bread, stuff for a quickie dinner. go to HEB.

This HEB location keeps getting better with time. Over the last couple of years they have added a sushi station and started making those yummy southwest style tortillas in house :) Their veggie, meat, dairy and wine selections are always good which is all I really care about on a weekly basis. If I happen to need some sort of fancier ingredient I’ll probably end up elsewhere but, for 99% of my everyday needs, I will hit up the HEB on Kempwood… especially since the competing grocery/megamart across the street is completely unbearable every single time I go(see my other reviews or look on a map to see what I’m referring to). All the employees are generally very friendly so you can usually escape in a good mood even if it’s a busy weekend day. Good selection, fair prices… works for me!

After many calls to other stores(some employees were even confused by our request), we contact this HEB and YES they sell dry ice by the pound and yes it is in stock! This was our saving grace for our Halloween party. So for that reason, if I ever need dry ice again, I will come here. Other than that, this store is fine for your average grocery shopping. It’s got a large parking lot and cheap gas. For the actual groceries, I prefer the Wal-Mart market across the street as I think the prices are consistently cheaper. It is, however nicer and easier to navigate than the Kroger a few miles up on Gessner and Hammerly. This HEB just can’t compare to the fancy-pants enormo HEB on Bunker Hill and I-10 though. However, if you need to pick up a few things and don’t want to go on a half-day supermarket spree, skip Bunker Hill and this HEB will do just fine.

This is where you purchase food… imagine that. Its better to keep the money local/in state so why hand over your cash to Wal-Mart if you dont have to?
