I am a regular and this place is just that — a neighborhood bar. All the staff are amazing and friendly if you take the time to get to know them(had to put that in there after reading a couple bad reviews below). Georges is welcoming to everyone! Fun on game days, good drink prices, great service — I could go on and on. Love my Georges!

Went here on Memorial Day, from Dallas. The bartender was great. There was a small issue with the manager Walter, he was so damn rude and drunk while on the job it makes me wonder why the owner would even hire such a person to run the bar. I’m sure TABC would love hear about this and see this idiot in such a drunken state. Then to see him drive away so intoxicated.

I’m giving one start because of the rude bartender. I’m not from the US, I went there last week on Tuesday with a friend and He was trying to make a joke which I didn’t get because I’m not from here and he got all like«whatever» instead of explaining it to me, which was very rude but I didn’t pay attention to it. Then this week we went back on Monday, he wasn’t really welcoming and then when I started asking about the happy hours, the kind of drinks/beers he had, he had a really stubborn attitude to me, so I limited myself to ask for a beer, then when I got the check of course I wasn’t going to tip him, he didn’t deserve it. When he saw the receipt and no tip then he said«ah! That’s why I don’t remember THEM, I forget because THEY don’t tip. So, who’s THEM? If it’s because I’m Latin, that is racist. And if you want a tip you better be nice, you get what you give. So, not coming back to that place again!

This is the spot. I don’t like to troll the various bars in the gayborhood like I did when I was younger. George is my place to go. The staff is always friendly and the service is fast and friendly. It’s an excellent place to meet up with friends and drink the night away. If you enjoy pool, there are two tables and they also have darts. There’s a front patio to watch people as they troll from bar to bar and a back patio, to sit with friends and shoot the shit. There are a lot of regulars like me that Parton the place and you can usually find me on a Saturday night at Danny’s side of the bar with a bag of Jolly Ranchers.

I’ve been here a few times and it’s a nice country bar(not cowboys) to let your hair down, meet interesting people, have a few drinks, play a game of pool or enjoy your grub from Barnaby’s(which is across the street). You’ll find mainly men here however there are few women as well. It’s not a pick up bar for lesbians, but I suppose it could be depending… The bartenders are friendly as well and that’s a huge plus!

George bar is a great place to have drinks with friends. They have TVs with sports playing. Good prices and strong cocktails. Great place to meet for happy hour. I love that they have ginger ale. The bar staff is friendly and not bad to look at either.

One of the best run and cleanest bars in the neighborhood. I love that they host a lot of events to support the gay community. It really makes George a staple in the community. The crowd is most often very diverse in age which makes it a fun place to hang out. The drinks are VERY affordable and you can’t find better prices in Montrose. This is a place I feel comfortable taking straight friends, coworkers and family. Would definitely recommend

Been here a handful of times, and have to say I have enjoyed it every time. No pretentious folks here. The bar staff seem to be on top of their game and are polite. It does get crowed during Texans games, but that’s expected from a sports bar. The darts are a fun game to play with friends while you cocktail it up. Cheers!

George’s is always fun! There is an eclectic crowd, though definitely more men than women. They have darts and pool and a small front porch. The bartenders are very friendly and make excellent drinks, especially their shots! And rhe jello shot syringes are always a good call. George’s is a solid stop if you’re in the Montrose area and looking for casual fun and delicious shots. It’s a regular Sunday Funday stop for us!

Georges… who doesn’t want kolaches and screwdrivers on Sunday mornings at 10 for a dollar? Or drag queens on their way to Tonys having a drink before judging a strip contest on the weekend? Georges doesn’t have Ripcords back patio, but they do have bartender Aaron.

Great stop for a well made drink. Come by for Aaron, he is an amazing bartender. If you are looking for all country this might not be the spot. If you are looking for a great crowd and a lot of fun then this is the spot. Thank you Aaron!

This a great place to meet up with friends for drink after work… It seems like a gay bar is a gay bar is gay bar not matter where you go or what city you are in… George Country Sports Bar is a great place to meet real men who are not stuck up or pretentious…

Great bar great people bartenders are the greatest unless Aaron is working then everyone is at other bartender and you have to wait for a drink because no one wants Aaron to wait on them because he is the rudest bartender ever some one that will get mad at you because he forgot your lime and when you ask for one he gets mad at you that’s why no one likes him

Five flat screens showing sports, how can this not be a sports bar? I found the service to be good. The crowd is mature, which suits me fine, and more diverse than most might expect. This is a good place to stop by and have a drink and shoot a game of pool.

Bartenders do an excellent job of avoiding eye contact of any sort! The good thing is you can sit here for hours and not spend a dime because the bartenders(esp the unhappy older gent with the glasses) don’t want your money. On the plus side, if you do get a drink, everything is super cheap. We eventually got two vodka drinks and a beer(after beseeching the manager to please have someone wait on us twice!) and the total was $ 8. Also, the crowd seemed friendly. For a place that generates business by selling cheap drinks, my expectations are already very low but the really awful service was so astonishingly poor that even I was surprised. If your goal is a cheap drink served(eventually) with plenty of attitude, this is your place. I’d prefer to pay $ 15 for a drink and not be ignored.

Not much of a sports bar. You are lucky if they even have the sound on for a major game. Bartenders are about as friendly as mud. We liked it the first few times but realized it’s just another stuck up gay bar. You can’t have CNN on during the playoffs and call yourself a sports bar.

When friends call and want to meet for a quick drink without having to spend an hour to get ready — this is the place to meet. The staff is always very friendly and welcome all that walk(or stumble) through the door. On my last visit there were people from every demographic, so everyone feels at ease. They have a nice patio that you can take your drink out and watch folks pass by or go to Barnaby’s. While it might not be the final stop of the night, it is at least on the tour.

I am a fan of George’s. Simple bar with a jukebox, pool tables, and darts. This is not the place you go if you want to dance but rather if you want to chat up a few friends and play a game of pool. Strong, very reasonably priced drinks. Since it is rights across the street from Barnaby’s it is very convenient to drop in after your meal. Parking is not bad here in relation to trying to park near JR’s or South Beach. Biggest perk… strong yet cheap drinks.

I readily admit I spent less than five minutes in here. Why? I assumed, perhaps too logically, that a sports bar located in Texas would be *airing* a seminal Texas football game(UT vs. WVU, presently ranked 11th and 8th in the country respectively). There was also a solid Aggies game on. The UT game, unlike most that are aired on the ridiculous Longhorn Network, was on in primetime on Fox; the Aggie game was on ESPN, also in primetime. And what did George have on ALL of its many televisions? The UGA game! I mean, SERIOUSLY??? I don’t know if the owner went to U of H or irrationally hates Longhorns or what, but failure of *any* Texas bar to show *either* a UT or A&M game when they’re on in primetime amounts to an EPICFAIL of indescribably huge magnitude. And an unredeemable one at that. My list of permanently blackballed spots is short, and my time at George was the short itself, but it’s now on the list.
