I had the banana cream pie. It was fresh and tasty the only thing I didn’t like was the pie crust was bland.

I drove over 400 miles round trip just to try this place. I see it on the news every Thanksgiving with crazy long lines and wanted to know what all the fuss was about. I now know and all I can say is the pies were worth EVERY single mile, even if walking. I got 6 individual slices strawberry cheesecake, banana, boston cream, chocolate, dutch apple and lemon. We had a pie eating party and shared and sampled AMAZING pies. I will definitely do the drive again! I’m not a big crust fan but OMG their crust is amazing!

I can’t get enough of this this place. Thank goodness they sell by the slice, a whole pie in my refrigerator would be dangerous! Also this way, I can get my fix of a few favorites and not feel guilty!

Oh my gosh. Lucky I don’t have read this review aloud. It wouldn’t be polite to talk with my mouth full. Every once in a while, we make the trek down to Flying Saucer to pick up a few pies. I’ve tried the key lime, lemon, and a few others. The lemon is currently my favorite although a few others I want to try. The pies have just enough of the icing/filling/whatever you call it under a layer of whipped cream. The taste? Awesome-sauce. The sell by the pie or by the slice. They take plastic. And while it may not be in the best of neighborhoods, it’s worth going anyway. You won’t be disappointed. (My mouth is still full)

My first time in, i picked up 4 single slices,(banana cream, coconut cream, cherry & boston cream), Boston Cream didn’t have chocolate on the top, the custard filling didn’t quite taste like custard, out of the 4, this was my least favorite. The cake part had a strange aftertaste. Cherry — crust was great, there was more of the red goo filling than cherries, but the flavor was good. Banana Cream — Excellent, full of bananas and cream, the whipped topping didn’t have much flavor, but all in all this was very good, crust stayed crispy, didn’t get soggy. Coconut Cream — Very good, same whipped topping as the banana, but it had shaved coconut added, which enhanced the flavor. Crust was good and crisy, and stayed crunchy, never got never got soggy(slice sat in the fridgy most of the day.) Price for single slice was reasonable, and the portion HUGE. I will return :)

Excellent Pies! There is a line around the building sun up to sun down during the holidays. It’s a family owned business that has been handed down multi generations. However, it seems like nowadays only middle aged Hispanic women bake and run it which I hope doesn’t mean the owners don’t care anymore as they never seem to be there. Nonetheless, the pies are delicious.

Everyone raves about their strawberry and cream pie. Don’t waste your time with this one. It was nothing special. Just cool whip, at least that’s what it tasted like, and strawberries. However, their apple pie and pecan pie were on point.

Fast, easy service despite the hoards of people there picking up Thanksgiving pies this week. PSA: No pie slices until AFTER the holidays. This is disappointing considering the pies are a bit pricey, but it’s local, delicious and the fact that they need HPD directing traffic because the parking lot is such madness during the holidays says it all. Well worth the $ 13-$ 16 for a pie. Get there early for best selection. Once a flavor is gone for the day — it’s gone.

I usually love this place but after today I’m not so sure. Went and picked up a couple of apple pies this morning and was so excited to eat some. Cut myself a slice and found a hair baked into the crust. Safe to say I’m pretty grossed out by this. This is a really popular place so I thought they’d be more careful and vigilant when it comes to making sure things like this don’t happen.

I saw this place yesterday and decided to stop by. I got a peach — one of my favorite pies. The crust and the filling were amazing. It really is just like homemade. It is also a very big pie. You can cut it in eight slices if you want and it is around $ 13. Overall, it was everything I could have wanted in a pie store.

I originally had their pies several years ago at an event where they were catered, but today was the first day I stepped inside the actual store/bakery. On a Saturday at 1130am, it was dead and I thought they were actually closed. Needless to say, I got in and out quickly. In the front area, there is a long counter with a register where you order. Further from the door is a small area where there are boxes and supplies. While paying, you can see and hear the pies being made. Some things in the pie making process are done by machine and some by employees. You can see the freshly made pies on a rack right behind the counter and it smells pretty much like a pie shop in there. They basically divide their menu into fruit pies and cream pies. I want to say most whole pies ranged in price between $ 12.75 and $ 14.75. On this visit, I opted for 1 coconut cream pie slice and 1 pecan pie slice. Slices are $ 3.50. I’m still looking for someone to knock off my current favorite coconut cream pie… thus the reason for my visit today. Did flying saucer win out? …No it sure didn’t. The custard filling inside the coconut pie was much thinner tasting, thus more cheaply made than my favorite. The top cream portion was alright and the crust was decent, not frozen, just not nearly as sweet and sugary as my favorite either. The pecan pie was a little better imo, but not even as good as Goode Company. I’d still come back to try other pies, especially the strawberry that they are famous for since I’ve never had that particular one.

We stopped by Flying Saucer on a whim after a good lunch and we needed our sweet fix. It was my first time here, but I was delightfully impressed! When we first went in, there was no one in the place(on a Friday afternoon) and the girls behind the counter got our orders pretty fast. I just ordered a slice of their strawberry pie(which I heard was delicious), the bf ordered a whole banana crème pie and my friend ordered a slice of their apple pie. The strawberry pie was THE and the banana crème did not disappoint either. Both were very delicious and you can tell that the pies are made with fresh ingredients. Overall I know I will find myself back at Flying Saucer. I always see people lined up down the street during the holidays and now I know why. lol I just wish that the pies lasted long enough in our house to take a picture haha

My boyfriend got the idea to buy a whole apple pie for the both of us… Haha it was good! Perfect sweetness, the crust is my favorite. It was buttery and flakey. He also got a slice of the blackberry and it was ok… Not that great.

I decided to try this place because we were having company come visit for a weekend, and I had heard such good things about the pies here. It’s also close to where I live! I ordered a whole coconut cream pie, and two slices of the strawberry cream pie so that my hubby and I could try it out. The strawberry cream pie is *so* good! It has huge fresh strawberries in it along with a delicious sweet strawberry glaze and sweet whipped topping. And the crust on the pies is crumbly buttery nommy-ness. The coconut cream pie was also very good, but the strawberry cream pie was definitely way better. My guests enjoyed the coconut cream pie very much. We will definitely eat here again!

Don’t confuse this with flying saucer bar. This is the one and only flying saucer. Where pies are out of this world. If you come here during Thanksgiving you’ll wait several hours for pies. News coverage, police directing traffic, and a line several blocks long. If you come any other time of the year you can walk right in. Get the fresh strawberry pie. You will not regret it! They also have fresh peach and more when in season. You can also get slices if you don’t wants whole pie. Been coming here for years and haven’t had a bad pie yet. This is truly Houston’s best.

Love love love the fresh strawberry pie here! They always use whole strawberries and the cream that goes along with it has a slight hint of honey which makes it SODELICIOUS! I can’t give enough praise to this pie. If you’re looking for something with the same flavor but less cream, go for the fresh strawberry cheesecake pie. Basically same filling but made on top of a cheesecake base with much less cream.

I’m not the type to eat pie with ice cream. I like pie by its lonesome. I look forward to crust, since it’s my favorite part of the pie. We had the apple pie and the crust wasn’t flaky or buttery. It crumbled and dissolved into the apple pie filling. The flavor balance was too extreme for my liking. The crust lacked flavor and apple filling was overly sweet. If their crusts are consistent across all pies, I probably won’t enjoy anything else. Overall, was disappointed.
