This place is fake. They’re overpriced. Their«aguas frescas» are made with powder. The waitress was rude. The taco was mediocre(tortilla slightly burned). Not coming again. Seems like since 1978 they sold out along the way.

This is an excellent hole in the wall for home style cooking. Service is quick. I love the Tacos al carbon and queso flameado. It can get loud and typically gets busier later in the evening on weekends.

I love this restaurant. When I am feeling like a good solid plate of homestyle mexican/texmex, this is my go to. The margaritas are great and its quaint atmosphere is a plus. I love how the restaurant space is laid back but very clean. It’s the perfect place to go to when you want great service and food with no gimmicks. Some places try too hard with crazy menu items or décor. And it’s one of the few places on Fairview that has a bit of its own parking, easily accessible.

Food was decent. Nothing that made me say wow. The service sucked. Another waitress had to refill my tea because my waiter never came back to check on me. Price was good, food was good one star for each. Nothing else.

I was in search of a great Mexican food restaurant that wouldn’t break the bank. It simply has very solid food. It doesn’t revolutionize any dishes, but does them all fantastically. Definitely worth the try. Pros: amazing food, price, and excellent service(Jose is awesome!) Cons: cokes come in cans(no refills)

I was introduced to this gem at least 10 years ago by a very close friend. It is a simple place with simple food – meaning it is not glitzy mexican food. Yesterday I craved plain cheese enchiladas and rice(cannot stand refried beans, we have never struck up a friendship). It certainly hit the spot. Yummers. My darling hubby had chicken enchiladas. Unlike me, he is not a big fan of this type of food. If I had to choose one food to eat for the rest of my life, it would totally be mexican. I must add that the margaritas are amazing. I am warning you DONOT have ore than 2. I did that once, against the advice of my dear friends, and like wow good thing I could walk to their house and crash for a bit. If you are in Montrose and seeking a quaint and comfy no thrills tasty meal, consider El Paraiso. Thumbs up and 8 happy Halley puppies wagging tails. 6 Happy Halley dancing puppies.

One of the main things I consider when reviewing a Mexican restaurant is the quality of the flour tortillas and the of the hot sauce. The tortillas were good I give them an 8 out of 10. And the salsas 7.5−8.0 It has been years since I have eaten at Paraiso, Overall, a good casual place to stop in for tacos. Glad I revisited.

I thought I would stop in for lunch on a Tuesday since I drive past here a lot. I ordered 2 fajita chicken tacos a la carte without tortillas (allergies) and with cheese. The meat was a bit dry but tasty. Service was very friendly and not rushed. Friendly Fast Affordable

For the menu pricing, I’d have expected better quality… I ate alone and spent about $ 20 before tip… not that it was bad, but it could have been better. Service was ok, but certainly not exceptional… though 2 people tried to take my order, I think they were busier than they expected, but there were lots of empty tables. The food was very authentic, but it was like it was missing something. I had enchiladas The level of heat(spicy) was good, noticable, but I could still taste my food. The meat just needs a little kick, almost as simple as salt… but not on top, in it. The rice was really good, and I liked the queso con Carne(chile con queso with beef). 4 stars because it was overall good. Not 3 because it was nice to have authenticity… Not 5 because I think it’s slightly overpriced.

I love this place. Definitely the best Mexican food in my neighborhood. La Mexicana disappoints but this place is consistently good. More authentic, convenient, affordable and delicious than most. It’s my little neighborhood paradise for sure!

Let me explain… My boss said this place was a must try for the queso… Yea the queso and salsa were pretty good(hence the one star) but that was about it. I had the crispy beef tacos and they were Bland! Beans were nasty… Rice was just ok… chips were ok and service, well the lady was nice but thats it. I don’t see myself running to get back there anytime soon.

I love, love, love this place! Been a customer since the 80’s when the Mother of the owner(Daughter) ran the place. My how the family has grown, yet the food is just as delicious as ever — same recipes. The margaritas are fabulous too! I’ve shared this jewel of a restaurant with many colleagues over the years. Furthermore, I recommend El Paraiso to all our new incoming employees that want authenic Tex-Mex food.

I am from southern California, and am always on the lookout for Mexican food with a more traditional flare than TexMex. I must say that this restaurant certainly met my expectations, and will be coming back again sometime in the future. I had a combination plate with a taco, beef enchilada, and a tamale. All were tasty, and the chips & house salsa combined with my Modelo complemented the meal excellently. The service was excellent. You will not be disappointed.

In the category of cheap tex-mex, El Paraiso is excellent! The restaurant is off of montrose, tucked into heart of things. The restaurant is authentic, simple, warm and the service is nice. I am a huge fan of their chips and salsa and one of the main reasons I keep coming back. I almost always get their crispy tacos with avocado or guac rather than meat. Their beans and rice is good. The wife usually gets veggie fajitas and is passionately in love with them. Currently this is off the menu, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they name it after her. They have a vegetarian plate that has a nice variety of things on it that I also like. They have they typical mexican beers in bottles and make a mean michelada. I haven’t tried the desserts as I am always stuffed after the main course.
