I never thought I would be giving a place a one star review but there’s a first time for everything.
To start off, I’ve been coming to this location since middle school. I LOVED the previous doctor. He was so professional and understanding and I actually looked forward to my annual exam. When he left, I was a bit disappointed, but due to the convenience of this location, I decided to continue with the new doctor.
Let me start off by saying, DON’T GO HERE. Dr. Bao is ONLY after your money and she does not care about your well being. Honestly, an optometrist is still a doctor so I don’t understand why you would choose to be in this field if you aren’t looking to be HELPFUL.
I have given this place many chances. I made an appointment, was rudely told to wait for over 45 minutes. They even let another walk-​in before me and I think it was because the doctor knew her. It was really rude and they assumed I didn’t understand mandarin but I understood everything they said.
During my consultation, I knew that I had very bad astigmatism but the previous doctor always let me order color contacts. Dr. Bao told me I had to order a special kind made just for me so I agreed and the bill turned out to be over $ 200. For two pairs of contacts. But she assured me this pair would last me for the entire year. She wouldn’t listen to me and tried to cut the visit short because of the line but I still had questions! I WANTED A PAIR OF GLASSES AS WELL.
When I got the contacts, I could barely see. They came in little vial bottles which I later found online for only $ 60. I came back to the doctor and she said she has to prescribe me hard contact lenses. They charged me even MORE for that (close to $ 1000). However, the one bright side was that they told me to bring my color contacts in for a refund. I did. That was all during April of last year.
Then in December, I came in to get my hard contacts polished. Not only did they try to charge me for another doctor’s visit, they actually yelled at me to pay even though I only came in to get it polished (something I did with the previous doctor… And I later found out other optometrists would never charge you for)
Fast forward to August, I called in advance to see why they still haven’t refunded me the money from the color contacts I returned last year. Mind you, the lady GUARANTEED I would receive a refund because of the HUNDREDS I paid.
She said she can’t refund me anything because she did not find the contacts in time. Are you serious? So I asked her if anything was credited to my account. She said no, all that she could do was give me a «discount» on my next appointment with Dr. Bao.
This is the only time I’ve ever given a place one star and hopefully it’ll be the last. I’m done with this place.

Do NOT go. The front desk girl do not want to help anybody other than talking shit about all the patient. Very ruled, unprofessional, HORRIBLE attitude! Strongly suggest the doctor at least change a better staff to deal with customers

The $ 55 eye exam was well worth it. The doctor explained very well with my eyes condition. She was as knowledgeable as the retired Dr. I’m glad that she took over the business. They kept the in-​house technicians.
I’d return until the construction on Bellaire finishes.
