Creator and chef Mara Serna had been at El Monty before moving on to Houston. She has returned to feature a recurring pop-up on the Sunday and Monday evenings previously occupied by Hot Joy. The focus is fideo, the opening night menu featuring four varieties of same. Expecting larger entrée sizes, we had only ordered two-three might have been a reasonable option for the two of us, even after starting with the sprouts and pinwheels. Seafood was superior to umami mushrooms in our opinion. Drink options are from the Monterey’s great beer/wine list. I would probably choose beer over wine as the best pairing choice for this menu. Service is from their«regulars» as well, invariably excellent.
