I actually regretted going to this restaurant for lunch today. I think I got mislead by the 4 star rating on Unilocal(avg of only 2 reviews. I found later that this restaurant was listed under a different name-north eastern – on Unilocal with avg of 2 stars). I also ignored another warning – very few cars outside and only another table besides us at the supposedly peak lunch hours. I was about to go to the Mongolian hot pot but was tempted to try something new today. I never had Chinese north eastern food, so I asked the owner to recommend the best dishes. He recommended Cake with Smocked Pork and Pork and Intestines with Pickled Chinese Cabbage. Both are pricier than other items on the menu but neither were good, especially the Pork and Intestine with Cabbage, look and taste just like some leftover homemade food. For a $ 30+ lunch for two people, the food was just way below expectation.

Dong Bei is a hidden gem far away from the typical hustle and bustle of Chinatown. Situated next to the new Mongolian Hot Pot, DB has stayed off the beaten path and serves an amazing spread of food with imported items from this particular region of China. The Wow Factor includes a whole roasted lamb. This massive dish feeds upwards of 20+ people(see picture) and is perfect for bar mitzvah’s, graduations, anniversaries, birthdays, baby showers, bachelor/bachelorette parties, interventions, and others. They also offer large and hefty portions of skewered meats — everything from traditional lamb to beef tendon. Because it is under the radar, there is usually plenty of seating and parking. Highly recommended.

The Dong Bei hand made noodle is very good! The sausages is very yummy too. If you are looking for the Chinese food there is the place to try.
