Was there once almost 2 weeks ago and will be my last. They charge for everything. Parking $ 10 at a Plaza mall, cover $ 10, drinks expensive as hell and taste like juice since they dont put enough alcohol. Music extremly loud that you have to walk outside if you wanna talk to someone. If you have this kind of money to burn and never get drunk, this is your place, other wise go somewhere else and really have a good time. With $ 30 I can take Über round trip from my place to Crocker Bar, have a few drinks and a great time.

I would’ve given it a 0 but Unilocal doesn’t have space for places like this on its list. Recently moved to Houston and wanted to explore the night life around the area. Came to Crystal, the worst decision I could’ve ever made! The cover charge was overpriced, drinks were so diluted and the bartenders were horrible at taking orders. The bar was the worst, music was ok, and the were… Ok. I ordered drinks and maybe the bartender didn’t know I knew what I was asking for, kept pouring cheap alcohol and on top of that overcharged me for the drinks. After two drinks I was done with the place. Decided to payout my tab and I got served with a ticket over $ 120. Outrageous. I asked for the receipt. Only showed a charge of $ 70. Wanted me to sign a ticked for $ 120. Couldn’t believe. I asked him to show me the rest of the ticket that stated I had ordered 120 $ worth of drinks. The bartender refused to show it to me and told me that I had to sign it. I asked to speak to a manager. Never showed up. The owner is a member of «colores» a group that supports The gay community, if only its supporters knew the type of service and treatment the establishment gives its costumers, maybe they would reconsider having Crystal be part of its events. Horrible service. Never going back there. FYI next time you go make sure to ask for a receipt with your credit card. You might be over tipping. :)

Once you park, pay cover and get your first drink, you’ll be out an easy $ 30. Beers tend to be «cool» at best and often taste past dated(like been from hot to cold and back and forth) and the mixed drinks are expensive and weak. The owner will not turn on the AC till late so that way you can buy more drinks since its hot. The DJ will not take requests and if he does, don’t expect to hear your song anyway. He tends to stick to hiphop, rap, reggeton, bachata, and tribal. Since its a club with varied age groups, I figured they would play a little of everything but I’m mistaken… no dance, no trance no pop. Lots of gangster wannabes and riff-raff people go. wish they would enforce a dress code. The restroom has two urinals broken for who knows how long… figured with all the money he’s making, it would have been fixed by now. The club has great potential but because of greed it tends to lack that ability to make it great and worthwhile going.

Good music. They have two dance floors and its one of the few gay latin clubs in Houston. Its usually a $ 10 cover on Saturdays. Wed and friday I believe the cover is less. Park in the lot next to colorado for free parking. The club parking lot will charge about $ 10 to park. I had a bad experience previously with a bartender charging me higher drink prices($ 57 for 4 well drinks) and i put in a complaint. Therefore i had stopped going but i decided to give it another shot and looks like they let that person go.

Perhaps the largest gay Latino night club in Houston, Crystal Night Club holds a reputation for being part of the gay community for more than 20 years. The establishment has been a gay night club since 2006 but is the new location for it’s Inergy Night Club crowd. Many Houstonian’s recall this location being a premier Salsa night club from the eighties and nineties but it is now with new owners for the gay community. Crystal has two rooms, the larger one plays Latin music and the small room plays U.S. mainstream and pop. This place has massive sound and also had the loudest sound at the 2009 Houston Pride Parade. Like South Beach, this establishment has a nitrogen machine making it the second club in Houston to have one. Although it’s location is outside of central downtown, it is still close to Montrose and easy to get to. Lately the club has been hosting pageants and live shows from Club Papi. Only unfortunate thing is that the club does not have a good online portal for information, hopefully they will have one soon.
