The fried rice is amazing! The micheladas are sooo good!!! Everything on the menu is delicious. Try to get there early when it opens, any later and you will be waiting for parking.

Best fried rice in town and the portions are ridiculous. They do fried rice better than the Asian joints in town.

I don’t think there is a Mexican seafood place in this town that I don’t like, but I like Connie’s the best out of all of them. I used to go to the Airline location all the time so I was pleasantly surprised that they had a location a few blocks away from me when I moved to Spring Branch. Great, cheap seafood and awesome michelada’s. You might have a tough time finding parking, because this place is always packed… for a reason.

This is one of the best Mexican seafood restaurant, the area in where is located may not be the best but the food is really good. One of my favorites in the menu is: Shrimp A-La Cancun «Grilled» Octopus Tostada Seafood Sup Oysters on the Half Shell Grilled Jumbo Shrimp And the Food it’s not expensive also the serving of the food it’s fast The majority of time this place is always packed!

Altho i really enjoy the shrimp and rice here. The«shrimp to market» price is a total robery. I checked the market price for the shrimp i was going to order. $ 5.75 to $ 6.50. When i call to order fried shrimp, they told me $ 25.99 per lb. This is nearly 5 times more the market. the excuse«is because is cooked» that if i wanted uncooked shrimp, then i will get the market price… Talk about taking advantage of people who doesn’t know how to research and actually care…

To be honest, I would give it 3.5 stars… but I can’t, in good conscience, give it 4 stars. Maybe because Mambo’s has already taken its place in my heart as the cheap-as-dirt, Mexican seafood joint(with Chinese fried rice) of choice. But if you’re wondering what kind of place this is, this is Mambo’s, but more of a mom-and-pop feel; dirt-cheap deep fried seafood with fries, or fried rice. Micheladas, beer HH, seafood tostadas galore. Hubbs and I wanted to eat out as a fun treat(we’ve been eating in lately and trying to save money), and so I searched for a place close by that had four stars… and who knows, but I’ll just try 1 $ sign. And Connie’s was the first thing that popped up. It was 5 minutes away and we were starving, so we headed to Long Point. It definitely isn’t the most ideal place you wanna spend a Friday night(in a straight-up ghetto area, where the parking lot is surrounded by iron fencing and people cram their cars in a square parking lot, or you find parking on the curb on the side of the street where the road is dilapidated and falling apart). But it’s the kind of place Hubbs and I love: hole-in-the-wall. When we walked in, we were the only non-Hispanic people in the whole building, which I took to be a good sign as cheap but authentic food(we did get a lot of stares). We sat at a booth and we got served by a nice lady and guy who took our drink/food orders. We got the small Special Fried Rice, Onion Rings and the Super Seafood Platter, thinking we’ll just share. The fried rice came first. Holy Rice, this was a huge mountain of fried rice! Again, I had my reservations(with Mambo’s taking the #1 place in my heart), but it was actually a decent fried rice. We then got the onion rings, which were thin and still crispy, fresh from the fryer. Lastly, the Super Seafood platter came out, complete with two pieces of fried fish, two shrimp(butterflied), two scallops and a fried stuffed crab, served with salad, a piece of toast and some fries. Everything was pretty tasty, but it kind of tasted the same after a while(being made with the same batter and probably fried in the same oil). Hubbs said the crab was just mooshy and gross, so avoid. I thought the fish was okay, but it’s not as juicy as Mambo’s. By the time we finished eating dinner(maybe around 6), the line at the door was really long, and the place was booming. I’m glad we got there early and was able to give some poor souls who were ready to get their seafood on a seat. Overall, service was okay, food was SO cheap, taste was okay, ambiance was… awkward? I’m glad we came, but next time we’ll definitely head over to Mambo’s. The seafood tostadas looked really good, though. And a table next to us had some kind of seafood soup/stew that looked really tasty and comforting. So maybe we’ll be back again soon :)

My dad took me here for lunch a few weeks ago and I have to admit I was a little skeptical at first. The place doesn’t look like much on the outside and it’s not in a great neighborhood. All that aside, it was one of the best seafood restaurants I have ever been to. I had fried shrimp, catfish, and fries and it was incredible. That’s not even the best part. Both our meals were under $ 14.00 because we had their lunch special. I’ve had seafood all over the world and this place is definitely in my top five. Check it out!

Good prices, great food good portions. There can be a little bit of a wait but once you are seated the service is very quick. Parking is limited. Happy hour is from Monday to Thursday import and domestics 2 for $ 5 from 3p to 7p. They even have a security guard out front.

Yum! Great food, inexpensive and they give you a lot of food. My co-workers and I come here at least once a month or possibly more. We tend to get the fried shrimp and fried rice. I normally just share with one of my co-worker and we are usually both full off of one plate. The service was awesome!

This was the last restaurant I visited when I was last in Houston. I loved their chilled carbonated water with fresh lime juice and salt. It was like a salty lemonade. We had some tostadas and fresh seafood. The service is fast and great. It gets crowded on the weekends as single men and families congregate there. I love them. I only wish the restaurant was larger given how crowded it gets.

Good food, cheap price, and humongous serving… I just can’t simply expect more. Breaded octopus or calamari and pork and ham fried rice are my favorite. Hint: a small fried rice is good enough normally for 2 people, and a large portion can feed 3 – 4 — just glance at the size of the to go box that they put in the counter for the fried rice, you’ll get a picture of how much rice with each portion.

Connie’s is one of the things I miss about Houston. They make a damned good Michelada, and the service is great. I went for lunch by myself, and had to share a table with a couple because it was so crowded. Did I mention it was 2pm on a Saturday? Not even prime lunch time. I’m not sure I’ve ever driven by during operating hours when this place wasn’t busy. They have a great selection of combo meals, and if you like fried seafood, this is your destination. The service is great, and you might find that surprising since the atmosphere is very laid back. There’s usually 5 kids running around, and while they might be a little loud with their giggles they are usually respectful. As I was moving my oysters on the half shell platter to grab my entrée, someone actually came by and took the platter out of my hand before I could even set it down again! I’m not sure I’ve ever had a bad meal here. Every combo comes with shrimp fried rice, which in itself is delicious. The portions are big and the prices are low. The only negative is the lack of parking and non-seafood options.

This is a Mexican seafood restaurant and fish market selling fresh seafood. The fried seafood is consistantly the best. I typically get a fried seafood platter consisting of fish, shrimp, oysters, scallops and stuffed crab. These items can be ordered individually or in combinations. Sometimes when I don’t want fried food, I’ll order the fish fillet ranchera which is pretty good. These dishes come with some letuce and tomato and a choice of french fries or fried rice.
