It’s dirty and I am no where near germaphobe. As in greasy slippery floor and grime in the corners. As in no health inspection paper in the window, so I looked it up after the fact at the city website. There were 3 violations on 4÷4÷16 but thank goodness they were just the obvious(not clean). I ordered a hamburger and ended up with a bacon cheeseburger. Think«cheeseburger, cheeseburger, cheeseburger, Pepsi, no coke».

Had to come here for lunch. Not too bad. The cheeseburger combo was $ 7. Every thing made fresh. Fries were also good. Restaurant wasn’t the cleanness. It was easy to locate, right next to the Exxon on the corner of Sage and Woodway St.

Passed by it and thought no way. Asked the next day about good eats in the area and it came up again. The Bacon Turkey sandwich was fresh. Good classic crinkled cut fries. Inside was dirty though and customer service was mediocre. I still want to go back to try the burgers.

I shall return to this DIVE because its cheap, portions are good, & foods actually not bad Prettyy, prettyyy, pretty good as Larry David would say. The customers are almost all service blue collar workers in this upscale neihborhood. The place is ran down but I ate and got outta there quickly which is what I needed for my lunch time. They close at 3:00pm.

Considering this is one of the wealthiest neighborhoods in Houston, the place looks like absolute crap though the polite way to put it is it’s a «dive». I’m not kidding either — it’s as basic of a diner as it can get with basic bingo parlor chair and if you were blind folded and brought here, you’d think you had just landed in the bad part of Pasadena(as opposed to the Cosmopolitan part of Pasadena). So why the 4 stars? They are the only game in town and have held that spot for at least the 10 years that I can remember. That’s quite a feat when you consider how many restaurants in the most popular parts of town shutter their doors after a few months so they must be doing something right and that is feed all the contractors that service the luxury houses in the area at reasonable prices. If you go there at high noon, you’ll see a half dozen service trucks and vans inside while the hard working immigrant owner(s) work hard to bring out the food. The food is kind of all over the place and you can get a burger, chicken sandwiches, fajitas, or cold cut deli type sandwiches. Granted this isn’t a health food store, but for less than 10 bucks, they will get you out of a bind and back to your work. I am curious how the place is in the evenings. I wonder if the Tanglewood folks dress up and go there to dine. Someone let me know.

Cheap lunch baskets if your looking for a quickie. Place is a dive but the surprise is that the burgers are good especially the fried shrimp burger. Definately a place for locals but hey you have to live a little sometimes.

Well for one thing I don’t go to a deli to be ask«Do you want fried rice»? Burgers are greasy and taste okay but you will be regret it in the end… There is nothing around Woodway and Sage. so this really is your only option if you are starving. so it’s convenient. Best thing to get is the chicken basket… I asked if they had buffalo wings because they advertise for it… and he said«we do not have buffalo(wing) only chicken(basket). you want fried rice??» Well after doing some research I found an old clip of the great Marvin Zindler reviewing Bob’s Deli Station…(Watch Below Clip) They had a Temperature Violation

This is totally a DIVE place that would seem at home in Montrose but instead is located in the Galleria /Woodway area. I had a Gyro combo w/fries and a drink which was a new menu item. There’s no Gyro-spit here so temper your expectations. However, the warm pita Gyro with the meat they grilled with onions, tomatoes and a form of Tzatziki sauce was pretty darn good. The fries which are easily screwed up if the oil isn’t hot enough(greasy) or too hot(burnt) were just about right and generous portions. Total meal was $ 7.85 which is quite reasonable for the Galleria area. The inside looks pretty shady but take a gamble and give this place a try. In these post-recession times, Bob’s offers great value for the money, especially considering the neighborhood.
