Al’s Pizza House

This place is nasty. I ordered a bacon burger which was supposedly their specialty. It was the worst and most plain burger I’ve ever had. Think SAMs club frozen patties cooked well done and 1/​8″ thick. And a giant stale bun. Not to mention they forgot the bacon. And the slice of cheese was just sitting on it, not even melted. I could have gotten a burger 10x better from McDonald’s of all places. The wings sucked too. I ate one and threw the rest away. Wasted my money. Oh well.

My wife and I moved to the area after living near the Al’s on the West side of town. If you are looking for quality food, this is not the place. Cook at home or go out. This place is about delivery. There are a lot of menu items I would not order from Al’s, ever:
Fried Mushrooms (Taste like they were frozen or canned)
Chicken Fried Steak (Looks and tastes like a frozen pre-​made patty that was deep fried)
Hamburgers (Small and not too flavorful. The meat needs an overhaul)
Meatballs (Bland, Taste like they were frozen)
However, there are some things that I have found are better than most other places in the area. If you are going to order from here, I recommend:
Bone In Chicken Wings (Their wings actually have meat and are well seasoned. The lemon pepper and garlic are our favorites.)
French Fries (You would think they would be cold but other than needing salt they are perfect)
Cheese Sticks (They often run out of them they are so good)
Turkey and Ham Sub
Crispy Chicken Sub
Lasagna
Penne Chicken Carbonara
The pizza and salads are edible but nothing to write home about.
As for the service, I would say both locations are similar. You will wait an hour for your food and the driver is rarely the most professional looking delivery person you will meet but, I will say that I have rarely gotten a wrong order and they always fixed it. My drivers have not been creepy or have they refused to come to my door.
Honestly if you are looking to order food in this part of town Al’s is one of the better choices if you know what is good and do not require a lot of customization.

Since my last review, we have eaten here several more times. Again, this is one of the very few places in my area that will deliver to my address, so we have tried very hard to find something tolerable about this place. Unfortunately, we have not been able to.
I can’t speak directly about customer service because we always place our orders online via Eat24, but I can say that this restaurant is really, really, really BAD about reading the «Special Instructions» on the order. I will leave notes in the Special Instructions section to customize the food order, such as «no onions on the burger», or, «no olives in the salad», and they always screw it up anyway. When I receive my order, it is almost always WRONG.
Everything I have ordered from here is just «meh», and I have ordered something different every time I have ordered, which is about six times. This last time, I ordered the club salad, the meatball sub, and the chicken fried steak. The meatballs in the meatball sub were dry and hard, like they had been microwaved for too long, and although the sandwich has marinara sauce and cheese on it, they are still able to make it taste very dry and bland. The salads are decent, but they are really small and pretty expensive for some leaves and a few bits of lunchmeat or chicken. My husband had the chicken fried steak, ate two bites of it, and threw it away because it was cold and soggy (hello, cut the CORNERS off of the to-​go containers that contain battered things that absorb moisture!)
Also, delivery takes an hour, every single time. It doesn’t matter what time or what day I place my order, delivery always takes an hour, at least. So I have to wait an hour to get my sub-​par, incorrect food order. By the time I receive my order, everything in the takeout bag is sweaty, and the food is cold.
Sigh.
I think we are done with Al’s Pizza House.

This place has horrible customer service. The person I placed my order with over the phone was very rude and nasty. Also the delivery guy was very creepy and made me feel uncomfortable. On top of all of this the food was sub-​par so I won’t be eating here again.
