Allergy & Asthma Associates

I really, really wish I had checked Unilocal reviews before going here for allergy testing. I’m a very busy professional and need rush therapy the next time I do allergy shots. This company’s website advertises that they offer rush therapy, and when I went for initial doctor visits they indicated that while they were «understaffed» at the time they would be able to schedule me for a month later for rush. That was last November. Its now about to be April and they are telling me I can either go to another office in, for example, Clear Lake, or wait another three to four months before they address their «understaffing» issue. I’m not comfortable undergoing a medical procedure that involves risk in a city in which I don’t live with personnel I haven’t interviewed. If I had known these people would never be able to help me I never would have wasted my valuable time (never mind the hundreds of dollars in testing). As a sidenote while I really liked one doctor I finally saw, the first one I tried to see refused to see me when I was ten minutes late, even though the reason for my lateness was that their website makes it impossible to find their correct address and their front desk gave me bad directions that morning. I was extremely ill, and in tears, and he told me in person (seeing that I was very ill and very upset) that he couldn’t possibly accommodate me given his busy schedule. Lastly, good luck getting through on their phone lines. They often ring to a «we’re too busy, try again later» outgoing message with no opportunity to leave voicemail. Truly amazing they are still in business.

They did allergy tests on me but didn’t tell me ahead of time that I would be expected to pay 600 dollars out of pocket. I really think that is unethical. I won’t go back.

Although I have not been back since my last 3hr wait period, this review is for the house call I received from Dr. Moore. Although I was not able to speak with her person because I had to get back to work, she did call me and leave messages until she was able to reach me. We coordinated a good time through TEXT! That was convenient and made up a little for the wait time.

If doctors who failed to follow the Hippocratic Oath had their medical license removed, we would probably see the number of doctors drop dramatically. At least that would be my experience. I don’t claim to be a medical expert as I did not go to medical school (although I considered it), but I am sharp and analytical so you can’t just feed me a line/​diagnosis, give me a prescription, and shovel me out the door. Sadly this happens to me all the time. I have no primary care physician for this reason. /​rant
I decided to go to an allergy clinic after what is deemed to be a bug bite left me with lots of swelling and quite a bit of pain. Picking a doctor is like throwing a dart at a board with your eyes closed after someone spins you around in a circle. Alma mater is not always an indicator of knowledge and ability. Case in point: I’ve heard Juilliard graduates musicians who are nothing to get excited about.
I decided to give the Allergy and Asthma Associates clinic a try. I liked that many of the doctors still write journal articles as a result of their ongoing research. I made an appointment with Dr. Anthony J. Weido. Dr. Weido is an M.D. as well as a Fellow of the American Academy of Allergy Asthma and Immunology (FAAAAI).
I didn’t have to wait more than 20 minutes for the nurse to call me back. After she took my vitals, Dr. Weido came in almost immediately. He took a look at my medical questionnaire, examined the area in question, and told me he was not sure what it was. He asked me if he could pull another doctor in to take a look as well, and I agreed. This doctor also did not know what to make of it.
I did not figure out what is causing the bite/​swelling at my office visit, but I did appreciate and respect Dr. Weido’s genuine concern. He suggested a plan of action to try and figure it out what is causing it. Even if Dr. Weido doesn’t discover the answer personally, he gets a gold star for being a problem solver and having the guts to tell me the truth. Bravo!
