No longer a gallery for other artists. GONZO is using this space as his studio now. But he’s a cool cat, so 5 stars anyway. Go by and see him if you would like some commissioned work!

Very chill place. Indie-art vibe. Need an appointment so call before you go. Also worth mention if you like this place is a new gallery called in Houston.

The concept here is cool, and the owner is chill. I like his goal of urban street art, and I like that it’s a little bit political. Just a little bit, but enough to provoke the mind. Great place to host a party, especially with delicious Calliope’s only a few steps away.

cool, small, indie-vibe art gallery with rotating exhibits. the one currently up is a historical timeline of the gallery: events, correspondence, media coverage, eclectic keepsakes and such. i was able to meet one of the two owners/curators — a self-proclaimed hoarder and artist – who was very nice and chill. i really dig this non-pretentious, laid-back creative space set between a bail bonds joint, a week-old local winery, and calliope’s down home po boys. and a private parking lot, winner.

i stopped by recently, and realized that the place is now never open and«by appointment only.» i peered in and the space was empty. since i’ve never been here before, i didn’t really know what to expect. it’s kind of hard to find in that there is no big sign– just know it’s in a little shopping strip with a restaurant and a wine bar.

I recently attended the Artist Reception and Rock the Lot on the Saturday after Thanksgiving. I got to be VIP by giving a donation to the Houston Art Project(and you know how we Elites like to be VIP) The party was banging! The art is awesome and affordable. Definitely not what I thought it would be considering it is a store front next to Caliope’s Po boys. I have loved graffiti art since growing up on the South Side of Chicago in the early 90’s. GONZO247 is the real deal. You should not miss this gem.

I went back in Aerosol Warfare Gallery & Boutique with a great friend of mine and really got to meet and talk with the owner Gonzo. I am changing my whole outlook on the gallery based on having gotten to spend a little time talking to this wonderful man. The first time I went it was a little overcrowded and hot and I wasn’t feeling the scene. Not only do they offer art classes here but they really go all out to bring out the artist in everyone seeking their help. The gallery seems to be morphing into a new look and instead of closing up shop for the change over, it welcomes regulars in to get their much needed art supplies and discuss art work styles. The artist spent a long time with me discussing the technique used on various banners and how to insure that the paint absorbed well and went on with a smooth appearance even though it was evident that I didn’t plan on spending any money at that time. I will definelty think of them first and last for any art projects I work on in the future.

This place is a Graffiti Art Gallery. Yeah… doesn’t sound right but it’s an actual concept. After checking out many different types of art you start to get a better appreciation of each type. I never thought much of graffiti. But after comparing other forms of art I realized that this stuff is pretty cool. I think I enjoy it more than traditional forms of art. Aerosol provides a place for local artists to show off and sell their pieces in a venue where their craft is appreciated. This way they aren’t doing illegally somewhere in the streets. Art and beauty is in the eye of the beholder and I enjoy find this marvelous.

It seems alot of people enjoy looking at street art. No one has mentioned anything but the tshirts though… If you need markers, spray caps, or paint(other than krylon, Rusto, etc.). This is you spot. I was so pumped to find out I could just walk in a shop and het whatever spray caps I could need. Keep bombin. Ha, and did I mention Calliope’s is next door???

As Houston’s only urban/street art gallery, Aerosol Warfare Gallery & Boutique has got a great thing going on and are doing wonders for the graffiti artists here in Houston. It’s also more than just a gallery space but an urban wear boutique as well. Christian Azul and GONZO247, Houston’s famous and incredibly talented artists, are the down-to-Earth guys behind Aerosol Warfare and made this eclectic location home a few years ago. But they’ve been on the scene long before that. I love that each time you visit Aerosol, you never know how it’s going to look like inside because the walls are constantly re-painted with *sick* murals in the gallery and boutique space. Clothing is mostly designed tees and some denim, with a few belts and designed bandannas in the curio. I’ve added a few funky shirts to my collection, one most recently is neon green with a giant jelly-fish like creature atop a head … with a fist in its mouth. Strange, but ultra unique. You’ll also find more art hanging from the designed walls, but in the back is the official gallery space. It’s just a small room, but once again, always changing. For those who complain about the gallery space, you have to look at the big picture. Aerosol Warfare Gallery & Boutique is one giant piece of art itself. You never know where you’re going to find the clothes laid out, the funky furniture complete with a vintage painted refrigerator and boom box, shelves of books about graffiti and art, newly designed murals, and even the splatter-painted restroom; they all uniformly come together and make Aerosol what it is … funky, urban street art. This is also the place to pick up a copy of the hard-to-find FRANK magazine. Aerosol is also active in the community, doing live work for non-profit events and hosting events of their own. They’ve joined with CKC StArt Street & Urban Art and offer graffiti classes, led by GONZO247, to everyday folks like you and I who just want to learn more about technique, history and just have fun. Anyone up for a lesson? I heard they’re really entertaining. If you really want to learn more about Aerosol, subscribe to their newsletter to get word about new exhibits, art openings, artist meet and greets, classes, new clothing lines and sales. Their gallery openings are a blast because you get to meet the artists, maybe check out live art, listen to a DJ, sip bevs and chat up with the owners; but swing by on a regular day to really admire the exhibit space and sift through their gear without mobs of people getting in your way. It will definitely be time well spent. As I mentioned, the owners are two of the kindest guys I’ve ever met. Anyone who comes to their boutique, from the high money-makin’ art collector in a suit, to recently-exposed-to-art tweens – and even the neighborhood homeless dude – the Aerosol team treats welcomes all with open arms. You gotta respect that. Keep doin’ your thang, Aerosol.

I can’t believe I didn’t know Houston had a graffiti art gallery before now! I went to Aerosol Warfare on Friday and had a great time. I really expected more art and was a little disappointed that there was really only the one room filled with it though there was a bunch of car hoods out front that were freshly sprayed. They also had a wall with small canvasses that you could paint and take home for $ 5. My friends and I tested out our spray painting skills and added to the art that was already there. It looked pretty sweet when we were done, I must say. I discovered that Bud Light makes a wheat beer, which was new to me, but exciting because it was free. Any event with free beer is always a good event as far as I’m concerned, but this one had super cool urban artwork to boot. My one complaint is that the bathroom is probably the filthiest thing I’ve ever seen in my life. We’re talking about worse than a truck stop outdoor multi-gender bathroom. It was bad. There was a pretty cool picture of a snake in the bathroom, but I suggest if you go to an opening and drink too much of the free beer that you go to the sandwich place next door to take care of business.

There is not much I can say about this place, other than THISPLACEISAWESOME! The artwork displayed here is top notch & extremely creative. Gonzo247& Christian Azul are always on the grind and pushing to display the best artists & artwork Houston has to offer. I was lucky enough to have some of my photography work displayed here last year during Art Crawl. It was a great opportunity.

Im going to keep this short. I took my P-Nut in there to view the vinyl toys they were displaying, the toys themselves were awesome! We got there around 7:30, and they were still setting up the dj and whatever else they were going to have. Walked into the joint and its really small, and HOT! I like the set up they had in there. They had some cool shirts for sale. My only complaint, man, it was SOFRIGGINHOTINTHERE =( We were there a total of 10 minutes. The heat in that place was too much to bare, please get some AC in that place!

I stopped in last month while I was waiting on my order from Calliope’s next door. There was a party of bike messengers in the lot and it was all pretty chill. I had been curious about Aerosol Warfare’s gallery, but I always seemed to miss the openings. Plus,(begins whining) it’s on the other side of Montrose/Fourth Ward/Midtown and that’s faaar(NOT! – jk). Can you tell I’m sheltered? Anyhow, I talked to Christian and he couldn’t be nicer, more knowledgeable, and enthusiastic on the subject of graffiti art. My personal favorite is a local artist called Ghost Town. I love finding his Pac-Man ghost tile mosaics in random places around Houston. I hope he gets a show or produces more stuff for the gallery. For the time being, I «invested» in two magnets of Pac-Man and a ghost and they now proudly occupy space on my own personal Galerie Le Frigidaire.
