Came on a Monday night for dinner. Staff was extremely friendly upon walking in. It’s an open wide space with tables and a chairs covered in a pretty blue satin covering and a stage. Very welcoming feeling. They have music playing and incense. The incense is a bit heavy though. We were seated and was asked if we had any questions about the menu and what we would like to drink. The owner came by and also greeted us and asked if this was our first time. And It was our first time at this Ethiopian restaurant. But not first time eating this kind of food. He offered to sit with us and explain the things we ordered and to teach how to eat traditionally. He also asked if we wanted forks just in case. Which is very nice and appreciated. He and our waiter came to check on us and gladly have us more injera upon request. And we requested a lot. We ordered the Vegetarian platter and one of the house meat specialties. All of which were great. It was very flavorful; each one distinct. We ate family style as we always do even though it’s only 2 of us. My boyfriend ordered more sides of the cabbage and the greens. Those came out in huge portions. And of course we are leaving with a togo box. All in all, food and service is amazing. The only thing is that charge for more injera. Lucy’s doesn’t charge for more. Only reason why I give 4 stars instead of 5.

Ummm… yummmm! This was one of our Unilocal finds and we’ll be coming back! We ordered the Lamb w/Rosemary and the Vegetarian Combo. Perfect for 2 or 3(we love to eat). The flavors are amazing, and my husband and I agree that the taste overall was better than Blue Nile. The ambience for lunch was quiet and calm but it seems like a place for live music in the evenings since they have a stage.

My friend and I visited this place on a Sunday and ate from their buffet menu. I heard about this place while at the annual refugee day. The owner recognize that we where new and unfamiliar and walked us through the buffet. He gave us detailed description of each of the items offered. After our meal he came and checked on us and gave us a full tour of the restaurant and the meaning of different cultural items around the restaurant. Although the food wasnt piping hot, the flavor and personal touch made it enjoyable.

Food is delicious! Definitely a welcoming environment. The owner and waitress were very attentive. Goza(sp?), the owner, even gave us an informational tour of the restaurant. I felt like I was welcomed into someone’s home for a Sunday brunch.

Great food and amazing service. The owner came to our table and asked if we needed anything. I think this is the best Ethiopian restaurant in Houston. As an Ethiopian myself, I know good authentic food and this is where it’s at. Enjoy

Incredible food and service. Very authentic décor and flavors. Owner personally greets you and asks for how they can improve their service. Owner and staff clearly love what they do, and strive to offer the best. Best Ethiopian food I have ever had, hands down. Would recommend to everyone I know.

The vegetarian combination was good and comes with a generous amount of injera. Perfect amount of food for two vegetarians. Some dishes were better than others — the red and yellow lentils were really tasty and well-seasoned, but the green had a chalky aftertaste. Service was good, but there was almost no one there at late lunchtime. The incense is really strong, which I don’t like because it gives me a headache and it also interferes with the taste of the food.

Food was delicious! We will definitely be back. I loved the way the lentils were cooked– they were so delicious! Also they searved a type of beef that was not completely cooked– the best! They really know how to use spices and create some great flavors. One of our new favorite restaurants!

I learned about this restaurant after the owner provided food for the volunteers at World Refugee Day 2015. The food is amazing and a unique cultural experience to learn how to eat an authentic Ethiopian style meal. I recommend you bring your friends and share one of the meat plates as a group, it’s all delicious!

This was our first time experiencing authentic Ethiopian food. It was awesome. We had a great experience. Learned how to eat properly with our hands in the traditional way. And the food was excellent! We had the sambusa for an appetizer, the vegetable combination plate and meat combination plate. Great place for a date. Ended with the coffee ceremony. Should definitely give this place a try– you won’t regret it!:)

We moved to Southeastern Houston from NYC — my wife is from Ethiopia and we are both in the restaurant business — and we were close to giving up on finding a good Ethiopian place. We found a great one in Addis Ababa. The drive from the Pearland area was totally worth it. The food was fantastic and the service was exceptional. The cook and the owner dropped the table to say hello and our waitress made sure we had a wonderful time. After a fantastic meal we were presented with a more than reasonable bill. First timers and Ethiopian foodies alike need to pay a visit to Addis Ababa!

When Addis Ababa Restaurant reopened sometime in 2013, it wasn’t a particularly good start. But it has changed dramatically over the last several months. The changes they have made transformed the place to one of my favorite Ethiopian Restaurant in Houston. Things I like most: 1) Quality. I have tried a number of their dishes in different occasions. All of them are excellent. I specially like the combinations, both the vegetarian and the non-vegi. 2) Price. What annoys me about many Ethiopian eateries is their unreasonably high prices. Curiously, as the price increases the quality declines. A case in point is Blue Nile. Addis Ababa’s prices are very much reasonable; and you get more and better quality food than you’d at the more expensive places. 3) Courteous owners. The husband and wife owners are very polite and attentive. They work hard to make improvements both in the service and quality of their kitchen. Overall, it is a great place if your like Ethiopian cooking and will be even better with a little more attention to the wash rooms.

Addis Ababa is back and better than ever. I went for breakfast and ordered the vegetarian combination plate and ful. More than enough food for two adults and a child. If you’ve never tried Ethiopian food then go to Addis Ababa and get the vegetarian combo. They have a full bar but I didn’t imbibe, because like I said, it was breakfast.
