I ordered Peking Duck, 2 orders of soup(large pot), two orders of squid(entrée portion) TOGO and they did not honor complimentary dessert as they would if you dined in. The owner’s discretion. Customer service… FAIL. Food take out– they boxed all the food in styrofoam– heat scorching fried squid dumped in the foam without foil to lined the box. We get squid imprints on the foam. I can’t give a higher rating because I cannot get past the issues above. Peking duck is something you should try, I suggest dine in.

A Ly is my family’s go-to in Chinatown for to-go ordering for dinner and holidays. We used to dine-in but now do take out for convenience. A Ly is your typical Chinese-Vietnamese restaurant serving a wide variety of Asian cuisine, as well as a few uncommon specialty dishes(duck tongue or gator anyone?). A-Ly gets 4 stars because my family loves theIr Peking duck, which has stood the test of time in quality and consistency! Peking duck is not a dish to be rushed and must be prepared to perfection to deliver the best taste! We love love love their Peking duck, which tastes absolutely delicious whether you take-out or dine-in. Each slice of Peking duck is very meaty, juicy, and flavorful, with a nice, crispy outer skin, compared to Peking Cuisine’s less meaty slices. The Peking duck here is served with the sweet baos, thinly sliced leeks, and hoisin sauce. All you have to do is take a bao, put in a slice of Peking duck with some leeks, a drizzle of hoisin sauce, and you have your very own Peking duck bao ready to be devoured in seconds because it’s just that good!!! From time to time, we order other entrees like the crispy salted squid, beef with Chinese broccoli, and the house special fried rice. The entrees are usually large portions and we almost always have leftovers for the next day. I see people ordering in bulk for parties all the time whenever I’m there. A Ly is pretty solid on packaging their food for take out– bonus points! Parking can be a nightmare here during peak times. The restaurant interior is not of the 5-star variety but average for a family-style dining restaurant. In Chinatown, you come for the quality of the food, not the squeaky clean interior! Service is average as is expected. The staff speak Chinese/Vietnamese and only a little bit of English, but you should not have problems communicating with them. Come on, what are you waiting for, put their number on speed dial so you can order the Peking duck for $ 25.95 and feast like a king/queen in the comfort of your home! Peking duck = winning!!!

As I passed back through Houston, my friend who lives nearby took me to another great Asian restaurant. We brought some takeout soup back to her Mom and then we gobbled down tofu wrapped shrimp… omg was this delicious. Again I wish I saw this at home in NOLA. I got a tofu and veggie dish which was good. The restaurant is not fancy but the staff was lovely. And my friend was clearly a regular because they asked after her mother. Definitely a yummy choice.

This place is RIDICULOUS. The food is great. But the service is horrible. It’s malarkey. It took them nearly an hour to get our food out. Other customers were seated after us and ALL of them got their food first. What did we got? Only our drinks. Never coming back to this place again.

We were planning to eat at another restaurant in the area but it was closed for the Thanksgiving holidays so we stumbled upon A Ly Oriental Restaurant. Like your typical restaurant in Chinatown, A Ly was casual, not terribly clean, and food is served family style. And we had quite the feast. Started off with some Vietnamese egg rolls which were crispy and served with a nice dipping sauce. Next up, a duck soup with tender pieces of duck and noodles in a clear broth. We also had flat noodles with beef and flat noodles with BBQ pork. Huge portions, too many veggies for me but tasty sauce and noodles. The star of the meal, however, was the peking duck. Unlike most Chinese restaurants which serve you duck with hoisin sauce, green onion, and pancakes, A Ly switched things up by offering you sweet buns instead of pancakes. If you’ve ever had pork belly buns with a cucumber slice and hoisin sauce you know what I’m talking about. This was a nice surprise and worked well with the duck. Service was surprisingly quite friendly and effective, which you can’t say you see every day in Chinatown. A meal for three came out to $ 100 including tip. And I have enough leftover food to last me a week at work.

Yet another great Peking duck restaurant in Chinatown! Serving Chinese cuisine with Vietnamese inspiration, A Ly Oriental Restaurant is a decent place for a family style food especially with its signature Peking duck at a reasonable price. My personal favorite place of Houston’s Peking duck is Peking Cuisine, but A Ly’s is similar in its moist roast duck meat. Both restaurants’ Peking ducks — which are priced about the same at about $ 25 each — are served with some differences that may appeal to your preferences: 1) Peking Cuisine gives a roti-like crêpe as wrap material, while A Ly gives the steamed half-slice flatbread«gua bao» 2) Peking Cuisine’s is thinly sliced by tradition, and A Ly’s serves thick cuts 3) Peking Cuisine uses some meat to make a duck stew, but A Ly delivers the whole duck in one dish However, the most important difference between Peking Cuisine and A Ly is the choice of the«complementing dishes». In Peking, your choice is Szechuan cuisine, and in A Ly, your choice is Vietnamese-style Chinese cuisine which is similar to the likes of Vinh Hoa and Sinh Sinh. Is Peking Cuisine or A Ly better? Depends on your preference on how you like your meat presented and what kind of cuisine do you like. Both places deliver solid Peking duck, so if you aren’t sure about your preference, give both places a shot! — tl;dr version: 1) Reasonably-priced Vietnamese-style Chinese cuisine 2) Solid Peking duck comparable to Peking Cuisine’s

I dont know what is good about this place except for Bo Luc Lac, When we just moved here, and my husband crave for Peking Duck. Since everybody said A Ly had the best Peking Duck, we decided to give it a chance, bad choice. It is too overrated, the duck was so fatty that I felt disgusting with how much fat is all over my mouth after just one bite. My husband loves fatty duck, but he still couldn’t love this dish, way too much fat under the duck skin. The salt and pepper pork ribs is too dried, the best dish that I have ever tried here is Bo Luc Lac, I maybe come back for this dish, but not for Peking Duck, I have tried much better place.

Food and price: Noodle soup that comes with a ¼ roasted duck. Tasty and affordable. Service is okay. Nothing too special. Bathroom is a little bit dirty to my standard. Overall, good food and great price. Will come back for these 2 things.

I LOVE the Ga luc lac and Bo luc lac at this place! The best in Houston. You must try these dishes. The rice is soft and flavorful and the meat is perfectly seasoned.

We have eaten dim sum here before and they were OK. This past weekend, we decided to try their Peking duck. It’s was the best I have had! plenty of moist and succulent meat with super crispy skin. We ordered a bowl of soup made with the duck carcass, cabbage, vermicelli with side rice for extra $ 5 and it was more than worth it. Total bill was $ 33. 3 of us was stuffed with lots of duck left to take home. Will eat here again next time we are back in Houston.

I really like this place for Vietnamese food. It’s family style but some of the portions aren’t too big. I’ve been here a lot and I never see it really busy, so we never have to wait for a table. One thing to note is that the customer service here is really good, probably best out of all the other Asian restaurants. They always recognize my bf and I when we come in and always talk to us. They even remember that one time my bf came in when he was sick and asked how he was when we came back the next week! What we usually get is some type of fried rice and a vegetable dish. My favorite is the roasted chicken fried rice, it was nothing what I expected. I think they give you a whole tiny chicken cut in half and it looks like it’s kind of fried but it’s not. The rice itself is really tasty as well. We’ve gotten the Peking duck and it’s also really good here too. Pros: — Good value — Great customer service, friendly Cons: — Nothing

I love A Ly Oriental Restaurant. In Chinatown, you are foolish to expect good customer service, but these people really know how to treat their customers. The food quality is amazing, and it’s not very pricey. It’s a family-style Chinese/Vietnamese restaurant, but portion sizes are perfect. Order one thing per person. We consistently come here, and it’s flawless every time.

This place is just okay to me. The price is comparable to other locations and the portions are plenty. We ordered the ga chien bo, Suong rang muoi, tofu lúc lac, and beef filet in black pepper sauce in sizzling plate. All these dishes I’ve had better elsewhere. The ga chien Bo is different. Kind of sweet and tangy. The Suong rang muoi was garlicky. The tofu luc lac was on the bland side. The sizzling beef filet was decent but meat was too thick and chunky to bite into. The service was good but our orders came out too slow. Perhaps because there was a dinner party going on too. This place is better for big groups since the majority of the tables seat over 6 people. Overall, I would recommend trying this place at least once as I did.

We went here to introduce our friend to a Peking duck, which if you have never had is a delicacy in the Asian culture. A Ly does a very standard job of their Peking duck, it’s delicious and I hey give you plenty of meat which is always great. We got the dinner for 6 and split it amongst 10 people and since the portions were pretty big, there was plenty of food. They were also really accommodating in switching out a couple of the dishes for a few other ones. We got an extra calamari dish, but we should have also switched the chicken for the shrimp dish. The pricing was great, for 10 people the bill came out to be a little over $ 100, so for $ 10 a person, that is pretty cheap for the amount of food you get. The atmosphere is like any other Asian restaurant, cramped and noises, but that’s what makes it good right? Tip: make sure you ask for more water otherwise you’ll be sitting there for a while before they notice on their own. Overall, a great place to bring your friends and family if you want to just have good food and a great time.

Awesome Peking Duck Pecking Duck was awesome. And that’s what we came here for. Skin crispy, meat thunder, bun is delicious. And the price can’t be beat either. The waitress told us they sold 300 ducks that day — it was Thanksgiving. The snow pea leaves was a bit bland but still good. The combination fried rice tasted like the one you get at a generic American Chinese restaurant. But we will definitely come back to try other dishes.

I’ve been looking for a good peking duck place! Finally!!! I found it! BESTDUCKEVER! Lots of meat & crispy skin on top!!! They also give you fluffy soft banh bao(steamed buns), side vegetables, and hoison sauce. Price is not bad. I also love their Beijing style pork ribs. Sweet and crispy! Oh and for an appetizer I like to order the Beef & Shrimp Jellyfish salad. So fresh and delicious. I always leave here full and happy. I feel like I’m gaining like 10 pounds. They also got a group menu like for 4, 6, 10 people. For a little hole in the wall place I am in love with this place. Make sure you come hungry!

This place is ok if you like duck. I cannot say too much about it since I’m not much of a fan of duck but also was not bad. Parking is a nightmare here, be prepared to stalk patrons walking to their car and you better not feel guilty about it or somebody else with the same mind intention will get your spot. Service…well how do I rate it when I stood at a table for about 7 minutes without being greeted(there were about 3 tables and 3 people standing around) and this was at 11 a.m., no lunch rush yet. When suddenly my party gets here I am a person. The interior is pretty clean, was not loud(got the table surrounded by a wall and two glasses). Price for an order of duck and one other dish which I forgot I had was $ 37, a little steep for me but maybe that’s the going price of duck. I will need to try this place again to give an update, I might have been a little harsh on this one. The best way to find this place which you can easily miss is to look for the«soldiers statue», yea that one.

I’ve had the Peking duck here before, and it was so good! So we decided to come back, and also try their other stuff: — Peking duck — so delicious and crispy, they also give you steamed buns, plum sauce and green onions, yum — Razor clams — looks like intestines, tastes like a shellfish. Not that great in my opinion — Salted baked fresh squid — this was good, salted, and cooked well — Bo luc lac — so good, and is really well seasoned — Baked Crab with ginger and green onion — This have good flavors, but so much work to get the meat, exceptionally harder because of all the sauce on the crabs — Stir-fried on choy with xo sauce — really delicious and tasty on choy Overall, pretty good place to grab lunch or dinner. Most definitely suggest the Peking duck, this is the best!

Was in town for a day & wanted to choose a place near Hong Kong Mall. Empty for a Sunday. Huge menu with plenty of Vietnamese & Chinese dishes. Had their Peking Duck(~$ 20 for a huge plate of meat & steamed buns). Good portion for the price! The duck had plenty of fat(that may or may not be good for some people). I would say Mr. Wok in Dallas and R&G in San Francisco are still my top choices for Peking Duck. Service was friendly!
