Vons Chicken

The wings are sooo good. It is about $ 12 for 10 wings so it is quite pricey. I would recommend calling ahead if you want to eat here as they take about 20 minutes to cook the wings. Last time I went I ordered 4 of the 5 different types of wings and I don’t think you can go wrong with any of them, all of them tasted good.

The girl at the register said they are not associated with Vons Chicken on Pensacola.
Chix made to order hot and fresh … yum! If you know me, then you know I love me some fried chicken and this fried chix is the B-​O-​M-​B!!!
I got a ½ order of fried chix wings. It smelled so good on the drive home and I was so tempted to sneak me a taste but I didn’t want to mess up my car. Each wing is lightly floured and the crust is crunch-​tastic!!! Now I know what the girl at the counter meant by ‘our VONS brand is better than theirs’ … I never tasted ‘theirs’ and I don’t think there is a reason to after having these. Each one is crunchy on the outside and moist on the inside. They are lightly seasoned and I am sure some people will add more salt but they were okay to me … next time, i think i will dip them in some ranch for a different experience :)

We like there fried chicken, very moist and not oily. Only downside is each order is made when you order so better to place order ahead of time.

Call ahead with your order; last order is about an hour before the shop closes down (the night I went, by 8, for a 9 pm close). That way, the waiting issue (mentioned by another reviewer) won’t occur.
Broasted chicken is not that fatty/​oily, yet delish. Crispy chicken is perfectly seasoned, crunchy, wings and small drumsticks. Special chicken is a combo of spicy, BBQ, and crispy; it’s almost like buffalo wings, but not as biting and not as greasy.
Not really KFC (Korean fried chicken), as the cinnamon and other Asian uses of spice are cut way back, for a more mainstream and generic (Western) taste. If you want KFC, go to ItchyButt on Ke’eaumoku. We go here to buy boxloads of chix to take to family events, as they’re yummy, non-​controversial, and inoffensive.

My order took nearly an hour to come out because they forgot! «#46…#47…#48…#50…» Wait, what? What happened to order #49??? All I got was a very meek apology from the young female cashier and a lame excuse. A simple «I’m sorry, we just forgot about your order» would’ve been better than «we got really busy and there were so many orders ahead of you…» So what? Don’t you still go in numerical order??? Obviously, it’s not her fault. Not a single word from the older lady who looked like the owner or from the man baking the chicken. It’s a tiny place so you can see everything that’s going on. I even heard the older lady scolding the cook about my order and all he did was stare blankly into space. My dad later told me that when he approached the counter, he saw the older lady standing there and their eyes met. As soon as they did, she quickly looked away without a word. Sometimes, the customer service is more important than the food itself and once is all it takes. Never again.

I loved Vons!
We ordered the original fried chicken. So delicious– crispy outside with moist chicken on the inside.
Ordered the chicken and took about 15 mins to walk around the market. Picked up some kim bap and pickled radish to make it a complete meal.
Great idea for a night in or to bring to potluck.

Inside a Korean market and turn to your right. There are three carry out places here selling Korean favs. Von’s only sells chicken. Definitely some of the best Korean fried chicken I have had anywhere.

Good basic wings. Made to order. They would be well served to have lunch plates in their menu. Chicken is much better than the Wingstop place on Dillingham. Got to try the Vons Special Chicken on my next visit.

Really too good to pass up! I never get tired of it, the quality is amazing, and it comes relatively fast once ordered. If you’re nearby and have never tried it, turn around, and get some under any circumstances.

The chicken is good but there isn’t an huge amount of options to choose from. It’s also nothing groundbreaking from what I can tell. That, along with how long it takes to get my order (20+ minutes both times I’ve been here) counts a bit against them. Still, the extra wait is probably the reason why the chicken is as good as it is to begin with.

I highly recommend you try it. It takes 20 mins so call ahead or prepare to wait. I tried the crispy fried BBQ and enjoyed it.

Crispy fried chicken was super good! Crispy hot and juicy with perfect amount of salt. They are very busy and being that they are a tiny booth in Palama the chicken takes a little time so I would recommend calling in your order. TAKEOUT # 447‑7700

Having read reviews for Vons Chicken located in the Kalihi Palama I was excited to see one open at their Makaloa St location. For those familiar with the Makaloa St Palama, Vons is between to the Palama Snack Corner and bathroom. For those unfamiliar, enter through the front doors, make a right and head straight. There’s a window to place, and pickup, your order.
While I wanted to try all of their flavors, it took a great deal of restraint, and went with a half order crispy fried chicken.
Verdict? Absolutely delicious. Flavorful crispy exterior with a juicy interior. They’re not like other commercial wings. You’re not left asking, «Where’s the meat?» Gnawing into the wing, you’re rewarded with a mouthful of the most delicious chicken wings Oahu has to offer.
As an added bonus, the employees are super friendly.
The chicken wings were so good I couldn’t resist ordering half crispy fried chicken and half Vons Special Sauce to go. I’m getting hungry just thinking about them.
