If I had to choose the place with the best Loco Moco ever, it would have to be Byron’s Drive-In! Fortunately, you can’t prove me wrong because Byron’s is no longer in business. Unfortunately, they’re closed permanently now and I can’t have another one, ever, in my entire life! :( I have to admit, that it had been years since I stopped by Byron’s Drive-In. So this is my homage to one place that deserves a spot in the Drive-In Hall of Fame. It doesn’t exist yet, I checked, but if anyone ever made one, this place would be in it! When I arrived on their final closing night the line was out to Nimitz highway! If you’re not familiar with Byron’s, that is one heck of a line. It kind of felt like waiting for a ride for at the carnival, but instead for many, it was a last chance at their favorite food. With news cameras in tow and old Studebakers in the parking lot, it felt like a blast from the past. After ordering my Local Moco, a Clubhouse Sandwich, a handful of Shrimp burgers, and an Orange Bang, I patiently waited. My patience paid off as I was in Loco Moco heaven with bite after tasteful bite. Words simply cannot describe how happy my stomach was after my meal. So much thanks goes out to Alycia P. for organizing this event and helping to shorten my wait. She was ahead of me in line and took my order and placed it with Quijana B. who was at the order window. Much thanks to Quijana too!
