Of all the sports you can watch on TV or in the stands, I enjoy football(soccer) the most. Thus this event was a no-brainer. Of course I’m going to an early Hawaii morning breakfast buffet at an Irish Bar full of German immigrants/tourists getting their football fix. Duh! Michael W. was gracious enough to setup this event and I don’t think I’ll ever get another chance to sit amongst angry and jubilant Germans in an Irish bar in Hawaii at 8am in the morning as they yell, «Nein!» every time their team messed up or got scored upon. It was a truly hilarious and exciting moment in my life. It’s times like these that I feel connected to the rest of humanity and thankful for the diversity Hawaii(and America) has as a whole. One embarrassing thing I realized later was that for a majority of the match I thought one team was German and the other was Russian when in reality they were both German teams. X-(I’m truly sorry Dortmund and Munich. I may enjoy watching football, but I rarely ever do, LOL.

«I came for the food!» That’s my excuse when I told my friend how I started my day and he told me, «you don’t watch soccer.» I sure don’t, but I live to eat and eat to live! ‘Yelpers unite’ seems to be the motto at every UYE. It’s always nice to see a lot of familiar faces. Even though I’m not a soccer fan, the game was still very entertaining. Both teams were really competitive and were well matched against each other. It looked like they were playing as if their lives depended on it with the way they were fighting for every point. The food was delicious and there was a wide assortment of goodies including assorted fresh fruit, home fries, scrambled eggs, sausage, fried rice, garlic chicken, sweet bread burgers, and English muffins. An added bonus: It was a buffet! «All you can eat» brings any UYE to the top of my ‘to do’ list. As I try to figure out how food got ahead of work and sleep in my list of priorities, I must say that a breakfast buffet definitely goes well with sports in an Irish pub. This event happens every year and I can’t wait for the next one!
