Went check out this place at Ward. I’m so disappointed! Ordered the mabo tofu with udon instead of ramen, it costed more than what said on the board outside(board said 7.75, cashier charged 10.50). I guessed it was because I ordered the udon instead of ramen. Waited for quite a long time(my buddy ordered at the Vietnamese place next door, got his food, finished it, and mine from sumo ramen hadn’t came out). Food came out and it was udon noodle in a kinda gravy soupy liquid, with tofu and NO pork in it. The soup tasted kinda like a cheap instant noodle soup pack. The guy worked there said there’s no pork in it because they don’t put pork meat in anymore, and said they already put some pork that is blended in the soup??? Either he thinks I’m dumb or I don’t know what mabo tofu is like. 10 bucks for this crap??? I felt ripped off. NEVERAGAIN!!! *door slam*

This place is so slow– you should call first… But you’ll be lucky if they even answer.

Ate here in between shopping and while I was waiting for my food read some reviews which made me uneasy but the owner brought my food out to me in under 10 minutes and it was hot and decent for mall food. After the quick service and decent food I was wondering if these were new owners after reading the reviews. I would eat here again.

Ordered regular croquette curry plate and they only gave me 3 peoces when in picture there is 4 peoces. Also no one there to ring me up for my phone order stood around for 10 min. On top of that there was a bird in the kitchen and I told the employee about it and he joked that it was the new employee don’t know how these fluid pass their health inspection. Never going back

First time having late lunch at this location with my relative since it was the only place to go when we were shopping and it was raining hard. Wait: The wait for our food was terrible for our two combo ramen sets(sad to see only one person who was doing both cashiering and cooking) and it was only us that ordered. We had waited 20 minutes to only get some of food(e.g fried rice bowl, chicken Katsu curry, etc) served to us. So, an additional of 15 minutes extra was needed to fully get our complete meal served to us. So the total time to get our food ready and served to us was 35 mins(by far the longest we waited for food and we were hungry). Quality of food: Food was hot which was good but the noodles tasted soft overcooked. The gyoza looked smaller than other ramen restaurants I’ve been to. The diet soda we ordered tasted old like it was going to expire in a few days. Will not be come back here for lunch again.

Was looking for something a little different in the area so we decided on this. Got the Chicken Katsu Combo and the Spam Katsu Curry. Both meats were well over cooked. So crispy I had to put them in my ramen to soften them. While the curry had good flavor the rice was terrible. Pretty much standard long grain white rice with no flavor. Would have been better with jasmine or Japanese rice. The ramen had flavorful broth. There are better places.

I’ve been to other Sumo Ramen shops before and this one is by far the slowest. It appears that there is only on person working the entire shop and we have been waiting for over 25 minutes for our meal. This wouldn’t be too bad but when your operation consists of a take out window I would hope to get our food quicker than that. Do yourself a favor and go to the other locations. They are much quicker.

Diem Café was closed early on Sunday so we defaulted to Sumo Ramen in the same food court. 3 stars because my friends who succeeded in eating there said they liked it after they finally got their food. I never got to eat with them because it took over 45 minutes for our orders to come out… and I had to leave before then. I see numerous previous reviewers have had the same experience. So don’t count on it being fast food. My friends brought mine«to go» and I ate it the next day… so I guess that’s not a fair review. It was mapo tofu ramen packed nicely in separate containers for noodles vs broth. When I did eat it the next day, I found it unmemorable compared to other mapo tofu ramens I’ve had elsewhere.

If you want slow service and watery overcooked ramen… look no further… Sumo Ramen at Ward Warehouse is the place to be!!! Came around 7pm… with the wife and mother-in-law. We ordered 2 Miso Ramens and one fried noodles with chicken. It was a one man show so the same guy ringing us up was doing all the cooking, hence it took 20+ minutes to get our food. As mentioned earlier, the noodles in the Miso Ramen were soft… overcooked. The miso broth was tasteless and the slices of pork were SUPER salty. I rather have Cup-o-Noodles then this supposed batch of «Miso Ramen». I will admit the fried noodles had a decent flavor, but when you have«ramen» in your restaurant name, the ramen should be the prized entrée and taste the best. Overall the one man show and tasteless food will keep us from coming back.

So I was able to use my AmazonLocal voucher on this last day it expired. The service was courteous when they took my order and I presented the voucher. It took a little while but I got to sit down on the chairs and table. I ordered the Katsu Curry and the Mochiko Chicken plates, and an iced coffee. I was able to get it take-out. When I got home to eat, I opened up the containers and the portion was skimpy! The whole bottom of the plate lunch tray was filled with rice, and looked like two pcs of chicken katsu… that’s it. The curry came in a separate container which was good. The mochiko chicken portion… holy moly… maybe a dozen little chunks spread out over a full plate of rice! I shoulda took a picture. Was that the Amazon Local special? I haven’t eaten there before and it sounded good so I thought I would give it a try… oh well, it was pretty disappointing, especially at about $ 9/plate. The ice coffee… basically iced creamer, way too sweet and no coffee flavor. :(

I have not had my dinner yet, but I ordered at 6:11PM. It’s now 7:36PM and I’m still waiting for my food – two combos and a mini mochiko chicken. I’m so hungry, I’ve contemplated buying food from any of the nearby eateries to hold me over. To be fair, he did warn me that it would be a one hour wait. We’re well over that now and I haven’t seen him begin to pack my order. The last order he assembled took him 10 minutes from start to finish. There are too many places to eat that are faster, closer, at the same price point and 800 times more efficient at serving the same food. I can confidently say I won’t be back here.

Jogged from downtown to Waikiki and saw this place out of the corner of my eye on the way back. Ordered the combo, curry chicken, saimin, and gyozas. The price was OK, not great. But the food was just mediocre. The set up here is kind of like concessions style, with some patio furniture in the middle of a few mobile concession restaurants. I haven’t been to any of the other Sumo’s, but this one is just mediocre. I would probably come here again, but only if I am desperate for curry.

I’ve read the reviews so was a little leery but needed to use my Amazon local voucher. The lady at the register was pleasant. It’s a small place so only having one cook was justified. Located next to Waiola and Dairy Queen there were lots of tables. I ordered take outs of gyoza and egg roll. I had to wait 15 min but it went by quickly while I ate a shave ice. I too k it home for hubby and both were very tasty as I didn’t use the sauces. Gyozas could’ve been a little more stuffed but the egg rolls were filled. I think I prefer the egg rolls over the gyoza. Price is s tad steep for just 6 gyoza or 2 egg rolls for $ 4.50 but they need to pay their high rent. I would come back and order a plate or more egg rolls.

Our second experience with Sumo Ramen was just as tasty as the first. Only one guy working here last night taking orders and making the food so it takes a little but to get the food… But worth the wait! I had the wonton ramen and hubby had mochikko chicken ramen. Both were AMAZING! Their broth is so good. Def recommend this one and all other sumo ramen locations.

Oh my. During a particularly trying day at work several co-workers and I ventured out of the office determined not to kill one another and not to eat just cake for lunch. We wandered to Ward Centers and my coworker and I realizing there was a ramen place decided that nothing would bring more comfort to a horrific day than a nice bowl of ramen… or so we thought… We wandered down to Sumo Ramen & Curry and found what appeared to be a one man show working the window. We placed our orders, me for the wonton ramen and my coworker for the ma po tofu ramen. First it took foreeeevah for our food to come, and then when food appeared from the window, I was given another customer’s order(which thankfully I realized before walking away)… When our food was finally ready, and we got back to the office… we discovered the following: Wonton Ramen: Bland. No flavor. Ramen was all stuck together and just mushy. The wontons were completely lacking in flavor as well. Just blah. Ma Po Tofu Ramen: My coworker compared this ramen to a salt lick. Her noodles were also stuck together and mushy. Sadly we will not be going back here.

Maybe the in restaurant experience is better, but our take-out was awful. The dried ramen noodles had been in the bowl so long beforehand that even soaking them in the broth water for 20 minutes failed to separate them. The pork was also kind of tough and bland. The one redeeming item was the takoyaki, which was good. Other than that, a disappointment.

All«Sumo Ramen & Curry» are not equal. This one’s not even close. I’ve eaten at the Market City, Kalihi, and Mapunapuna locations and those are usually pretty good. This one is located in a little food court at Ward Warehouse near Dairy Queen. It is a take-out only window with seats available in the courtyard. DONOTGETCURRYFRIEDRICE. It was hard and tasted pretty bad. I had to dump the whole dish. When I ordered it, the guy said there was char siu in the fried rice but I only saw mushrooms and green cabbage. Very weird dish. DONOTGETMOCHIKOCHICKENCURRY. This is not their signature dish for sure. The mochiko chicken was probably not marinated long enough because it had no taste, and the curry did not taste like the curry at the other locations. Had to dump this one too, it was that bad. You might have better luck ordering the ramen instead of the curry. Or just go somewhere else.

I think I’m getting lazy in writing a long review of places. But when there’s nothing I can say about it, I’ll just go straight to the point. My friend and I ordered the Mochiko Chicken Curry combo, included the saimin with a piece of charsiu and a piece of fishcake, and 4 piece of gyoza. It was Fast. Simple. Filling. Convenient. But… The curry and the chicken was too sweet. The curry was very watery. The gyoza was so small, it should be called wonton instead. It was sooo oily. Dripping and soaked onto the plate. The saimin was alright. Priced around $ 9. Soooo meeeeeeh!

It is not so much a restaurant as a take out kiosk but don’t let that deter you. Located near the DQ in Ward Centers and of course has plenty of parking. Their mini plates are a great deal and there is a huge selection of ramen and rice curry dishes(shrimp, chicken, and spam but no tonkatsu) to choose from. If you’re familiar with Curry House then you know to expect the Japanese style curry at this place. Simply 4 stars for the great food at great value with quick service.
