So they’ve given up on Kaimuki and no longer park here on Mondays. I wish them the best of luck wherever they are now. Sucks for me though. :(

I Love every sandwich I’ve had from these guys, but let’s not forget the garlic fries! They post up down Cooke street from my job and I’m glad they do. Always worth the wait

I went on a banh mi hunt and boy was I glad to have found them! I was getting tired of the same old Vietnamese sandwiches from Bale except there isn’t a very big banh mi market here(maybe I just don’t know about it?) I did some hunting around on Unilocal and found this food truck! I found them across the street of the HMSA building with a line of people ordering and waiting for their food… good sign! I decided on the Sweet and Spicy pulled pork bahn mi and I was hella glad I picked that one. The meat was flavorful and tender and stayed well within the toasted bread. Unlike Bale where I always end up with the roof of my mouth all cut up from the bread, their bread is perfect. The meat juices didn’t soak right through and my mouth didn’t have to suffer afterwards! The guys working in the truck are super friendly and the wait isn’t too long. My only gripe is that their hours are too short! By the time I get into town they’re already all down for the day.

Finally tried this and now I’m kicking myself for waiting so long. The Sweet & Spicy Pulled Pork Banh Mi was fantastic. The combo of traditional pulled pork and Banh Mi fixings worked really well. And the bread was fresh and toasty. Can’t lose. Hell of a value for $ 6.50 too. I’ll be back to try the other stuff on the menu.

I’ve had this review sitting in my box for quite sometime now. I’m not sure they’re still around seeing as they haven’t updated their twitter account since April, but in hopes that they’ll someday reopen… here we go! First thing you’ll notice when you walk up to the truck is how friendly the guys are. If it’s your first time there, they’ll give you a run down of the menu. I think he said they cure all their meats. Is ham cured? idk. anyways, their meats really do taste fresh and delicious. their bread, also tastes really fresh and delicious. Everything in general, fresh and delicious. I’m not sure what average going is for fries are now days. I will say you may want to be careful when opening up the fries. They really pack it in there. I really like their fries too. I’d say it’s like McD’s fries with pepper and it’s always served hot. And the fact that they give so much of it, makes you feel like you got your monies worth with it. Great sandwiches they make/made… idk. Where’d you guys go?

Had their streak sandwich for lunch, which was good, and their BBQ chicken sandwich with slaw and pickles for an afternoon snack, and that one was great! That’s my favorite sandwich now! ;)

Subpreme is a food truck worth a visit, the guys are all really friendly and the food is good. I enjoyed the Sweet & Spicy Pulled Pork Banh Mi. I’ve always preferred my pulled pork sandwiches with a vinegar based slaw, so Subpreme’s banh mi twist to use picked daikon and carrots was brilliant! The bbq sauce was well balanced and provided just enough heat without it being a throat burner. The bread was fresh and very soft, although I would have preferred French bread with a crunchy exterior and a little more body. It’s great that the sandwiches are made to order so it can take a while for your order to get filled. Many people choose to call in, so even if there is no line it might take slightly longer than you think because of the smart ones who call ahead.

Day off and wanted to get some lunch wagon food. Was on the way to Onotogo but the truck not there. Major traffic and detours so I decided to head back home. Hang U-Turn and Bam, Bright Red Truck. I guess was meant to be. Friendly service and sandwich was delicious. Had the Sweet and Spicy Pulled Pork and can’t wait to have another. Garlic fries were ok.

Call me a Sub Stalker if you want. I will own up to stalking this food truck for their subs! LOL Months ago I discovered this food. truck by chance. And have started following/stalking them via twitter to find out where the truck will be parked and what the daily special will be. They serve tasty subs, no joke! If you have been to this food truck you know the line and wait can happen– yet worth the wait. Smarties have figured out to call their order in ahead of time. I havent worked my way through the menu. But each sub has been mouthwatering. The service is really friendly. If you go there enough I have seen the staff use customers first name. And greet the customer lile family. This food truck travels. You can get updated location and daily menus via twitter. Each Eat The Street that I have been too, I have also seem this truck there. Stop by or stalk by and grab a sub!

I am a frequent visitor to Subpreme’s Lunch truck and have had just about every sandwich on their menu! Each sandwich is unique and delicious! I had the chicken pesto melt today and it sure did not disappoint! Great service with a smile and nice conversation! The garlic Parmesan fries were also to die for, and they definitely don’t skimp on the portion size!

Pulled pork sandwich was amazing and service was great. Definitely a place to bring friends. We stay connected on Facebook to know where they will be daily. Croissants would be an awesome addition, hint hint :)

This guys sandwhich is mean! I’ve had almost every sandwhich on the menu but my favorite is the Turkey Banh Mi, moist smoked turkey with some incredible sauce that they add. They also include a generous portion of pickled vegetables which compliements the smoked turkey flavor. Bread is always fresh! Such a bonus Another favorite of mine is the Cheese steak sandwhich. Loads of steak perfectly cooked, moist and very flavorful. Cant go wrong. Garlic fries come stuffed in their container, he had a hard time loading it all in there. Huge portions with fresh garlic. Ultimately he has managed to take simple sandwhich, bring in great quality ingredients, fresh, tasty, moist and well seasoned meats and end up with high quality sandwhich but still manage to keep the price down at 5.50.

My unhealthy, healthy obsession… Banh mi. As of now, this is probably my favorite place to get the beloved Vietnamese sandwich, and I’ve tried banh mi from more than a few places. Getting one of their turkey sandwiches, like the Turkey Pesto BLT or banh mi? This is some of the tastiest, fresh, thin-sliced turkey I’ve ever had. Amazing stuff, and they’re generous with it. Pulled pork fan? Oh baby. The Sweet & Spicy pulled pork banh mi. Do it. They change it up with some kinda fantastic sauce, no skimping on the carrot and daikon, cucumber, and cilantro. Topped off with sriracha aioli. Flavorful explosions in every bite! Ask for extra napkins for this one, maybe have a pack of Wet Ones handy. You won’t want to slow down to be neat about it. This sandwich can and should be dirty business. The special sandwich for Eat the Street«Dia De Los Muertos» was the«Cubano» banh mi. Another winner. Not gonna bother telling you about it. One, because I don’t remember the details, and two, I don’t know if they’ll bring it back. The important thing is they continue to impress! I expected a little more french fries for the price, not a big deal though. Still rating the price range at one dollar sign, because the sandwiches are affordable and filling. The guys at this place are friendly and the food is served with a smile, that’s always cool! By the way, this ain’t no busted olé’ bus converted to a food truck. This truck/trailer is pretty slick looking! It’s bright red and hard to miss, and at this point it looks clean inside and out. Seems like this place gets cranking from the get go, don’t be surprised if there’s a bit of a wait. I think we should consider dinner hours, guys!

I rarely will give a new place I’ve eaten at, not to mention a new business in general 5 stars. This place deserves all 5 of these bad boys. These young guys might just be the subpreme of subs! I just wish they were open more frequently augh! Got here at around 11:30, just in time for the lunch rush goddamit. The guy was swamped with phone orders and people started coming from around the area. I waited for about 30 minutes for my order. But you know, it was okay. Because at the end the guy was apologetic, cool, and still managed to smile and be friendly. I could tell he was a little stressed, especially since they make the food on the spot and he had to take orders and answer the phone. I give him respect, and my thanks for not being grouchy! BF and I got the turkey banh mi, sweet and spicy pulled pork banh mi, and side of garlic parmesan fries. All banh mi sandwiches come with pickled daikon/carrots, a cucumber, cilantro, and siracha aioli. Turkey banh mi $ 5.50: Where’s smokey the bear when you need him! You can taste the quality of the turkey, and it’s nothing of what I expected out of a truck! I don’t know if they make their turkey themselves, but these aren’t no cold slices! It’s like they have a roasting bird back there they shred from. The siracha aioli helps make the sub not too dry and it’s pretty good. S&S pulled pork banh mi $ 6.50: Flavor meter went way high for this one! I loved the combo of the dripping, seasoned pork with the toasted baguette. Even when it became soggy it was delicious. I did get a few wiggly, fatty pieces but didn’t care. The fatty angel on my shoulder was even tempting me to just eat them. If you’re looking for something different, I definitely recommend trying this, especially with the awesome price! Turkey pesto BLT Sandwich: A generous amount of delicious turkey, thick, candied bacon, fresh lettuce and tomato slices. Plus, a nice spread at the bottom of pesto. I love how their sandwiches are all well packed with goodies! They don’t fill you up on junk fillers, but make your sub with great ingredients. Each bite of this was amazing! Even as leftovers the next day ;-) Parm garlic fries $ 3.50: This was kind of a dissapointment. The fries were good, but just not seasoned enough, and a way smaller portion then what I expected for the price. They’re cut skinny like Mcdonalds, which was actually nice since a lot of places do steak fries nowadays. But you’re better off ordering the regular fries because I couldn’t really taste the garlic/parmesian. And I think they just use regular garlic salt… But like I said, they were fried nice and tasty. Just go with the regular, unseasoned ones though! These guys make me want a Twitter just so I can follow em! But since I don’t tweet, here’s the link to theirs in case you do ~ Edit: So… I made a twitter just to follow them… I know i’m #lame

Always super tasty and makes a great lunch that’s not heavy, even if you get the turkey pesto BLT. Right now I can’t get enough sweet & spicy pulled pork banh mi. Hoisin based BBQ with slow heat. Yum! I’ve tried the whole menu at least once except for the 2 Ham sandwiches(bacon? Yes! Ham? Ehhh– sometimes).

Oh Subpreme how do I love thee? Let me count the ways … 1. The high energy and great service that you provide to even the finicky customers. 2. The ham and turkey you smoke yourself, so fresh, so hot, so good!!! 3. The gently toasted french roll… Crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside. Perfect holding place for that yummy meat. 4. The macadamia nut pesto aioli compliments the chicken and turkey so well. 5. Your reasonably priced sandwiches! Don’t ask me to choose my favorite, for I can’t. All the sandwiches have touched my wanting lips and none has disappointed me. Every week I search longingly for your truck outside my window at work. Willing to wait and forsake all food trucks that come around to entice me. You have countless admirers that come to you wooing you with their dollar bills and smiles. For they know(like I do), that nothing compares to the deliciousness of your sandwiches that I have loved from the moment my lips touched them.

Their truck is bright red — it’s kind of hard to miss. Upon walking up to the truck, the owner is young and fresh and all about customer service. You can tell he loves what he does. He’s a multi-tasker. This day he was short-staffed, and yet he still was full of smiles and small talk with us. For our first time there, he immediately left a good impression. He told us he smokes his own turkey and ham and that we should give it a try. Trust the expert. We ordered the honey ham banh mi and we were not disappointed. It’s my preference to have a softer baguette but this toasty, flakey one is more traditional for true, Vietnamese banh mi sandwiches. They pack in the meat and the pickled veggies. What I did notice was the absences of jalapenos. What caught me by pleasant surprise is the spread they use is spicy. So instead of biting into a dangerous jalapeño that packs a punch, you have an even distribution of low heat. Props for that! Garlic parmesan fries: I have a love hate relationship with this side. I hated that the fries were itty bitty pieces. Perhaps we got the short end of the stick(aka the bottom of the bowl) of fries. We needed forks to pick up all the tiny fries. But what I did LOVE about this was that the fries were perfectly cooked(crispy outside, soft center) and swimming in garlic, pepper and parmesan. Literally, when we finished the fries, there was a heaping serving of leftover garlic at the bottom. Ya, you’re not kissing anyone after eating this. But I think it’s worth it! haha Subpreme — I really do like your truck so much! Please use bigger fries! And perhaps it would make mother earth smile if you could stop using styrafoam containers to package your sandwiches. Why not go Viet style and just wrap em up in recycled paper? Pretty, please? See you soon, red truck!

Honestly I went to Taco’ako Tuesdays at Kaka’ako because I was craving Tacos. But I was disappointed on how there were barely any tacos being served… Subpreme caught my eye with the bright red truck with white accents. I was staring at their menu and asked the worker what is their popular menu items. He named chicken pesto melt, and I thought that sounded really good so I had to get it. Oh boy, the sandwich was really really good. The bread was soft and toasty, chicken was cooked perfectly and the pesto sauce was awesome. They also give you a «Subpreme» sticker with your order which I thought was cool. The sandwich was a bit pricy i think $ 8?

Finally got around to trying this new truck that just recently popped up on the scene. Subpreme offers a twist on the Vietnamese style«Bahn Mi» sanwich, with their own blend of ingredients. From a sweet and spicy pulled pork, to chicken adobo, theve got lots of flavor combinations. Fresh baguettes cradle the meat and viet style pickled vegetables. I love the crusty bread thats soft on the inside. Keeps your hands clean, Which i greatly appreciate. Another big plus for these guys… They brine and roast their own turkey and ham. Lots of love goes into even the simplest of sandwiches. I easily give them a 4 star review. Would have gone 5, but one of the ownders said i just have to try their turkey-pesto-blt. So, i will search them out again to try their must have flavor combo before awarding another star. Thanks Guys!
