PlayBar Waikiki

This place is just the worst. The DJ doesn’t know shit and the bouncers and waitress are rude as hell. Just go to Moose’s.

I decided to give it a whirl during happy hour, can’t beat cheap drinks and no cover! They also advertised a «hot bartender». It’s a nice place to chill during the week days, not too crowded and good music. I chatted with a few people and had a good time.
The girl outside is way better looking than the bartender and has a better personality, she should be on the inside serving drinks!!!

I guess it’s as good as it can get on Waikiki. Different drink specials every night. Too bad, still infected by the local yokels who cock block… As long as you go in confident, you’ll find a chick. Otherwise, u’ll deal with the local haters.

If your in town on a Wednesday or Sunday its $ 1 drinks. I lived here for 6 years and I go whenever I want a good time. You can always meet new people here too !!! Thank me later

Fun little club. The stage lights up. DJ played hip hop and the dance floor was packed on a Friday night. Don’t know why reviews are so low but we had a blast! We’re visiting and would definitely come back next time. Party hardy!

Not too shabby. Small little night club. Dollar drinks on Wednesday (select drinks). Five bucks to get in. At least on Wednesday.

Great bar and good drink prices. I like the music and bartender and had a Hawaiian beer in the club I will recommend this to anyone who comes to the island.

Avoid this place. I came here for a few drinks the waitresses avoided us for the longest time. I made a tab and they needed a id. They «losted» my id … Never ever coming to by his place EVER agian. Tip they good for ok service lame as fuck…

As a regular. I feel so un welcomed when I come here. It’s embarrassing actually. Not one hello when entering. Sad. All they want to do is scare you. Tourist get treated better for some reason. We’re is the aloha!!!

Before heading out to District Club, we (boyfriend and I) stumbled upon Play Bar. No cover and cheap drinks?! Oh hells yes! Place seemed like a normal bar and it wasn’t crowded. We had a nice conversation with two older guys that just wanted a place to drink and chill. They were super nice and even offered to buy us drinks! Bartender was nice, check. Place bookmarked for future drinks, check. Until the next time Play Bar!
So the next day, we waited in line for 1+ hour at Sky Waikiki just to wait in line even longer. Couldn’t get in so we brought ourselves back to Play Bar. 21+ free cover. Nice! Even though happy hour was gone, you still couldn’t beat their cheap drinks. We had drinks with some cool people and just had a great time. This place isn’t meant to be classy. It’s a place to be ratchet and get your drunk on. Everyone was here to have a good time. Although I did notice ratio of guys to girls was like 6 to 1. So be careful ladies! But both times here with my boyfriend, no complaints. Heck, the manager or whatever was so nice that he bought us each a drink!
Although I can only compare this place to District, I’d go here over District any time.

I only go to Waikiki with a specific group of friends, and ever since Maddogs closed (oh how we miss it!) we come to PlayBar with a specific mission:
–cheap pre-​game drinks for wherever we are planning to really go
–look at the fish in their fish tank
For this type of agenda, PlayBar gets the job done. However, if this is where you are thinking of going to spend your evening, you should definitely reconsider! We’ve come once for an extended period of time (around an hour) and it was terrible…18+ and an «interesting» crowd make for a really creepy and awkward experience.
They often have girls standing in front of the bar on Kuhio Ave. passing out flyers. Make sure you take one per person, because usually these flyers are for free cover before 11pm! After you get your flyer, you’ll need to show your ID to the bouncer at the front, and he will give you a wristband if you are 21+. Once you pass the bouncer, take your flyer to the cashier, and she will stamp your hand.
Our go-​to table is right next to the fish tank at the entrance. We grab cheap drinks from the bar (Long Islands or well vodka drinks) and then sit in awe of the fish. This same pattern happens 3 times but is also sometimes cut short if it starts getting more crowded or if we get creepy stares from other people. We stayed one night when it was really crowded, which was a bad choice! Random people were crashing our table, the dance floor was sticky and sweaty, and it felt like we were the oldest ones in a sea of 18 year olds.
TL;DR — 18+, cheap drinks, and fish tank!

First of all, dont go here unless you are looking for a ratchet experience or are 18. I dont know if its 18+ all nights or just Fridays or what but it is 18+ … If youre looking for a ratchet bar this is your spot. If not, dont bother…
With that out of the way heres my review. Its got the light up dance floor and it is what it is, nothing else needs to be said. Its small and tight and dark. If youre white you wont have any issues in here so dont feel like you cant go in (I knew people who were afraid to go in haha). The DJ is good. I personally really liked the music when in that mood. Its Hip Hop & Rap music and maybe a little R&B but thats it. You wont hear Taylor Swift in here haha. Drinks are good and cheap. One of the few bars I actually saw they had Hpnotiq so they had an okay variety of liquors here. Youll see a lot of military in here and a good amount of tourists in here as well… Usually Japanese but youll run into your stray aussie here and there. Also, there is a cover for guys… Either 5 or 10, cant remember. Think girls were free.
If you dont like this type of scene, youd probably give it a 1 star. If you love that scene, youd probably give it a 4 (could still be nicer). For me, Ill give it a 3. Its alright but nothing special to me.

This place is boring. They gave me a coupon outside for free entry then charged me at the next door. Then charged me $ 7 for a corona when they advertise $ 3 beers. Booo oh and everything is sticky.

Great 4am Waikiki DanceClub. Resident DJ got Worldly Skills. Bartenders pour right. Security are Proper n Ohana.

Kind of just happened in here. Seems like a place with people who just want to dance and have fun. This is definitely not an upscale club or bar. Felt casual, diverse, and overall chill. It’s not poppin’, it’s not the type of place that you spend your whole night at.
Very cheap but very light drinks.
The two guys I was with each had to pay cover, can’t remember how much.

Other (bad) reviews are fair, but PlayBar was exactly what I was looking for that night. Saturday night 1:30am in Waikiki and I wanted to dance. Hip hop; no frills, just fun. I heard PlayBar was open til 4am. Let’s do it.
The line moved quickly and inside was packed. Music was pretty great, banger after banger. Drinks were stiff and cheap. It was on the grimy side, but I had a fabulous time. Kept the party going and danced til dawn (almost lol).

Why … oh why do we keep coming back here!!! It’s ratchet! And filled with so much thirsty bitches (both male and female), it’s annoying.
Maybe it’s cause of the lack of actual good night clubs here on the island. I wish we had gone to the M instead :/​
So … my night there was … eventful. And not in a good way either. We hung out there this past Saturday night. bad mistake
Firstly, we got there already slightly buzzed from pre-​gaming … yeah I do that still :|
Secondly … bouncer dude at the front was totally … I cant even think of a word to describe him. When you start getting that creeped out feeling … uncomfortable is one word .
Anyway … he tells us that he needs to ‘pat us down’ … seriously? A guy doing pat downs on females? They’ve never done that before. We stood there and just stared at him. he laughed and said he was kidding … Riiight … joking …
We paid $ 10 each to get in and notice the large amounts of underage kids … So why again did we come here? :/​Oh yeah. cause we’re stupid. We got our drinks, which for the place is always decent, but over priced.
There was no place to sit, so we ended up standing by the bar … to which we were constantly bombarded by these goddamn kids who kept trying to pick us up. Like seriously? being called ‘Ma’ and ‘Baby” by. well. BABIES! Was so not attractive. Shoo fly!
The music was mediocre, but the light was pretty good. Wish they’d play something other than rap all the time …
Said bouncer that I mentioned in the beginning … came and sought us out inside and tried talking to us … kept rubbing my arm and asking where we were going after this … and can I take him home with me … Is that sexual harassment? Can you say gross :/​

We ended up running, seriously, running out when he left to go talk to another bouncer. BUT … In doing so my girlfriend forgot her bag that had her wallet and other lady stuff along with our phones. We went back to inquire about it. We weren’t even let back in to look and see. We were told that if someone turns it in they will let us know. Right. I’m sure someone will turn in a Juicy Couture bag with two Iphones in it. Jackasses.
This place sucks and I hope to never make the mistake of going back there.
Come only if you want to hang out with kids and get sexually assaulted by bouncers.
