I was liking his place until a regular walked and got their order of pupu’s before we did and we ordered before they walked in… not good!

Pau Hanas was da winnahs. I attended a wedding reception here and it was loads of fun. Great fun atmosphere and a diamond in the rough. There is plenty parking available along the canal but I felt a little bad pulling up right next to someones tent home. When I got out of my car an older gentleman sitting on a bench assured me he’d keep a good eye on my new quarter/mid life crisis ride for me. I was reassured. The first thing that strikes you about PHL is the sweet ass stage backdrop. There’s a really pretty high res Waikiki Beach by night printing along the back and side wall behind the stage which is neato greedo. They feature a lot of different acts on the stage and there was a great traditional Hawaiian music band that mixed in some good 70s rock covers that I really enjoyed. The service was great, our waitress clearly works out and was really cool to our studly friend who is just a stud. Ask about their Jenny bomb drink. I’m not sure what it was but it was great. BOOM Ka-pau hana lounge is good fun.

Went to Pau Hana with some friends on Friday Oct. 3rd. The place was crowded with a few tables that looked open, but was actually reserved. No host and we were looking around where we could sit. A friendly guy directs us to the open table. We order some drinks and then we looked at the menu to order some food. The table next to us was being served a sizzling platter that smelled SOOOOOOOOOGOOD! We asked the waitress what that table was just served and we told the sizzling steak. Perfect, so we ordered the steak, fries, and kalamari rings. The beer was cold and good. Our food comes out and the sizzling steak was not sizzling and there was no smell like the table next to us. The steak was not seasoned with the exception of the onions on it. It was tender, but just plain. Bummer. The fries were ok and the Kalamari was good. The portions seemed a bit small compared other places. We ordered more food, Kalbi, soy beans, cucumber kim chee, and garlic chicken. The Kalbi came out and was on the salty side and a bit over seasoned. We went from one extreme to the other with the steak being bland and the kalbi being salty. We were hungry and just washed it down with beer. The soy beans were good, the cucumber kim chee was cut into ¼ inch x ¼ inch pieces. Very difficult to eat. It was seasoned nicely with chili’s and kim chee sauce, but was also salty. The garlic chicken was very good. Small tender pieces well seasoned and was fried just right. We ordered a salad with Fresh tuna salad. This was the BESTDISH we ate there. The lettuce and veggies we seasoned slightly with an oriental type dressing and the fresh tuna salad was delicious. All in all it was a somewhat disappointing experience based on the review we read on Unilocal prior to our visit. The drinks were good and the salad was excellent but that was about it! We will most likely not be returning as for 4 people, the bill was very high. I have to say the service was pretty good, but the food needs improvement.

We recently went here for a charity event/fundraiser and had a lot of fun despite it not really being«our scene.» It looks like a bit of a hole in the wall, not too appealing from the outside, and not much better on the inside. The parking situation is kind of cruddy — there’s a lot with a few stalls, but it seems to fill up quick. You can park on the street, but it’s not very well-lit and is kind of shady. Once you’re inside, it’s simple enough — there’s booths/tables, TV’s, a bar, and an area for live music(not really a stage, kind of just a corner). The waitresses are super attentive — if you’ve got like 1⁄3 of your drink left, they’ll be headed your way to see if you need a refill. All of the staff, really, are very nice and on top of things. The pupus are SOGOOD. The garlic chicken in particular is bangin’. Even when it’s not happy hour, there are still some drink specials. I had like 5 drinks and my bill was $ 24 lol. You just CAN’T beat that. The drinks were super good, too — plenty of alcohol, not just filler. I felt a buzz off of my first one… thumbs up to that! The popular thing here seemed to be the Heineken or Coors beer towers. I haven’t seen those in a while, so I was amused. The live music was great. If I worked in town, I would probably hit up Pau Hana every night to wait out the H1 traffic. It’s pretty divey, which like I said isn’t really our thing, but overall I enjoyed our time here. We were clearly the odd ones out when we walked into the bar, not knowing anyone, etc., but we were quickly approached by friendly locals and welcomed into friendly conversation. I just had an overwhelmingly good feeling being here — it was super laid back, casual, relaxing, fun. I would definitely return!

Good place to have a drink or three. We went in the early afternoon, so there wasn’t much of a crowd. Good service. Good Happy hour drink and food specials. Lots of TVs are setup around the bar to watch your favorite sports team. There is also a stage for live music. I would definately come here again.

This was my first time here so here is my current review of the place. I’m currently on a 10 day detox/cleanse so I couldn’t eat any food or drink anything. Will have an updated review the next time I come here. Parking: They do have a private lot for parking but the lot isn’t the best with limited stalls and lot being uneven with pot holes in random places. It’s dark so be aware if you’re walking alone. Lot of street parking on the road near the front entrance to the stairs leading up to the lounge area. Food and Drinks: As I mentioned, I couldn’t eat or drink anything but all my friends thought the food was amazing and drinks were very reasonably priced. Don’t have to comment on alcohol because everyone loves it! ;p I was amazed that the prices here were a lot less than I expected for bar/lounge food. Ambiance: This place is very casual and very chill. I came from work and was over dressed in business casual the night I went. Lots of locals and everyone here is friendly, including the waitresses. They had live music the night I went which was awesome and made the night even better. Due to the live music, it was very loud and hard to talk but I’m sure during nights without live music, it’s a great place to have a drink, food and conversation with friends. I would come back again to chill with friends. Worth checking out and great spot to wait out traffic if you’re heading on the H1 during rush hour.

The Pau Hana Pupus menu is delicious!!! My favorite is the Pau Hana Burger $ 12. The sauce is amazing! The burger is stuffed with bacon and cheese topped with fresh nalo greens and their magical sauce on a croissant bun! So ono!!! Ample street parking. Good live music. Great atmosphere for families, large gatherings, parties/events!

Came here with my co-workers. We had a long and tiring work week. We had a nice spot in the back, ordered a bunch of pupus and drinks. We were set. It started off slow and got busy right when 6:00 came around. We’ll definitely be coming back.

This place is awesome! The staff are very friendly and accommodating. The pupus are winnahz and the drinks… well they speak for themselves! Very reasonably priced. Come early, not because there’s no seats but it gives you more time to enjoy yourself. They’re open for breakfast, lunch, dinner and beyond!

Last night, my wife Michelle and I checked out this place. Even before we walked in we were treated great! We were greeted at the door by one of the owners, Javan. Real cool friendly guy. As it happens, it was his wife’s(Chanelle) birthday. We scored! On stage, Kapena played. it’s been awhile since I’ve seen the band play, but Kelly and his kids are awesome together as a band. By the look of the love in the form of lei around Chanelle’s neck, she and the Pau Hana are well loved. Aloha in, aloha out!

Pau Hana pleases! This place had been on my foodie bucket list. Check– I can now cross it off! Thanks to my besties. This sure to be a repeat type of place. This would have rated 5 fabulous stars, the only draw back was honestly the location of this hidden treasure. We drove down a dark little street along the canal by HCC. In between Dillingh and King St. KOHOUST. Parking is either in the lot or on the srreet. Pau Hana is upstairs.(I am always leary of establishments that serve alcohol upstairs– a small voice in my heads says– crap a few too many drinks and someone could roll down these stairs!) There are two entrances-one in front and one from the back, parking lot side. This place has ample room to sit a few or groups of people. The drink menu is longer than the food menu. And they have a good mix of drinks. Someone could make it a goal to work their way through the drink menu **but not all on the se night –have to throw this in for safety reasons LOL ** I tried a few of the drinks. And I am now a fan of each of the drinks that I had.(Rolls Royce, Oahu, and the Hawaii) Pau Hana also has beer towers at a stellar price range starting as low as $ 20! The food was super tasty! Garlic edamame in oyster sauce.(gonna try this combo in my kitchen the next time I make edamame) Pau Hana Pork chops have an awesome mix of flavors. The spring rolls were surprisingly good, they mix it with beef and pork. The sliders were mighty tasty and finger lickin good. With the melted nacho cheese it can be slightly messy but completely worth it. I think the Pau Hana offers a catering style menu for large groups who want to eat the food. I saw a group of people celebrating a birthday here. We visited on a Saturday evening and there were two different sets of live bands playing. A large dance floor. All around a definite place to come back too. The staff was stellar too! We had even asked for Fireball shots and they didnt carry this item, but a staff member went amd bought a bottle from someplace close by and put out shoots for us! That alone should give this place five stars! Check this place out, dont let the location hold you back.

Another one of my favorite pau hana places. I first came here when my friend had his birthday party. Kind of tricky to find because it’s upstairs. But what a classy place! You wouldn’t even know just by looking at the outside of the building. Looks like they put a lot of blood, sweat, tears and mula into this place. Their best quality is they have a beautiful sound system for their karaōke and live music. That makes a huge difference. We had a blast and the drinks kept coming. It’s very roomy inside and the staff are friendly. It’s locally owned and operated… no korean drinky drinky if you know what I mean.

This little lounge(upstairs) is such a great hold in the wall place to go and grab some drinks and great pupu’s. Yes, I’ll admit-the outside neighborhoold seems a bit sketchy. But once you get inside, seated and are welcomed by great staff– you’ll forget that your in a ghetto neighborhood. I went with 2 friends around 4:30pm. There is street parking plus a parking lot right next to the lounge. Multiple tables to choose from, we grabbed a booth. I ordered nacho curly fries and Palehu steak which was oh so juicy and tender! They also have a great happy house(not during football games) and pitchers of beer! I will def be back again to try their happy hour drinks!

Pau Hana is a great bar! Despite the sketchiness of its location, on Kohou Street right across the stream from HCC in Kalihi, its local style and the atmosphere is friendly. They have a number of nice new HD TVs perfect for watching a game, poker, or even a political debate — the staff is very receptive to letting patrons watch what they want! The hidden gems at this place are definitely the food — though the martini menu is great too, almost 50 in all! The stuffed pork chops are the cat’s meow, the streak is also great, and they even blow it up with the simple things. You must try the cold Tofu covered in bonito flakes and the edemame which they do two ways, simple sea salt or über tasty furikake version. In addition to eating and drinking, Pau Hana is host to a number of fun events and has great specials. This past summer they were home to a number of Heineken Hot Hawaiian Nights shows. Recently they added an open mic stand up night on Tuesdays which is also $ 4 martini night, and there’s always karaōke! So it’s always a good idea to stop in and see what’s new, you won’t regret it!

This locally owned Lounge has been my new favorite spot to hang out at! It has been open for about three weeks now and is great for large parties, gatherings, if you like to sing karaōke, or listen to live entertainment on Fridays, and Saturdays! I think the musicians go on stage about 6pm. The lounge looks about 3500 square feet with a beautiful hand crafted bar put together by the owners, totally rennovated from what it was before, beautiful white couches and bar stools, a huge dart room, a nice sized stage with a mural in the background of Waikiki and Diamond Head. The food menu is a bit small but Im sure will have more selection as the trial and errors occur in the beginning of opening a brand new bar. There is a happy hour from 2pm-6pm and drinks are $ 1 cheaper! Domestic beer is $ 3 after happy hour and Imports are $ 4. I just learned of Bud Light Platinum, Miller 64? with only 64 calories per beer… something like that… I just tried a shot called orange cream which tastes like an orange creamsicle! YUM! Its made with whipped vodka and orange juice! My new FAV! They have 4 beers on tap. There was Heiniken, Longboard Lager, Bud light and Blue Moon! You get a nice orange slice with the Blue Moon beer! Tastes really good together! The service is great! There are tons of waitresses that come around and circle all the tables so it seems like they work together and its not just one waitress that serves you. The owners are two fire fighters and their wives. So a great crowd comes into this place! I met a lot of Kamehameha grads in there that went to school with Javan(one of the owners). Chanelle is Javan’s wife and she is a beautiful bartender and has the best aloha spirit if you were to ask anyone that knows her. You can book a birthday party, retirement party, social gathering at Pau Hana Lounge and the owners can cook you whatever menu you would like! They are open to whatever the customer wants! This bar is a great locals hangout with beautiful women and handsome men! Great looking people! Im happy to say Pau Hana Lounge has more women in here than men and that is great because its a nice socializing atmosphere! Definitely NOT a buy me drinkie bar like downstairs. Just a friendly atmosphere in a contemporary-designed setting. The greatest part about drinking here is that the waitresses are happy to serve you iced water after a few drinks to make sure you dilute yourself before you are on your way! Their hours of operation are Monday through Sunday from 2pm to 2am.
