The burgers looked great on the menu, but didnt taste so great to the belly… for over priced burgers in a nice setting… i give it a 2-star up! *See photos*

Papa don’t preach… he makes super ono burgers!!! Well, you know you’re preggers if the stomach steers you toward burgers for lunch twice in one month. And Papa’s has certainly hit the spot! The quiet and cool interior that greets you with a blast of air con is a welcome departure from the ever crowded and noisy atmosphere of The Counter… and dare I admit that there burgers are better? YES! The burgers here are way better. Fave burger thus far is the BiBimBop Burger. I LUVED this burger at first bite! They serve their burgers open-faced so you can arrange your toppings in the desired fashion. Very neat and tidy it was. Ordered me a double of that spicy sauce and BAM! This burger knocked my socks off! Perfectly cooked and the actual patty was very sizable with a well-matched burger-to-bun ratio. The fried egg really pulled it all together. Delish! And the leaning tower of BiBimBop… definitely order 2 sauces as this was just the right amount of kick. I think I might have thought the burger needed more taste had I not asked for more sauce on the side. Pork and Shrimp Thai Burger — This was the reason we came, but not the reason we will be returning. The burger looked incredibly appetizing and was perfectly cooked as well, but I did not order an extra side of sauce. This burger definitely needs more of that spicy Thai sauce. ORDER2SAUCES!!! Miso Pork Burger — On a second trip I tried this option. I really appreciate that they have multiple options for those that aren’t feeling so beefy… at any rate, this burger was a win. The sauce is slightly sweet and runny, making this the messiest Papas concoction I tried, but it was very tasty. Would definitely eat this again. With multiple cow-free varieties, two vegetarian options, and all LOCALBEEF this burger joint tops my list in terms of eco– and customer-conscious dining. Guaranteed a $ 9-$ 10 burger is a bit pricey, but considering their commitment to local meats and veggies, and the fact that most burger spots are charging the same or similar without keeping it local, I’m willing to fork over(or fork in) the extra $ 2. All of our burgers have been perfectly cooked and the employees have been genuinely pleasant. I definitely like how quiet and clean this joint is! NOTE: My hubber really enjoyed the texture of the meat at Papas, which is a finer grind than other burger joints. Parking is the pits at Market City, so we usually park in the back by Ben Franklin and walk up. Definitely order extra sauces for your meat-fest and your good to go!

We stopped at Market City Shopping Center and decided to give Papa’s Burgers a try. I love trying different Burger Joints and walking inside I thought what a nice décor inside. The menu offered a nice variety of burgers, so I ordered the Thai-Burger and fries. Review: Thai Burger: Shrimp and Pork mix patty, carrots, sprouts and spicy sauce(IMO Not Spicy enough). Patty was cooked well, but somehow all the flavors and texture just didn’t excite me… I give it 3 Stars Fries: Nicely cut, large basket, Dipping sauce very good.3.5 Good Service, Parking Shared. Might give Papa’s another go around and try something else.

No No No. Leaden hockey pucks of burger meat. The guy was using his flipper-thingey to press down on the burgers as they cooked, removing any remote suggestion of juiciness or flavor. Just say no.

When I first heard of Papa’s Burgers, I thought to myself…“great…another burger place is opening up in our city.” Do we really need another one? The answer is quite simple: Yes, who doesn’t like a burger(Francis C. doesn’t for the record)? Well, Papa’s Burgers offers some interesting burgers that clearly stand out from the competition and good service at reasonable prices that make it easy to come back for more. The menu features burgers you would come to expect, burgers that stand out, and of course a build your own burger option. While the burgers that you have come to expect are done well, what you really need to try are the burgers that stand out. Who the heck would think to make a BiBimBurger? They already did a taco, why not a burger? Well, its like eating a BiBimBap but without the rice! Not too salty, not too sweet, but just right. The fries are sold by the«barrel» and are a good amount for two people and come with both ketchup and a aioli dipping sauce which is a much welcomed addition to the hand cut fries. The fries are good sized and cooked well with the crunch exterior and the soft and moist interior. Service was good although you will wait for a bit for your burger. So plan accordingly if you are hungry. Remember, burgers are made to order and if you haven’t made a burger recently, they aren’t made in 2 minutes. All in all, there are definitely some highs and some lows when it comes to their menu, however they do certainly stand out from the rest with a few good burgers that they do well.

One of two things happened tonight: A) The burgers here are as bad as MAY’S BURGERPATTIES, or B) The restaurant ran out of their normal burgers, and served May’s Burger Patties as replacement, without warning patrons. That was the most important part of this entire review, because EITHER scenario is completely unacceptable, and painfully hypocritical of a business that advertises«100% Big Island Grown Beef.» I am not all right with this, and I hope this is heard. When I say«May’s Burger Patties,» you know what I’m talking about. Frozen, thrown on a grill and cooked to a grey mess, complete with rubbery texture and chewing difficulties. There was no mistaking it, and if you know me, you know I know the circuit of The Counter, Honolulu Burger Company, Teddy’s and Kua’aina. Also, you know I wouldn’t just go about just talking trash about the quality of any restaurant, unless it was well-deserved. This was the worst $ 9-$ 10 burger. Ever. As you may note above, there are not one, but two stars in the review. Why a second star? Let me dispel my dark burger-cloud and get some sunshine in here: First, the ajuma that works the front of house is super nice, and kept our fountain drinks topped off at all times. She has a very clear happiness with her restaurant, and takes wonderful care of her customers. The décor is very clean, modern, and appears to be well-cared for. Second, the menu has the potential to be good, and clearly the average of 53 other Unilocalers agrees this place is above average. PERHAPS I just got the poop-burger end of a stick, and the actual burgers are palatable. Perhaps not. Either way, the menu is appealing(in text) and some items, like the fries, are extremely affordable. I won’t come back here, based on the fact that a total bill of $ 27 got us some good fries, paired with a pair of terrible May’s Burger Patties, and a diet Coke. If there’s some kind of explanation as to why our burgers were so god-awful while every other reviewer seems to have had a «moist, juicy burger,» I’d consider giving it another shot. In summary, to the owners/staff/kitchen at Papa’s: It is 8:40PM on Monday, 03/12/2012. Did you, or did you not serve frozen burgers to us tonight?

Not the best in terms of quality, they claim to be local, Big Island fresh, but they didn’t pull off fresh taste with under-seasoning and over-cooking the beef. The concept, a total winner, not necessarily original, but their flavors are unique(I think). Now, understand — we showed up 30 minutes before closing, and they completely welcomed us in. Now, on the other hand, that probably wasn’t the best in terms of 8:30 not really being their«Prime» time, but it showed they care, somewhat, about the customer. The GOOD: Friendly staff(when we were there). Another winner: Shake!(Valentines special, extra thick, strawberry-chocolate shake. It was an awesome winner. Artie T., Justin R. and I came in to enjoy a good late night dinner. I ordered myself a BiBimBap Burger, and let me tell you — Delicious. I cried a little thinking about the Gogi Truck, biting into a massive burger covered in kim-chee and a perfectly cooked(oozing) fried egg. Although, my two burger companions didn’t have an amazing burger like mine(Art T. ordered a Pineapple burger, and Justin R. got himself a Baja Burger) I enjoyed my meal, my burger. The BAD: A HUGE bucket of fries was also ordered — and they sucked. Unfortunately, I think it was because we came in 30 minutes before closing — they tasted… re-fried. You know, they had some left overs, just warm them back up in the hot oil kind-of-deal. I don’t want to believe it, but I fear that is what they did — BUT I HAVENOPROOF. And I could be COMPLETELY wrong. I will admit that. Other than that — THAT was the only bad in my experience. Again, Art T. and Justin R. didn’t have a great burger in their hands, but I will let them review their own experiences. OVERALL: Three burgers + Bucket of Fries + Shake = $ 43 + Tip. For what you get… I will say, it is a biiiiit of a stretch, but you should try it nonetheless. If I were to come back, I’d skip the fries and try the shrimp and pork burger — sounds interesting. And I will come back and give them another chance.

Big and juicy two handed burgers. Crispy fries with aioli sauce plus a shake almost as thick as a frozen half gallon of ice cream! All American basics, but on top of that, these Koreans decided to spice it up a bit by offering some interesting variations. I got to try three different burgers but I want to come back for some more. Actually, I had headed over this way to try Soul which is a couple of blocks away. We cruised by Soul a couple of times looking for parking and gave up. Papa’s was pretty high on my list after rave reviews by Lori I and Kyle H. I also was excited because I knew they had 2 different vegetarian burgers for me to pick from. Here is the deal: Huge half pound Big Island grass fed beef patties. If you are a big eater it is perfect. If you are a normal eater or you have kids you can cut them in two and share. Our fries were crispy and it is nice with the aioli sauce. One order was enough for the 3 of us because the burgers are so big you don’t want to waste your time filling up on fries. Shakes come in a medium size glass jar and are very thick and taste great. Shakes are enough for 2 people because they are more like eating ice cream. The only other item on the menu is an Acai Bowl but we did not try this. Our very kind and sweet server verified that the meat would be medium well unless we wanted it some other way. Me: I had the Portobello Mushroom burger. I’m giving it a 3.5. It was huge and heavy and pretty good. I think the mushrooms were marinated in balsamic vinegar giving it a tangy taste. While I enjoyed it, I agree with Thomas O in that it would have been better with some aioli sauce on it. So I fixed it up a bit myself to make it more to my liking.( ) Spousal unit: Bi Bim Bop Burger. Not so subtle tip off to the Korean tendencies of the chef. Egg on top, daikon and red sauce. It had a nice spicy flavor to it. I tried it even though I stick to being vegetarian almost all the time. At a full ½ lbs it was more than she was accustomed to eating.( ) Offspring unit: Bacon cheddar cheese burger. Again I tasted this as there was no way she could eat all of it. It had a tasty barbecue sauce on it. Lots of flavor and the bacon was extra thick.( ) Sometimes you just want something simple like a burger and fries. Papa’s is fairly new but I think it has it’s place. Can’t wait to try the black bean burger. I think I’ll be coming back. The pork and shrimp burger sure sounds good. Plus, I might just might get creative with the build your own burger plan. Overall 3.5 stars. I liked it!

The burgers are not bad at Papa’s. I think Papa’s fulfills a good niche in the Market City area because its your American staple in a wonderful area of ethnic food. Because with Phở, Anytime Café, Café Kaila, Toritos, Gina’s BBQ, and noodles on the bottom, it slots in nicely. While I rather get the bacon cheeseburger over the other patties, I think Papa’s specaility burgers such as the Pork and Shrimp are not bad. I didn’t find the Pork and Shrimp an overwhelming blast to the senses; in fact, I would say it reminded me of something I once had from the freezer at Safeway. While that sounds bad, its not. I enjoyed that pattie but that’s all. I’d eat it again, sure, but its not a priority. As for the fries bucket, okay, that whole double dipped in fat thing is very delicious and the crunch and texture is all very nice, but I still wish they wouldn’t give a whole bucket. That’s just too much I think. So all in all, Papa’s is almost a social burger experience since to make the portions worth the price, I’d go with another person and split the fries and even the burger too. Finally, a quick question. When they say the beef is super good because the cow is grass fed, I always wondered, but what else do cows eat? Maybe straw or hay, but in general, I thought cows always ate grass, so specifically a grass-fed cow is what? Isn’t that just a cow?

MmmmMMmmmMmm daily cut french fries and Baja burger… I’m craving you right meow! My BFF brought me here because she was like, you gotta try this place out. I wasn’t so excited because, well, a burger’s a burger to me. She was like, noooo, but they’re all about island sustainability and supporting local farmers and fresh stuff, so I relented :) Thankfully! We got an order of the fries to share, my friend got the bacon cheeseburger, and I the Baja burger. The fries were DELISH, like I’d take them over McD’s fries anyday!!! And that’s totallllly saying something. They were perfectly cooked, perfectly seasoned, and served with like a chili aioli that was rich yumminess in a little dish. My friend had been to Papa’s Burgers once before and ordered the Bacon cheeseburger then. When she brought me, she ordered it again. I think that speaks to the burger’s deliciousness. I was a little concerned about my Baja burger… see, I like *everything* spicy, and I was thinking this was gonna just be some wimpy spice. BUT it was sooooo good. It had chipotle sauce, pico de gallo, guacamole, lettuce, and cheese, and the hamburger patty itself was perfectly cooked, moist, a tad pink in the middle… It was pretty much a half pound of hamburger heaven. Dare I say, best burger ever?! YES, I DID– I would take this over Kua Aina any day… and that’s the truth. Five stars for clean & cute burger joint that supports island sustainability and maybe my favorite burger and fries combo ever. Can’t wait to go back and try something new!

Seats approximately 30 people, nice clean ambiance, great service. 8 different types of burgers: Bacon cheese burger $ 8.99 Baja Burger $ 9.99 Bibimbop Burger $ 9.99 Pineapple Burger $ 9.99 Pork & Shrimp(Thai burger) $ 9.99 Portabella burger $ 8.99 Pork miso $ 8.99 Black bean burger $ 8.99 Sides include: Fries $ 3.49 Acai Bowl $ 6.99 According to their signs, they use 100% big island grass fed beef, fries are cut daily and priority is to use local farmers first! I had the Baja Burger, which included, chipotle sauce, avocado, cheddar cheese, pico de gallo and lettuce. The chipotle spices, gave the beef a nice kick! A bit spicy, but that did not prevent me from devouring it. I had a sample of my friends Bibimbop Burger and that was that was pretty good! Fries were tasty, however, it got slightly soggy towards the end… I like my fries crispy. I highly enjoy the chocolate shake!

«OHHOTDAMN!» That is all I have to say about their Baja Burger. Hands down the spiciest burger I’ve ever had. Friend and I were hungry one afternoon and I suggested Papa’s Burger after reading some of the good reviews. The menu is very simple but we had trouble deciding which one to get. We eventually decided on the Baja to share and it has chipotle sauce, sour cream, avocado, pico de gallo, lettuce, etc. We also shared an order of fries and a chocolate all ice cream shake. About ten minutes later, we got our food. The fries were good because they’re fresh but not as crispy as I would like them however didn’t taste gross like soggy fries. I loved their aioli dipping sauce for it! The shake was a bit of a letdown. It was decent and came in a cool glass jar but for the $ 5.49 price tag, it didn’t seem too worth it. The burger finally came out and it was quite hefty in size. I cut it in half and we began the feeding frenzy. The burger’s spiciness was a creeper. I took my first bite and it was fine and took a couple more and my mouth was on FIYAH! It was that lingering burning kind of spicy that’s hard to get rid of. I ate fries but that didn’t help but thank goodness we got a shake! I’m not gonna lie, I almost cried. Friend was dripping sweat after the half way point of his half. The construction of the burger was kinda uneven because Friend had all the good wet ingredients like the avocado and sour cream and I had almost none which made my half pretty dry. We didn’t notice until after we stopped eating because we couldn’t handle anymore punishment. The servers were really nice and personable. The guy said the owners are Korean so I guess they are heavy handed on the spices. There should be a disclaimer for the Baja Burger because it is HOTHOTHOT! It’s definitely not for those who cannot eat spicy food. I would love to come back to try a the pork and shrimp burger. PS: The products they use is locally grown. Good for them :)

Never have I seen such innovated«asian-ish» burgers before! So after hearing so much about Papa’s Burgers, I just had to try them out for myself! I arrived around noon and the restaurant was about a third full. The restaurant was pretty nice, very clean, and the customer service was awesome(a plus in my book)! They also support local farmers and only use 100% Big Island 100% grass fed beef! Papa’s has 8 signature burgers so me and a friend decided to each get a burger and split it. That way we could have a little burger variety! We ordered the Bibimbap $ 9.99Burger Baja Burger $ 9.99 and Their bucket of fries with aioli sauce $ 3.94 The Bibimbap burger is essentially a bibimbap inside a burger. It had ko chu jang sauce, fried egg, pickled radish, tomato onion, and shredded lettuce. It was alright, but the pickled radish reminded me of eating a sandwich from bale. The Baja Burger was a sharp kick to my mouth and was unbelievably spicy! It had chipotle sauce, pico de gallo, guacamole, sour cream, shredded cheddar cheese, and lettuce. The chipotle sauce completely overpowered the guacamole and sour cream and the only thing that hit me was pure spiciness! I saw how Crissy K. said the staff warned her on the spiciness… I wish I got a warning because that dang thing was HOT! My poor friend couldn’t even finish the spicy baja concoction. But thankfully the fries helped douse that heat! I liked the fries and what’s not to like when it’s made from freshly cut whole potatoes?! The fries do include the potato skin but that amazing aioli sauce will make you forget about the skin instantly! My biggest pet peeve with Papa’s Burgers was that the burgers were too overcooked! I really wish they gave an option on how you want your burger cooked(rare, medium rare, well done). I believe this will do wonders for their burgers! My burger was a bit too overcooked to my liking and made my burger rather dry. I don’t know, It just seemed like there was something missing… But I’ll definitely give Papa’s another shot! I NEED to try this pork and shrimp thai burger and those ice cream shakes that Lori I. raved about!

Admittedly, we ended up here by accident. My husband and I had plans to go to Café Kaila for lunch. .. but we were hungry and easily discouraged by the long line. We noticed that Papa’s Burgers had some open tables and thought we would give it a shot — and are we ever glad we did! Of course we had to try«real» burgers and fries. The burgers are made from 100% Big Island grass fed beef. The ground beef itself maybe wasn’t seasoned through and through as well as it could have been, but, perhaps more importantly, it’s cooked with a nice char that gives it flavor and crispness at the edges. Plus, with all the flavors added by the extra ingredients, if the beef had been seasoned more, it’s possible that it would have been too much, all things considered. The barbecue sauce on my husband’s bacon cheeseburger was delicate and un-messy, and the bacon was tasty, crispy and attractive(not wilty/overly fatty). My baja burger was also surprisingly not messy, despite the somewhat extensive list of ingredients: It did contain avocado and sour cream, as promised, but just enough to provide flavor and not so much that it spilled all over the place. I liked that the lettuce was chopped so that it wouldn’t slip out with every bite, and I REALLY appreciated that the staff warned me ahead of time that the chipotle sauce would be hot(it was) and suggested that I get it on the side. Perfect. To my slight disappointment, the fries weren’t crispy(those are usually the best), but this is perhaps due to the cut. They weren’t sloppily limp, either, so that was OK. Plus, it’s hard to be mad about that when the aioli complimented them so well. In the true spirit of Market City eateries(what IS it about that place?!), the people who work at Papa’s Burgers are super nice. Like really, really nice. They cheerfully deconstruct the menu for you, proactively pointing out personal and fan favorites, and check on you several times during your meal to make sure you’re happy. This is highly unusual for a burger joint with just a tip jar; nay, it’s unusual period these days. Also, I totally cannot let this go. .. They have a burger emoticon. It is so cute.(It really only works in color, though, so I won’t reproduce it here.) We’ll definitely be back!

The service is excellent. You can feel the employees enthusiasm, they seem genuinely excited to serve and help you. The fries are really good, they are the same style as 5 Guys, and they give you enough for two. Then they have a fry sauce that kicks A. The only downside was the burger. It may have been the style I got(bibimbop), but the burger itself seemed a bit dry, even though I ordered it medium rare. In summary, I’ll bet it’s one of the best burger spots on the island, and I almost gave it 4 stars, but a dry patty and bland flavor killed it. But this could have been the burger, or off night. I’d give it another shot at 4 stars later. The service is excellent. You can feel the employees enthusiasm, they seem genuinely excited to serve and help you. What can $ 3.5 get you at a gourmet burger shop? A bucket of well-seasoned, hand-cut fries with aioli sauce, that’s what! Yes, a bucket! I did my research and I was skeptical after obsessively reading all of the initial reviews — complaints about wait time, soggy fries, no fries — luckily not my experience at all. I have a limited time for lunch so to ensure we got to have a nice stress-free dining experience, my wonderful friend Lori I. arrived at Papa’s early and placed our order. When I walked in the door, there she was with that gleaming silver bucket of fries beaming like a beacon of fried goodness. Mind you, I was pretty proud of myself for killing two birds with one stone(or so I thought) by ordering something I had not read in any other reviews thus far and something that was going to be somewhat waist-line friendly — the black bean burger on lettuce… But OHTHOSEFRIESANDAIOLI! So Lori and I, being the Unilocal soulmates we are were both battling that bucket of fries to the very bottom, determined to test the theory that they were soggy at the bottom — hooray, they weren’t! Crispy and tasty to the end! The black bean burger was tasty and filling! It came with sauteed onions, bell peppers, shredded carrot and on a bed of romaine. Of course I tried Lori’s pork and shrimp thai burger — AMAZING. Order it, oh so good. Juicy and spicy! I love that you can order any of Papa’s burger combos and sauces with any style patty you choose. The menu is fairly short and sweet — not so complicated you just get frustrated or over-stuff your burger. Lastly, after our food arrived and the ever-organized and dilligent L checked her watch, under 15 minute wait from order to burger. Everyone in the dining area was also given a sample of their all-ice cream shakes — we tried peanut butter(SORICH!!!) and green tea(my favorite!). The best thing is having a nice new clean and unique option in Market City, can’t wait to try the other varieties — the bibimbap with pork patty is calling my name!

I wish I had the experience that Lori I had, but sad to say… BOO!!! I hope this was just an off night or theyre still trying to get their act together. We ordered: (2) bacon cheese bugers 9.99 (1) pineapple burger 9.99 (3) shakes(mocha, green tea, penutbutter)5.49 Total about $ 50 no fries because their fryer was broken prettys steep for a burger joint. Burger place with no fries is already minus 2 stars. Burgers were big, but dry and dense… it was way over cooked… all of ours were. Bun was thick and cold. Best part of my burger was the thick strips of bacon. Milkshake was really good, but coming in literally a small jar with 1⁄3 of it being whip cream is really sad. Trying to find parking at Market city on a friday night did not make my experience any better. The wait was long too, there were a few people that seemed to wait over half hour for their take out order. Hopefully they will get it together the next time round otherwise, bye bye!

My parents were craving juicy burgers for the past week and were nearly nagging me to do something about it. I had some time today to chauffer them to town so I rattled off a list of burger joints we needed to try,(sorry Teddy, you know I love you like no other burger) but Papa’s seemed to stick! Papa I know you’re going to be upset ’Cause I was always a Unilocaler But you should know by now That I’m with Teddy. You always taught me right from wrong You need your Unilocal, daddy please be strong I may be young at heart But I know what I’m writin’ The one you warned me all about The one you said I could do without They’re an awful mess, and I’d like to add some cheese Papa don’t preach, I’m in trouble deep Papa don’t preach, I’ve been losing sleep But I made up my mind, I’m keeping my Teddy’s, oh I’m gonna keep my Teddy’s, mmm. The service and people: 5 stars all the way! The owner greeted us with such gusto, she prepared me to eat some burgalicious grindage. I had the Portabella«burger» while my parents each had ½lb+ Bacon Cheeseburgers. We shared a bucket of fries and had 3 sodas. Our bill was just shy of 40 bucks. 3 stars! Not bad, not bad. Fries are cut fresh daily! Oh shit. Who does that any more? Fries on the top of the bucket are very crispy once you get them, but as you work your way down, sogginess ensues. They need to poke vents in the buckets. Very delicious nonetheless. Their aïoli is also excellent. I wanted to bathe in it. Mine: I wanted something lighter than a ½ burger, and eating only half a burger is a faux pas I cannot allow myself to commit. Luckily I’m a mushroom person, so whenever they’re large and in charge, I gobble um up good. Juicy! But could have had less squish. The bun was mushy after a couple of bites. Overall, It was relatively flavorful but It was missing its own sauce. I slathered their special aïoli that comes with the fries on my bun and that made it a whole lot better! The toppings are fresh and the bun is different! 3.5 stars! I forgot about the dang Thai sauce! Sorry Lori! Parents: I believe they use the same ½lb grass-fed Big Island beef patties as my burgermistress Ultimate(Ulti for short) and the other burger joints that advertise it. It’s a great patty and has great beef flavor, but it’s just not the same as Teddy’s. I also recommend adding the aïoli to your buns which is an option on the create/build your own burger but I think it should be standard on even just their classic take on this glorious American meal. 3 stars! My parents loved theirs so I think it’s worth mentioning. I am sort of a burger snob. Papa’s applied for their liquor license and are awaiting the verdict. They plan to add a bar and offer beer and wine pairings with their meals in the future. The tables are cramped and my dad had a hard time enjoying his meal while the 10 year-old behind him sat a mile from his table. I hope to comeback and try their miso pork burger and the black bean patty. Damn. 3.5 stars until I come back, Papa. So don’t preach!

BIG. FAT. JUICY. TASTY. BURGERS! You better PAPA burger in yo mout soon! This new burger joint offers more than just your average burger. Let’s just get right down to business: PORK&SHRIMPTHAIBURGER $ 9.99 Sometimes I crave a juicy piece of meat but don’t feel like eating beef. This big.fat.juicy.burger is ½lb(yes! Those burgers are huge!) of pork and shrimp topped with fresh colorlful veggies(carrots and sprouts), but what really sealed the deal for me was the awesome THAI curry-inspired sauce. They are brilliant for making this Thai burger! I had ordered it «to go», but I took one bite in the restaurant and couldn’t stop eating. You can make your burger into a «burger bowl with rice(gluten free!) I finished the whole thing before I even got to the parking lot. PEANUTBUTTERICECREAMSHAKE $ 5.49 Peanut butter infused ice cream shake. No milk involved in this concoction, just pure ice cream and peanut butter. Holy crapola, that was the richest, thickest, creamiest shake ever! You really need a spoon for that one because it’s like sucking pure ice cream through the straw. This one is not for the lactose intolerant,(or those that thought they were lactose intolerant), as it is rich and creamy and as my daughter said«oh so yummy!».(I prefer their green tea shake myself.) FRIES…a whole bucket of freshly cut fries for $ 3.49 were more awesome during my dine-in experience(compared to my take-out), but the superstar here is the friggin AIOLI! I slathered some on the fries, my burger, the lettuce and my side order of bacon. In addition to their many signature burgers, you can also build your own burger, or substitute rice or greens for the bun for $ 1.50 more. LOCATION: In Market City, between Gina’s Korean BBQ and G-Sushi, in the old Blazing Steaks/Tropic Rush/Robeks spot. CREDITCARDSACCEPTED!(Visa/MC) HOURS: Daily 11a-9pm Combing innovative sauces and toppings, offering 100% Big Island grass-fed beef patties, and supporting local farmers, Papa’s Burgers, me love you long time.

This burger has landed! NATURAL. FRESH. LOCAL. YUM. Super fresh 100% Big Island grass-fed beef. Juicy pork burgers. Amazingly fresh and tasty black bean burgers – made from real black beans and veggies inside the burger patty itself! None of that Morningstar frozen black bean crap. Awesome fresh toppings. I think my favorite might be the pork with the Thai curry sauce – got a nice zing to it. Or maybe the bi bim bap burger with the tangy ko cho jang sauce, fried egg, and zingy vegetables. Or really any of the burgers with their fresh and tasty toppings. Fresh cut potato fries. It’s a bucket of potatoes that are cut and cooked to look like french fries! And oh my goodness that special mama’s aioli is awesome. I could eat a burger full of that aioli.(Correction: I have since ordered a black bean burger on rice with a side of aioli and did I ever smother that aioli all over the place!). I would have licked that cute little square plate of aioli if no one was looking. Well, I nearly did it anyway! The huge acai and fruit bowl. The all ice cream shake(try the peanut butter, it is onolicious). It’s so thick and yummy: it’s like eating pure ice cream through a straw; not watered down by milk or anything. I’m a fan of ordering mine without whipped cream, but that’s just because I love me my ice cream shake! I’m getting hungry just thinking of all of this! My new favorite burger joint.
