I got a summer roll from Olay’s Thai Food at KCC’s farmer market for $ 6. I was extremely disappointed, there was no herbs which would naturally enhance the flavor. The advertised peanut sauce had no texture and did not contain peanuts or peanut butter to add that depth of flavor or texture to it. I would say they added more vinegar than actually peanut butter or crushed peanuts to enhance the flavor or texture. The summer roll itself was a disappointment and did not contain much filling for $ 6. I would describe it as rice paper with cucumbers, carrots, rice noodles, a lot of lettuce, and 2 shrimps cut in half and wrapped tightly. I would not come again for it, I left feeling sick and sad. I expected an authentic summer roll and came out with a cheap version of it.

I bought some food from them yesterday at the Fisherman’s Wharf location. I got a plate with Vegetarian Pad Thai(greasy) and Chicken Pad Thai that was a little bland but ok. I had taken it home so I just added a little salt and it was fine. I also got the summer rolls which I really liked since it had mint in it. Overall 2 ½ stars? I don’t think I’d go back unless I couldn’t find anything else nearby and unfortunately I couldn’t recommend them to a friend.

Delicious, great price, good customer service! It was my first time today at the recommendation of a friend. I went just past 4pm and there were already a few people, and more came as I was waiting. I got the yellow curry which was mild, the kabocha(pumpkin) curry which was a tad spicy, sticky rice, spring rolls, papaya salad and the sticky rice dessert. Everything was delicious!(For only $ 31!!) I probably wouldn’t get the papaya salad again since I like spicy and sour(?) and this was neither. I will definitely be back again! Next time I’ll try the green curry and pad thai! I usually pick up Maile’s after work but the last time everything was greasy, and it’s more pricey than Olay’s, so I’m glad I now have another yummy option.

Beware of this shady business. Make sure you get your debit or credit card back. They may hold onto it and basically steal it. Completely awful customer service. Horrible business.

Olay’s Thai is a vendor at the Kaiser High School Farmer’s Market(Tuesday’s from 4pm-7pm). They make all, except for their curries, fresh so there is usually some waiting involved. Why I go back nearly every week — prices are reasonable and the food is pretty good. My favorite is the basil chicken(spicy!) but everything is worth a try. I’ve had everything!
