Been going to NJ designs for a while now, but FINALLY got the time to write a review. My boyfriend actually has been going to this hair salon for years and introduced me to this place. At the time, I just moved from California to Oahu and searched for a good/​reasonable hair salon to go to. II FINALLY found it here! This salon is very reasonably priced and they do an awesome job! Whenever I don’t know what I want done, Tracy has great suggestions and tips on what my hair would need and a look that would compliment my hair.
It’s a hidden gem and there isn’t a huge sign showing where the salon is located, but I’m sure if you call for an appointment they will help guide you.
There is street parking with meters, so don’t forget to bring your quarters.

I’m a guy. I get my hair cut monthly and was looking for a place that would give me some style (sorry Supercuts) yet not cost me a fortune (sorry Paul Brown).
I was referred by a friend to NJ Designs. Norma (and Tracey) operate a two-​chair salon in downtown that provides me with the style and affordability that I was looking for. Norma is also able to accommodate early evening appointments, which is great for me.
The salon is a bit off the beaten path (backside of Capitol Place fronting Central Intermediate) but once you find it the first time, you’ll know exactly where to go.
Street parking is free in the evenings, if not there is paid public parking in Capitol Place. As with most small salons, appointments are required.
Norma has a great personality, is very friendly and outgoing, and is a great stylist. I’ve been coming here for a year now and am always pleased when I leave.
