I got a Bi Bim Bap carry out, and bit into a staple(as in metal clip for binding paper together) in the food.

Ever since my dealer/supplier retired from making kimchee.(my mom), I’ve been looking for the next best thing. Tried the keeaumoku banchan place, pretty good. Tried old Queens market but that ajumma is gone now. Tried the pre-packacked kine from palama supermarket. The ones made in korea, etc etc. Anyway. this is the best kimchee on island. Better than mom’s. Sorry mom. Eh you retired anyways.

The best kim chee we’ve ever had. The lady who runs it is really nice, and answers questions, gives tips, tells you which season is good for each vegetable. Love it here.

I am a fan of kim chee. I prefer more of the fresh kim chee than the ‘aged’ stuff. I have driven by this place so many times and I finally stopped by. My only regret is that I didn’t stop sooner. All of the kim chee here is very fresh tasting, with clean, crisp flavor. I usually pick up a few kinds while I am here, but one of my favorite things is the bim bim bap. It is really tasty and pretty good for you as well(not that it matters). They use all kinds of vegetables and your choice of meat; over rice. It is a great mix of flavors, and they give you a little chili on the side if you need it spicy. It is also a great combination of hot and cold ingredients and really hard not to dig in right away… even though only take away is available. I definitely recommend trying the food here. 4 stars

I used to make fun of people who watched Korean dramas and thought that Pearls or Yummys was the extent of Korean food. I used to think Korean ahjummas were scary(I’m still a little suspicious). I now watch Korean dramas religiously and have become somewhat of a Korean food connoisseur. I have yet to learn how to make my own kimchee though… I’m glad I’ve found somewhere to buy legit, delish and affordable kim chee. The ahjumma here gave us a little tour of her shop. She even offered samples and offered to open a large container of «water» kim chee to sell us a smaller serving. So nice! Small servings of Kim Chee sell for $ 2 a container, while the large containers are $ 12-$ 20. You can buy regular kimchee, radish kim chee, «water» kim chee, taegu, cod roe, and others. street parking is easy and plentiful and you can pick up some pastries at the bakery next door! Kim Chee and pastries!
