Our waitress was really nice and efficient. You don’t have to be a Club Member to eat here, but you will get extra bennies. They have oxtail soup a couple of days and it’s pretty good(and cheaper than Kapiolani Coffee Shop!). Also, the fried chicken wings were tasty and the beer ice cold with frosted mugs.

I’m am woe to do this, but I must downgrade my review of Moanalua Golf Club. Over the years since I wrote my original review, the management of MGC has made many changes to their menu. From my perspective; none of them were for the better. The first change they made was to replace their awesome breakfast potatoes with tater tots. Why! Why would you do that? After several years and many breakfasts with me and probably others asking them just that, they have bravely stuck with their damn tater tots. Since then, I watched each menu change result in at least one less item I would frequently order being no longer available. The latest change which sent me here to downgrade my review was the termination of the soup of the day which you could choose as your side. This great idea/option is now gone, and so is their 4th star. I still go to my valley restaurant. The people are friendly, and the beer is cold. I can still get a pretty good meal, but not as good as it use to be and not good enough to warrant that 4 star.

Took a very long time for food… order was completely wrong and they forgot ½ of each of my 2 food orders. Will never go here again.

If you live in the Salt Lake Moanalua area and looking for a place to watch football or any sport for that matter check out this place. It’s a simple unpretentious place to just hang and watch the game. Located at the beginning of Moanalua Valley it’s actually a «club» open to outsiders. The place has a lot of history being the first golf course built in Hawaii plus check this out. Amelia Earhardt actually landed her plane on this course. The service has always been great. Yesterday was my third time in a year that I have been there. Kerry the waitress is awesome. She is funny, cute, sweet and quick. She shared some taegu with us that she had bought on her own that was really ono especially with the beer. They sell pitchers of beer at a reasonable price. I think the pitcher of Coors light was $ 6.50. #nice. Let’s talk food. We ordered from the appetizer menu. I love tofu. It’s the whole tub cut up served on a bed of lettuce with all the toppings that I like on the side. Green onion, ginger, sesame oil and shoyu. Simple yes but delish. We also ordered grilled steak with mushroom and onions, edamame, and chicken wings. All were delicious and served promptly. So if you live nearby and want to watch football(yep it’s that time again) in an friendly not crowded simple kind of place with your friends try this place out. The beer is cold and the pupu is ono. I wish they had poke or sashimi available then that would change my rating to 5 stars.

Good place to drink and eat. Great service and prices are reasonable. Pitchers and beer are cheap. I think this would be a great place to pregame before going out with enough food and drinks to fuel the night. I ordered the Roast pork which comes with soup or salad. It was delicious and left satisfied.

My husband and I enjoy the food there. Every once in a while I will stop by to pick up dinner on the way home from work. We especially enjoy the breakfast. Their banana pancakes are the best I’ve had. If you life in the area give it a try you won’t be disappointed. We have enjoyed everything that we have tried. The service is great. Everyone is so nice

I came here for lunch with a friend to watch the pro bowl on Sunday, and come here occasionally for sporting events because it’s close to home, not too crowded, and the service is friendly and prompt. I had the roast pork… pork was a little dry, the gravy was probably powdered, but it wasn’t bad, I would say average, nothing to write home about. It got crowded around 11:30 and I could hear a lot of microwaves going off in the kitchen. Overall the food is about on par with what you get at any golf club, and the place is a good spot for watching the game, low-key. The patrons are all nice and mostly regulars, I will definitely be back again come football season.

This place is meh. I was not impressed. However, I will say I only tried this place once and I only tried one meal. I will try this place for drinks and football so look forward to a forthcoming updated review! My daughter and I showed up around 8:30 on a Sunday morning. Three large parties were just finishing up and we were the only people there. I ordered a pretty basic meal– fried rice with egg. The fried rice was boring. I love friend rice when it is nice and hearty and flavored with the meat it is cooked with. Well, the fried rice on this day was not impressive in any way. The waitress was not very attentive as my cup of water was empty for a while. She seemed busy filling cup up for golf club members who stopped by(which I totally get). Overall: Ambiance– there is none. Food– a tad below average. Service– not much of it.

Yummy breakfast! Fast and friendly service! When I moved to the Moanalua area, I desperately searched for a good place to eat breakfast. My friend suggested I try out this golf club. Since you don’t have to be a member, so I drove right to it! I’ve only been here for breakfast so that is the only thing I can comment on. They have the usual items, fried rice, eggs, corn beef hash, loco moco, etc. All that I have tasted are great! Not too expensive either. My plate was too big for me to finish so my hubby had to help me. The servers are always friendly and my water is always filled to the top. There is also a lot of parking and a lot of seating inside. I never leave disappointed and always leave full! I might try coming back later on in the day. I hear they have a pretty good happy hour!

Also a great place for a Happy Hour! Awesome chicken wings, bar food fare, and pitchers galore… but only good for Happy Hour since the kitchen closes around 7pm…

COMEHERETOEAT!!! Oh yeah, and you can play golf on the side if you want to as well… Okay, so maybe I meant come here to drink. I’ve pretty much only had a couple meals here from my days in high school, but recently we’ve come here for pupus and happy hour! Garlic French Fries 5.25, Wing Dings 8.95, Spinach and Crab Dip 8.95 Gyoza 4.95 Spring rolls(4) 4.95 Off Menu: Tripe, Natto edamame (Honestly I don’t know how much they cost… we get them comp-ed or discounted most of the time…) The atmosphere here is great! Its so relaxed. One of my favorite sandwiches from stopping in here as a kid was the pastrami. Try it out, I’m sure its just as good as ever.

Best breakfast for its price and quality. If youre in the neighborhood, check the clubhouse out. You don’t have to be a member to eat here. They also have fresh, new soup of the day and daily specials. I love their pastrami sandwhich, oxtail soup specials, and everything on the breakfast menu is so good. Yum!!!

I came here to golf and have a meal before my round. Other Unilocalers have raved about MGC menu, but I was less impressed. I was in the mood for hamburger meat but noticed the patty size for their loco moco & hamburger steak was only 4oz – a quarter pounder. By comparison, most other restaurants offer patties in the 6 — 10oz range. For a loco moco or hamburger steak, the patty is the star – main attraction – and 4oz just doesn’t cut it for me. I decided to get their Moanalua breakfast special. The special turned out quite nice and I was pleased with the meal, but overall the eatery doesn’t meet my par. The golf course only has 9 holes so for a full round, you have to play it twice. You play the 2nd go-around from the back tees. The course offers challenges with very drastic elevations and ravine hazards. There are zero bunkers which takes away from being a course that presents a complete set of challenges. The fairway grass leaves a lot to be desired – I compare it to the Makalena muni surface(playground grass with splotches of dirt). Keep in mind that this is one of the oldest courses on the island so the surface matches its age. The greens were well maintained though and fast! The starter treated us like we were his only customers left and gave us excellent customer service. The servers in the restaurant delivered awesome customer service as well. We payed $ 25 for the round on the weekend by signing up on . If not for the great weekend price, I doubt I would choose to play here.

This is Part Two of my «Moanalua-A-Day» neighborhood exploration. Been here several times for happy hour and am always pleased with the friendly service, cheap prices and good food. The ambiance isn’t bad either: «Talk story» with the local clientele, watch the Golf Channel on HD or just zone out on the green, studying swing styles. Breakfast here is a find and very reasonable. I had the Moanalua Special of two pieces French Toast, two eggs and a ham steak: All for $ 6.75. My friend had the Corn Beef Hash & eggs with breakfast potatoes: All for $ 7.25. Add coffee to that and you have a complete breakfast to last your day. Come treat yourself to some valley ambiance! Tip: No need to be a member. But remember: No tank tops! Sleeve t-shirts or polos only. Fun Facts: 1) Built in 1898, the nine-hole Moanalua Golf Club was the first golf course built in Hawai’i. Located near the Honolulu International Airport and downtown Honolulu, legendary aviatrix Amelia Earhart actually once landed her plane on this course. 2) Golfers can get in 18 holes on this layout by playing from two different sets of tees. The huge fairway on the par-4 third hole looks big enough to host a polo match which is exactly what it once did in the days of horse-drawn carriages. 3) The two closing holes, the par-3 No. 8 and the par-4 No. 9, offer an outstanding end to a round. Hitting from an elevated tee, the eighth hole requires pinpoint accuracy. The ninth requires accuracy more than length. A deep stream bed runs across the landing area well short of the green. For those who relish Hawai’i golf’s history, the friendly Moanalua Golf Club provides a glimpse into Oahu’s rich past. #Yelp365: 006⁄365

I love this place it’s not a dace club or a meet market, they do have karaōke now, no mirrored ball hanging from the ceiling, just good pupus and cold beer(they also have a full bar) and it is a good place to watch a game. The employees are friendly and fast to fix a empty beer mug. the customers are friendly too and easy to strike up a conversation with. My wife and I live farther up the Moanalua valley and this is the perfect place to stop on the way home from work or shopping for a pitcher of beer and to watch the sun set. It is right off the freeway and easy to get back on either direction.(making it the perfect place to stop on the way home during rush hour) If you go Mon-Fri tell Adriana we said hi!

I’m not a golfer, but my dad is! Luckily, he passes on his member benefits to me. What does that mean?! FREEFOOD at the clubhouse! Most of the food here is mediocre, with the exception of the garlic fries. The garlic fries are fat, golden brown and smothered with fresh garlic just the way I like them. They’re amazingly crispy, not like other places where you’ll find sad-looking fries that are soggy and smothered in oil. They also serve Arnold Palmers, a mix of lemonade and iced tea which I also LOVE. Other menu items include NY steak with lots of mushrooms and onions, spaghetti w/garlic bread, char siu baby back ribs, furikake mahi and more. All are a hefty sized meal which come with a choice of mac or toss salad and cooked veggies. Tuesday’s Special is always oxtail soup, which I’m looking forward to trying one day. It’s never crowded and the staff is friendly.. Looking forward to trying something new next month.

What a great little place to have right down the street on my way home. A very local friendly, pupu heavy, green turf carpet kinda place. Beers are cold, relatively inexpensive and the kalbi pupu is as good as anywhere. Best thing is they smile when I come in, ask how come no see for so long, and leave me alone to complete my day’s end computer duties. Love this place. Come try… an easy off the freeway by Kaiser hospital and easy back on. Come on… help support my neighborhood watering hole. Oh yah… closes at 6:30pm. Oh well, so do I.

9 hole members course located near Kaiser Hospital. Relatively short in length but challenging greens and layout. No tee times here. Members are served on a first come first served basis. Clubhouse is great with friendly service and good local food.
