A nice Korean restaurant in the heart of waikiki. i went for the second time and ordered intestine pot soup to share with a friend and was too full to finish the whole thing. the interior is decent and the soup was delicious. i think its kind of expensive but it is in waikiki. recommend if you want something authentic!

I lived in South Korea, in the Sinchon neighborhood, and this food compares, if not exceeds the food I had in Korea. The bulgogi is the best I have ever had and all of the side dishes the team brings out, really make you feel like you’re back in Korea and not in O’ahu. I would also recommend the bimbubop with bulgogi — fabulous. I cannot say it enough, this place is amazing. Also get the soju, it comes in w bowel.

When I first came to Hawaii, I brought my husband here because I was craving Korean food. I was pretty happy with the food here. My husband got Kalbi, but I ended up having to cut it up for him, cause I baby him like that… and the server gave me scissors to cut up his meat. I guess she knew what I was doing(it’s a Korean thing). I believe I ordered Kimchi soup and had them put in extra dubu(tofu) and it was pretty good. I honestly can’t remember as much because it’s been 2 years, but it was pretty good to me. Parking: We did not have a car at the time and were staying downtown, so I don’t know? Service: Great service Bathroom: They had one. Food: Pretty good Price: I thought that it was pretty pricey here, but that was because I had first gotten to Hawaii. Now I think it may have been normal prices for downtown Hawaii. I believe we paid around $ 60ish for 2 people. I loved that it seemed authentic in here. I have been to many Korean places here in Hawaii, that just don’t seem authentic Korean to me. Overall, I need to come back here when I go downtown… I completely forgot about this place, cause I have terrible memory!

These folks are the best! Even though they had the resturant booked out for a private event they let us sit down and eat, and Im so happy they did. We are big fans of Korean food and have had it literally all over the world including Korea. The portions are good, and we will defiantly be coming back.

My husbands family loves this place. I wanted to love it too but it did not meet my standards for Korean food. It’s good but I will continue to search for the best Korean restaurant in Honolulu. The décor is dizzy and borderline messy. I would have appreciated it more if they went more of a traditional Korean décor. Another thing I wish they kept in tradition, this is totally random but it really bothered me that the servers were saying welcome in Japanese instead of Korean… Why?! This is a Korean restaurant. I was perplexed. The menu selection was ok. My husband got the bbq combo and I ordered soft tofu soup. The bbq was your standard plate lunch style. It had Kalbi, teriyaki chicken, meat Jun and had fried dumplings. My tofu came without an option of mild, med, hot spice level or even an option to opt out of seafood. The Bachan(side dishes) were decent but nothing extraordinary. The service was really unfriendly and I had a hard time trying to get a refill for water and get the check.

If you are looking for solid Korean food in Waikiki, this is it. It’s really hard to find comfort food in Waikiki as most restaurants are tourist traps or absolute dingy alley-way hole in the walls. This was one of those until they moved about a year ago from their location in the International Market Food Court. The restaurant has most items you would expect in a comprehensive Korean restaurant including Korean BBQ. I find that their standouts are their Dolsot bibimbap and their Japchae, which has a hint of sesame and pepper in the oil they use. Their other dishes are very good as well. I’ve tried several of their stews and they are all delicious. Their portions are a bit on the smaller size and their prices are about 1.5x higher compared to other comparable restaurants outside of Waikiki. I found their service was friendly and courteous. Another downfall is that they do not have a parking lot of their own, so you would either have to gamble for street parking or go with pay parking. Overall, The food and service is very good, but there are other better Korean restaurants outside of Waikiki. Thus I would come here if I happen to already be in Waikiki, but not somewhere I would go out of my way for:

Good non-pretentious Korean restaurant with authentic cuisine. Portions were large and appetizers were fresh. Service could be better — the staff didn’t seem too happy to be there. Interesting wall décor. Don’t go here for a romantic date.

After doing a event at Waikiki me and my family decided to try out this place. Located across one of the Aqua hotel near the old International Place. The food is ono, but a bit pricey. Menu offers Yakiniku, soup, and regular plates. Service needs a little help. We had a party of 5 and was only given 3 menus. Like really? Do you know how to count? Then, after receiving our food… the waitress didn’t come back. We had to ask for our checks. I think if the service was better, I would give 5 stars.

I lived in the states for 20 years now and am always… Always hunt for good Korean restaurants. I didn’t expect to like this place so much because I am usually disappointed. Most of the times except for this time! I had the spicy tofu soup and my hubby had the beef fried rice. The food was flavorful and generously portioned. Banchan — Korean side dishes were really good and they give you plenty. I wish I can take this place with me wherever I move. I want to thank you for the owner, cooks(especially cooks!!!) and staff for providing such a good experience. It was such a pleasure to fix the Korean food craving for me!!! If you are a Korean you know what I mean.

Actually this place surprised me, I really was not expecting to find authentic jjambbong in Waikiki but this place delivered! My soup had the right ratio of seafood, noodles and vegetables(OK may have been a tad greasy, perfect hangover cure), it just needed to be a bit more spicy. I took my food to go so I can’t really comment much on the service. From what I saw it’s your standard Korean Restaurant service, you know… very matter of fact, not super friendly yet efficient. I noticed most dinners seemed to be part of a Korean tour group or something along those lines and seemed to be enjoying their food.

Mikawon is located off Kuhio Ave and Nahua St. Marukame Udon is on the same block if you need to locate this restaurant with an easy to find«landmark.» There is no private lot to park in so look for street parking or pay to park in a garage/lot. The restaurant doesn’t look too big from the outside but they actually can fit many large groups inside. Their walls are decorated with artwork from their customers. There are no vents hanging from the ceilings over any of the yakiniku grills which is nice. It makes the room look larger without obstruction of view. I personally felt that the service was a notch below average. Just because they are new and we had a group of 8, I called in to make reservations a couple weeks in advance. It was very difficult to do because the person barely spoke any English. We arrived about 10 – 15 minutes before our reservation and they seated us. The other tables with reservations were all set up nicely with banchan but the groups didn’t arrive for at least 30 minutes after we were seated. We had two empty tables and they hustled to bring us utensils, water and menus. Our banchan arrived right before the food did. It took awhile to even get water refills initially. Not impressed so far… We decided to do yakiniku and order cooked dishes because we were all hungry after breaking out of The Hatch at Breakout Waikiki. There wasn’t anything special about the food and it was just average Korean food. You get one bowl of rice per meat order versus everyone getting a bowl of rice. We ordered 6 types of meat to yakiniku, bulgogi already cooked, yukhoe, kimchee fritter and fried mandoo. The yukhoe was the tastiest item we ordered. Best part of the meal was when the check came, they manually calculated 15% and 18% tip then wrote it down on a scratch piece of paper. Overall, 2.5 stars for food, service and experience.

The food was very good, the staffs were very friendly and fast. We ordered each person a soup and 2 of them were small while 2 others were big. We kinda have a hard time finish the soup. The side dishes are all very yummy. The only down side is that this place is pricey plus the mandatory tips so it was unexpected.

Very expensive. They have increased their prices by about 50 per cent. Food is OK. The waitress then asked us if she could include her tip in the bill. Very greedy. Seems they are not interested in serving you good food. They just want your money. I will not go again

First of all, Unilocal map is off a bit. This place is on the side of Nahua street. Food is delicious! We ordered tofu soup and marinated beef. Both are great. Side dishes are delicious too. Service is great too. This is the best food we had in Hawaii!

I’m glad to find this little Korean food place no waiting line. Everywhere in Waikiki, if it is good, not too pricey, it is packed and I hate crowd and I hate waiting. So this place turned to be great for me. We had a soup and a hot-stone bibimbap. I like the taste, a lot of banchan as well. A little pricey compared to my LA Korean food. About $ 15 – 16 per dish on average. But here is Waikiki, everything is over-priced. At least this place serves decent food.

Great Service. Good food. Thumbs up! We ordered the BBQ lunch specials. The quality was comparable to more expensive Korean Restaurants I’ve been to. The side dishes were one of the best Ive had and it has neverending refill as long as you ask nicely. Ambience: Typical Korean hole-in-a-wall kinda establishment. Stay away from the restroom though, it’s pretty gross. That’s my only complain about this place. Service: our waitress was friendly and efficient. Great service with a smile. I will definitely return to this restaurant the next time Im in Honolulu.
