I’m sad to say, but my love for Mariposa has declined over the years. I’m only in Hawai’i once to twice a year, and I made the mistake of having dinner here on one of the few nights that I was home. We walked in for dinner at about 5pm, so there was no wait. We were seated on the lanai overlooking Ala Moana Beach, which was a great view as always. Upon looking at the menu, I noticed that we had been giving the prix fixe menus. I politely asked the server for the actual dinner menus, and he said that he had given them to us. When I had explained that these were only the prix fixe menus, he said that’s what they were serving that night. I had to wait for another server to come by to again ask for the dinner menus and he apologized for the mix up and gave us the correct menus. We ordered the braised pork belly and seared scallops appetizer, the lamb entrée, and the sea scallops and sweet potato gnocchi. To be honest, everything we ordered was extremely underwhelming. The scallops were overcooked and as a result were dry and rubbery. The lamb was also overcooked and the flavor wasn’t there. Sadly, the only thing that my family and I enjoyed about this dinner were the popovers with guava butter and our Mariposa punch drinks. Don’t think we’ll be back anytime soon.

Wifey insists we had eaten here before, but I don’t think so, because I could not find a Unilocal review. I think we have stopped by, but in the past the wait was too long, and I was too impatient to walk around«Needless Markup» pretending I could actually afford to buy any of the clothes or baubles in the store. However, this time we got there on a Sunday right when they opened… yes! I had a roast beef sandwich with sweet potato fries, and the sandwich was delicious with very nice bread and dipping sauce. The popover was a nice touch, although I’m more of a sourdough bread guy, perhaps due to my decade living in San Francisco. I wondered about the consommé in the little cup, and I was actually quite impressed with the taste, as were the other members of my family, including my pre-teen daughter and teenage son. The service was attentive, if a bit«stiff.» Sitting out on the lanai, we enjoyed the view of Ala Moana Park. Yes, it was pricey, but once in awhile it’s nice to splurge. And this time I struck a home run on the family satisfaction scale, which is a nice bonus.

Went to Mariposa with my mom and some of her good friends. They recommended the place and said it was super good. Putting their thoughts aside, I went here with an open mind. Came a little after mall hours and parked on the opposite of the mall to find that we had no way of getting in through the mall as Nordstrom was already closed. Trekked outside and around the parking lot to find the outside entrance. Very nice design and a private elevator welcomed you into the restaurant. Just by looking around you can tell it is a rather upscale experience and even more so after taking a look at the menu prices. The service was great as the waiters attempted to cater to your every need but when it came to the food, I found the main entrée lacking in flavor. I ordered the Dungeness Crab Chitarra and the soup of the day, a green curry tasting soup with a tiger shrimp in the middle. The soup was rather tasty and their bread was also pretty good(personal sized and very fluffy). However, when it came to the main entrée, I felt it lacked in any type of seasoning as well as flavor. The texture was great as it had the crab which had no shells and the pasta was cooked very well. The blending of the ingredients did not do it for me though and the entrée did not have enough sauce for me either. I’d give the place another try but if I have to dish out another $ 30+ for an entrée that lacks in flavor, I’d rather dine elsewhere.

The food at Mariposa is delicious. I love their strawberry poppers/tea and lobster club. But the service is appalling. My mom asked for ranch sauce. Our waiter, Anthony, replied… «No, it’s not a fast food restaurant.» We were SO insulted! After speaking with the manager, she gave us her card with an offer for 2 complimentary desserts in the future. We still haven’t gone back for them…

I’ve dined here, for lunch and dinner, many times. We walked in for lunch at 11:30 with no reservations. I was expecting the restaurant to be full, and anticipated a wait, however, the restaurant was only ½ full on a Friday… We were seated pretty quickly. Yesterday’s lunch experience has left such a horrible taste in my mouth, I don’t think I will be back. The good: –The pop overs and strawberry butter and chicken connsome are delicious! The bad: — Service is TERRIBLE!!! — our server came to our table 3 times, 1) to take our order(after we had been sitting there for a while) 2) passed by and mentioned our food was going to take a little longer 3) after I flagged him down to give us our check — our water was not refilled the entire time we were there(Almost an hour and a half) — food took a llllllooooooonnnnnnggggg time to come out. –the bottom of my $ 20 sandwich was completely wet and soggy when they dropped it at my table — the manager needs to be retrained I actually told the server that he gave us crappy service. And I called the manager to let her know that the service was terrible. She was pretty rude on the phone and wanted my phone number so she could talk to the server and call me back to tell me why he gave bad service. I don’t care why, I just thought as the manager, she might like to know what’s happening in her restaurant so she can fix it… Based on my experience yesterday, I’m thinking the level of service has gone down and people aren’t willing to pay those prices for bad service. Will I be back? Probably not!!!

So I definitely don’t have a lot of money in the bank and I really only come here when I’m invited LOL. I have a hard time spending $ 20+ on lunch but I love coming here specifically for the lobster club sandwich. With all the construction at Ala Moana lately, I don’t come here as often as I used to. Neiman Marcus does have valet parking but I hate driving through the maze of Ala Moana to get to that side. Mariposa is located in the Candy section — how tempting! It’s nice because there is a bathroom and the elevators near by. Btw to the mamas and dadas out there, there is a very nice changing station that is separate from the bathroom. They take reservations and we didn’t make any this year. Next year we know. The wait staff is pretty friendly. I love the nonstop popover service. I think that’s what they are called. The fluffy bread/pastry with the strawberry spread — nom nom nom!!! It’s so Ono and light you can keep eating them! They also have the broth that comes in the tiny teacup. To my lobster club… I love it. The lobster is shredded with a few clumps. It comes with avocado and I get it with fries. They have sweet potato fries too if you ask. They do have high chairs and they ask you to park your stroller on the side, there is not a lot of room between tables. The only downside is the price but you are paying for a dining experience I think. On a side note, we did order my son the most expensive Mac and cheese($ 16). While it was not life changing, it was an ok size portion and came with a drink and a sundae. Too bad he’s only 1 and I was«forced» to enjoy his ice cream. Haha.

Happy Administrative Professional’s day! Came here with staff to celebrate this special day. We were seated outside with full view of Ala Moana beach park and the harbor area… Beautiful! I definitely suggest sitting outside to catch the wonderful Honolulu sunset. The servers were very polite, approachable and very knowledgeable about the entire menu. It was my first time here, so you can imagine my initial question: «What’s good here?» The server suggested a few of his personal favorites which included the lobster pasta and the New York steak. He explained the ingredients that were put into each dish and had so much enthusiasm for the dishes that they were offering! Loved it! I went with the lobster pasta and I do NOT regret it… The lobster was cooked perfectly and the squid ink pasta had the right amount of chewiness that I prefer. I also ordered their strawberry basil martini… Tasted amazing, however I wasn’t a fan of having ice cubes sitting in the glass… Every time I would try to sip on my drink, there would be an ice cube in the way which made me suck on the ice instead of the yummy martini. For dessert, I ordered their chocolate cake from their«special» menu… It was so rich and definitely a chocolate lover’s dream come true. I love chocolate, but I was unable to take more than 3 bites of the cake because I was full from my pasta! Overall, the venue is beautiful(inside and out)… Service is great… The food is unique and changes up every once a while, which gives me an excuse to come back and try their other items!

Mariposa is a reliable restaurant for lunch and a great place to host a shower or special occasion. They also offer an afternoon tea on Sundays if you need a break from shopping at the mall. Most recently, I dined at the Neiman Marcus third floor restaurant for dinner. I’m not a big fan of the popovers so I really enjoyed their monkeybread served with a strawberry butter. Mariposa has a great wine list, but I started with a featured cocktail because it sounded too good to pass up. I like that there are several choices on the kids menu, but lamented that their wasn’t a steak choice. It’s pretty much pizza, hamburger and mac and cheese. It’d be nice if their was a more mature choice for the older kids. Mariposa prints the calorie content on all the menu items which makes ordering difficult for me because while I want to order the wagyu burger, consuming over 1,000 calories just on my entrée makes me feel guilty. So, I start with a cup of the low calorie mariposa corn chowder which is delicious as always. I also have the lobster that is served with squid ink pasta that I sub with a different pasta. Unfortunately, I didn’t care for it at all. I thought the lobster pieces were junk. As for the rest of the table: the kids burger was good; kids cheese pizza was not so good; the pork chop was very dry; and the grilled beef tenderloin was excellent. For dessert, the apple pie trio was pretty yummy. Our server was great! He was very attentive and helpful.

Came here tonight for a Duckhorn wine tasting event. Expected to only have cheese and crackers for the food, but they had a whole buffet line of appetizers consisting of cheese, deli meats, pasta salad, salmon, lamb chops, risotto and everything that goes well with wine. Everything including the wine of course, was worth more than the $ 45 we paid for. The service was excellent as well, constantly checking up on us to see if we were ok.

Mariposa is a casual yet upper-scale feeling restaurant. They are located on the third floor inside of Neiman Marcus at Alamoana Center. There are a couple ways to enter, through the inside of Neiman Marcus(up the escalators or elevator) or there is a private elevator located on the exterior side of the mall(facing the water). I was able to make a reservation through OpenTable for dinner on the same day. We went as a party for 3 on a Tuesday evening at 5:45 pm. After checking in, the hostess led us to the table, and noticing that there was an elderly relative with us, she sat us in a round table with booth seating. She said it would be more comfortable and usually older people like to request this type of seating, plus there was a place to put her walker(I was amazing by the service right away). The ambiance is very island/tropical and you can look over magic island and the ocean. There are both indoor and outdoor seating. After we were seated, we were given the menus, our waters were filled and we were told the specialties. After ordering, they came around with the monkey bread and strawberry butter. The bread was still warm and I love how it breaks apart in clean pieces. I ordered the Lobster Linguine for $ 30. It came with lobster(of course), squid ink pasta, spinach, golden tomatoes and a few other additions. Although it was quite buttery, I found it very light and easy to eat. The pasta was very good, and the lobster pieces were claws. I found myself finishing off the plate by eating all of the remaining tomato pieces(it was very good). This dish was quite pricey, but I guess what can you expect when there’s lobster in it. This entrée was the average price of all the entrees. Overall, the service was spectacular, the waiter was very attentive and friendly, the hostess made us feel welcomed, and I believe even the manager stopped by and asked how we were enjoying our meal. The total for dinner was slightly over $ 100 not including tip. Ultimately the three of us really enjoyed our meals and the service and ambiance. We would definitely come back, especially for their lunch popovers!

It’s been a very long time since I’ve dined here. As like in the past, today’s visit was for a leisurely relaxing quiet lunch with a dear friend. The many positives I had remembered from before still remain consistent such as the clean and spacious surroundings, courteous and attentive staff, as well as the relaxed atmosphere of this upscale yet casual eatery. For our choices this afternoon, my friend selected the crab salad for $ 29 while I opted for the chicken spinach salad for $ 24. Both salads were quite refreshing and well composed – all except for the pinch of micro greens garnishing my friend’s dish which was wilted and partially rotten. Although complimentary popovers and consommé were graciously offered to us, we declined due to our dietary restrictions. All in all, it was an enjoyable afternoon reconnecting with a wonderful friend. However, because of the price to portion ratio, I’ve concluded this is a restaurant reserved more for special occasions rather than regular get togethers. A word of thanks to Jenny L., Lori I., Emi H., Eric Robert R., Trish N., Kathy A. and Fran C. for their thoughtful write ups.

Tonight was the first time I’ve been here and seeing the average rating on Mariposa, as well as the price range, I was pretty excited to be dining here. I was actually forced against my will to come out tonight but after looking up this place I thought it wouldn’t be so bad. First off the monkey bread and the strawberry butter was pretty good. Normally i never eat the bread and butter given to us but this wasn’t all that bad. The bread wasn’t warm, it wasn’t even soft it was more on the dry side but that strawberry butter saved it. It just melted in my mouth. I got the salmon with risotto and it was really good. I really like how the skin was still crispy even though I saved it for last. Also I like lemony flavors so it was a delicious entrée. The special today was ahi with tiger shrimp and let me just say, for a special it shouldn’t have been bland and dry. So dry it took 3 people to even finish it because no one really wanted it. Lastly I wish they had a better dessert menu. I was craving something sweet to finish up but didn’t get dessert here. Here’s why I gave it 1 star. For such and expensive and high end restaurant you have very very crappy service. Our server, looked like she’s had a bad day and just wants to flip some tables. I don’t know her name because she didn’t introduce herself, come to think of it. She didn’t even say hi. She just came up to us after we finished our bread and said«any questions on the menu?». We order our food and she just left. Umm ok do you not like us? We then got our food and she didn’t even come to check up on us. By this time my sister in laws and I were talking about how bad she was. We have worked in the food industry and service is very important… We knew that why doesn’t she? When we’re just about done with our food she comes up and says«how’s the food?»… Kinda late don’t you think? We’re about done. Then she puts the dessert menu down and says«I’ll leave this here» and walks off again. She just disappears for the most of the night each time and had the worst attitude ever. I mean we can tell you don’t wanna be here. It’s such an expensive place and with what we’re paying we were expecting excellence. I wanted to give at least 2 stars but no matter how good the food was, it wasn’t good enough to save this place for me. Our server was blonde with shoulder length hair, I’m gonna say age is about 50ish… I’m never coming back again. We paid a lot of money for some good food and our conversation was mainly about the shitty service we had gotten. I’d much rather go somewhere cheap and get happy servers who’d want to be there… Even if they’re faking it.

I had family visiting from California this past week, and yesterday we got da ohana together for a dinner… the Mariposa in the Neiman Marcus was the place of choice. I must say I really enjoyed the elegant casual atmosphere of the Mariposa as the restaurant was an open air restaurant with revolving fans in the high ceilings. They have indoor, as well as outdoor lanai seating within the restaurant. As we got seated, menu & waters were dropped off instantaneously, then a busboy came by to drop off some bread. I was looking forward to the«Popovers» only to find out they stop serving that around 4:00PM, and for dinner they switch over to a «Monkey» bread. The bread itself was really buttery and dense… a total opposite from the«Popover». I gotta tell you the«Monkey» bread was really delicious, so you know what that means… Really buttery = Really fattening! Lol! Upon scanning the menu I decided to get the«Chef Features» which was a Pan Seared Scottish Steel-Head Salmon with Cherry Tomato & Baby Shrimp Risotto, Grilled Artichoke, in a truffle butter sauce($ 34.00). I also ordered the Mariposa Salad which came with mixed baby greens, shaved fennel, sweet onions, vine ripe tomatoes, with a white balsamic vinaigrette dressing($ 14.00). My gf ordered a Seared Sea Scallops with Okinawan Sweet Potato Gnocchi, Kale, Pancetta, Oyster Mushrooms, Fall Squash Bisque($ 32.00). She also ordered a delicious Kahuku Corn Chowder too($ 11.00). What can I say about the grub? I really enjoyed my salad… as the salad dress was really light & tasty. As for my entrée, I loved the way they did the Salmon, as I liked the crispy skin on the salmon. I didn’t care too much for the Risotto in the truffle butter sauce, but I guess it’s just my personal taste. As for the Artichoke served with the meal… it was my first time eating that, and I really didn’t care for it either… call me weird, but thrown a fried chicken breast in front of me, and that thing will be destroyed it seconds! Lol! I took a little sample of the gf’s Corn Chowder, which was delicious!!! I wished I ordered this soup over my salad… but I know I should eat more greens anyways. As for her Scallops? Ummmmmm, the scallop dish had huge meaty scallops. I tried a small piece of my gf’s scallop and it was yummy too! Service was excellent, as water & other drinks were refilled constantly without ever having to ask. Food came out quickly after placing our order. Note: for parties over 6 adults, a 20% service charge will be added automatically. Overall a pleasant dining experience, my only complaint is the 20% service charge if you have more than 6 adults(our party had 7 adults), which was a turn off for me. The customer should have the option in deciding the tip, and I do understand if the party was larger like 10 or more people, but the«6 adult» policy really bites!

I’ve been here a couple of times for lunch now and one of my favorite things about it is the ambience. I got seated outside on the lanai on both occasions and it really is calming out there with the beautiful view of Ala Moana Beach park. Of course during lunch time it can be a bit hot/bright outside but they pull down the shades to keep it cool on the lanai. I also loved the décor inside the restaurant including the ceiling fans and the painting against the wall of hula dancers. I’ve attached a pic! During my last visit here with the hubby, we got the crab salad, lobster club, and roast beef sammie. I loved the crab salad and the dressing too. They dressed it very lightly and they gave us extra dressing on the side to add to our salad. I also loved the lobster club. The sandwich was pretty thick because of all the layers but it was super delicious and filled with nice chunks of lobster. The prime rib sammie was good too, but I preferred the lobster club over this one. My hubby, on the other hand, liked the roast beef sammie better though(he’s more of a meat guy). Our sammies also came with fries so we ordered half sweet potatoes and half seasoned fries. Both were good but I always prefer sweet potato fries… they’re so ono and addicting! On a side note, during my last visit here last weekend, I was recovering from a hangover. I was craving a soup but none of the soups interested me. Fortunately, they served a complimentary chicken consommé which was absolutely perfect. It was so light yet flavorful, and totally hit the spot. Our server was also nice enough to bring me an extra cup! :) That in itself probably helped cure my hangover by 75%! Woo hoo! I must admit, this place is a bit pricey. For instance, last weekend for lunch for the two of us, we had the salad and two sammies(no drinks but iced water), and our total was $ 80 something(including tip). We normally don’t spend that much for a regular lunch but the hubby hadn’t been here before so we decided to check it out. This is not the type of place that we would generally frequent but it’s a nice place to splurge once in a while especially on a beautiful day.

I tried the Prix Fixe Menu for dinner tonight. Price: $ 70, plus $ 30 Wine Pairing. Five courses, small portions. I thought that it would be too much for me, but with a little help from my boyfriend, I was able to finish it. The courses were: **1. BBQ Tiger Prawns: with avocado, onions and citrus beet gazpacho. Yum! Shrimp was cooked to perfection, sauce was tasty. **2. Burrata and Kale-Honey Pesto: with grilled ciabatta and heirloom cherry tomatoes. Reminded me of Caprese salad. Didn’t know what Burrata was so googled it. Learned that it’s Italian cheese made from mozzarella and cream. This dish was different… tasty but just okay. **3. Gorgonzola and Walnut Ravioli: with duck confit, caponata, brown butter sauce. It was okay, I didn’t know what I was eating but the ravioli itself was delicious. **4. Seared Sea Scallops: with Okinawan sweet potato gnocchi, kale, pancetta, oyster mushrooms, butternut squash bisque. Delicious! Scallops were cooked perfectly, loved the sweet potato gnocchi. Nice presentation as well. Thumbs up! **5. Dessert: A light cake topped with assorted fruits. It was not rich, and the fruits were very sweet. Nice last course to our dinner. The only thing I’m sad about is that when we dine here for dinner instead of lunch, we don’t get Mariposa’s famous popovers! However, the dinner bread and spread were also very good, but not popover-status-good. Service was excellent! Another great meal… Mariposa never disappoints.

Always great ambience and service. My Beet Tower was a bit lacking in. well…beets. As one friend put it, it stood more like a two-story walk-up than a tower. Dressing was ok, on the lighter side. Pecans were a tad hard and bitter. For $ 16.50 it does not near repeating. The Kahuku Corn Chowder is always my fail-safe choice and never disappoints. Creamy and slightly sweet, ordered the bowl and it filled me up. Monkey bread was the saving grace of my meal here this evening. Not much of a bread enthusiast but this was divine and served with a light, just sweet enough strawberry butter.

I just had brunch here for the first time with a group of girl friends. We were the first reservation so we didn’t wait for anything. Keoni was our server and was excellent from the get go, always filling our water and seeing if we were doing great with everything without being over bearing. The food was delicious. The complimentary popovers were so light with the yummy strawberry butter. I had the salmon omelet which was a special and it was delicious. We were celebrating a girlfriends birthday and Keoni brought us out complimentary dessert… Not just for our girlfriend but for our whole table with 3 various types. So ono. He really was a great server! We had a great time!

Ordered the Boursin as in cheese sandwich and there was a trace of cheese barely identifiable. Plenty of veggies which were fresh. Just give the sandwich a different name such as greens in a bun. Others ordered the roast beef sandwich and didn’t rave much about it either. The view is nice, the service superb. It beats the mall’s loud food court but that’s about it.

Very disappointing. We always had a Christmas lunch here for the last 5 years, but this time was very disappointing. Somebody told me that they recently have changed stuffs or managements. I don’t know that was the reason why we could not enjoy it… Anyway this is what I have to say: First, I ordered a crab salad that should have come with avocado, and other veggies, but they missed or skipped purposefully Avocado. It came with the crab meet, a one piece of sliced radish, a few pieces of tomatoes and the rest was full of the shredded lettuce(you can see it in the pictures). NO avocado!!! It is $ 28 salad, tooooooo much money for that. The amount was generous, but it was because of the amount of the shredded lettuce. I did not have the chance to claim that as the waiter never came around. In fact, not only that, the service was nothing like pricey restaurant, like«old Mariposa», but more like cheap restaurant. They never greeted nor offered for today’s special like before. They never came to take an order, removed the dishes or offered deserts. We have to physically went to grab them each time to do all that. We were group of 10, everybody felt and said the same that they would not be coming back here. The taste of their dishes changed. I was sure there were menus that could make us happy, but all the dishes we had, was nothing special, not like the last years… Also the deserts were way too sweet with a ton of sugar that I really regret I even tasted… The waiter served a tiny small spoon to eat the apple pie and pumpkin pie, we had to ask a fork as it was impossible to dig in. Of cause, they never asked for coffee at the time of deserts, but did ask when we asking for a check. :( I don’t think so… I don’t mean that they treated us bad or made us feel bad, but the quality of the service and the taste of the food were very poor for the price. I do not think I would pay for that much money to come here. I would have a ton of choice out there. I hope, one day to see their service/food would come back like«old mariposa» so that I can visit here to enjoy their food. They pre-charged a tip in the receipt. I guess that is the reason why they don’t care for good service. We are not coming back for the business or private for a long time until they change.

Service was great, Oliver was our server. Very attentive and sweet. The food was good, the seasoned French fries were bomb! The only thing was the bread they gave us to start off with wasn’t the best. It tasted like cream puff but without the cream in it. If I love fish the ahi tuna melt is delicious !

I went for dinner during restaurant week. Unfortunately the actual restaurant week menu was different from the one online. No biggie — there were other things to try. When we arrived, we were confused why majority of the dining room as empty. Half an hour in, a party arrived and filled the entire inside dining room — it was LOUD. Chalk it up to bad luck. Had a lemongrass cocktail that was strong and on point. The squid ink pasta was okay. It came with a sauce with saffron and seafood. It was okay, but not as delicious as it looked on paper. We also shared dessert — banana split, which was not described on the menu. It was deconstructed, so unexpected. Again, not bad, but just okay. Best part of the meal was the monkey bread served prior to the meal. Overall, awesome views with lots of Ala Moana parking. As a tip, there are two entrances to the restaurant — outside entrance and the store entrance. The store entrance closes when the mall does, so if you go for dinner park near the outside entrance(makai side of Ala Moana Center — facing Ala Moana Blvd.)

Went here for restaurant week dinner menu. The bread they serve before your meal is TODIEFOR. Its actually so good that you really don’t need the fabulous strawberry butter that they serve with it. The RR week dinner was extremely good for $ 50. You get bang for your buck here. For the $ 50, you get a nice smoked salmon appetizer with potato crisps, main course of either fish or steak and a dessert. Service was a little off the night we dined. I think it may be due to the fact that the main dining room was closed for a big private event and individual diners were seated on the lanai. I’m glad it was a nice comfortable evening, because if it wasn’t I’d be a little put off by that. I like to have a choice of sitting outside or inside. A bit of warning, really pay attention to the wine menu. I ordered what I thought was a $ 45 bottle of red wine, but was charged $ 90. In very small print next to the bottles, some have 350ml and other 750ml. Its very deceiving so really pay attention to that. Who buys half a bottle of wine, anyhow? Please.

Marioposa… nice restaurant, nice staff. But, the food and price… not so nice. Dined here a number of times, and each time, I am never impressed by the food. The food is either bland or the flavors just don’t mesh well together. Also, the dishes are small and overpriced. Their pop-overs(with strawberry butter) and consommé, however, make the visit worth it!

Mariposa has it all: an amazing view, attentive service, relaxed atmosphere and great ambiance. The food was simple but excellent. I really enjoyed the complimentary tiny«teacups» of warm chicken broth and excellent warm popovers with whipped strawberry butter that just melts in your mouth! I ordered one of their lunch specials, the delicious Opakapaka(Hawaiian pink snapper) with asparagus & crab risotto in a light vinaigrette sauce and it was cooked to perfection. Obviously it’s not a place you would go to all the time but for a special occasion, it’s fine. Plus, you can’t beat the view of Ala Moana beach park if you are seated outdoors or if indoors by the window.

Mariposa is a great place to have quality food with a great view. We made a reservation on a Monday, but it was not necessary because it was not busy. Fresh hot bread smelled sweet and delicious, and very difficult to pass on. I am glad my hubby enjoyed my bread for me. I heard it was very good. The beet tower was a set of four slices of beets towered on top of each other, with goat cheese dressing. There are also dried cranberries and sweet walnuts. It was a nice little dinner.

The lanai view is great, but during the humid, sweltering days, the inside seating is much preferred. Love the popovers with strawberry butter and chicken consommé. The service is usually great, and the servers try their best to accommodate special requests. On our last visit we had the quinoa-coated scallops with pasta, poke salad and crab salad with hearts of palm. All dishes were good, although the poke needed a bit more seasoning. Presentation was beautiful. My dad missed the simpler pan-seared scallops with squid ink pasta, which complemented and highlighted the scallops better. All in all, Mariposa provides a soothing atmosphere in which to enjoy a decadent meal.

Came here for the first time with a friend I used to work with so we could catch up over lunch. Just the fact that it’s located inside Neiman Marcus makes it feel fancy! I love that we were able to make reservations online. We were seated right when we got there. The complimentary bread puffs are delicious they are like borderline dessert! Lol. Our waiter was nice but kind of weird cuz he seemed to have trouble refilling my ice tea…(He poured directly onto the pineapple causing it to spill!?? I thought it was awkward and just let it go lol). My friend recommended the lobster club but I wasn’t amazed by it. There was a certain taste that was absolutely disgusting! I pulled out some red floppy thing and the sandwich was then enjoyable. I really liked the sweet potato fries that came with the sandwich! I could probably eat a whole plate of those fries. My friend got a salad and she said it was nice. Both of us having architecture/engineering backgrounds, we were distracted by the huge spinning fans hanging from the ceiling! It’s a nice attempt at fancy dining but I just think it’s awkward and distracting lol. Poor approach to a tropical ambience just my opinion hahahah… I was also kind of sad we weren’t offered a seat outside as I would have liked the scenery. Despite all that, I still give it a 4 star and would come back to try something else from the menu!

This is one of my favorite places for lunch. I have brought numerous customers and work associates here for the food, atmosphere and view. It’s a place where people are just so impressed with the view that no matter what else happens during lunch or dinner it will be forgotten. Came here the other day with my daughter in law so I could actually take pictures of the food without shocking anyone. Too much fun! It was a beautiful sunny Saturday, dropped the car at the valet and spent a couple of hours just talking and enjoying her company. Started with the Peach Bellini, always my choice here. Rob ordered the ice tea with Lemon Sorbet in it. The service is exceptional and in addition to the drinks we ordered, water and their signature popovers with raspberry butter were on the table before we were even asked what we would like for lunch. Rob ordered the French Dip Sandwich with Sweet Potatoe Fries. Didn’t try her sandwich but I did imbibe in the fries? Delicious! I went for the Chilled Crab Salad, what a treat. Bib lettuce, hearts of palm, avocado, green onions all chopped and tossed with a lovely green goddess dressing and loaded with delicate pieces of sweet crab. I wished it was a bottomless salad, it was terrific. I’ve always wondered if your popovers keep disappearing how many times they would continue to replace them, I’m thinking of bringing a large purse. He he! Mariposa has a number of desert choices but we decided to split the bread pudding and it did not disappoint. Espresso and a Mocha Coffee and we were in a food coma. There is no rush here, if you are talking over coffee they don’t rush you with the check.

Came here for a belated Mother’s Day brunch with my family. Overall the ambience is nice, we were seated promptly with our reservation time, things tasted fine, and some workers were nice(others were just ok). I felt like the hostess wasn’t the nicest person in the world, one of them was semi-friendly, the other seemed like she hated her life. Our waiter was ok, but he couldn’t hear us at all(the restaurant being so open I guess makes it difficult) so my niece kinda gave up on asking for things she wanted… like ordering a coffee. I loved the popover guy. I mean, not only was he bringing us yummy warm popovers and strawberry butter, but he could hear us and he spoke loudly so we could hear him, and he was very friendly. Overall, I would probably eat here again. Do I think it’s worth the price… no. Do I think anything about the place is stellar? No. But everything is decent, and that’s not a bad thing. I do have to say that the popovers when they are warm, are delicious! I came here once before because my friend RAVED about them, and when I had it it was dry and crappy, this time, it was SOOOOO good! Warm and not overdone. It was great! I especially love that when they give you a second one, they replace your strawberry butter with a new one! That’s awesome :) Also, skip the dessert. We had the Thai Panna Cotta and the Malted Milk Bars. It was just alright. Milk Bars needed ice cream or more of a crunch or something. Thai Panna Cotta was ok, very buko pandan-ish, but nothing I NEED in my life. And with dessert, I feel like when I order a dessert from a restaurant, it should be stellar and happy-belly-dance worthy. These were just ok. I’d skip the dessert and wander around the mall for something better.

I had no idea about this place until the two ladies I was flying with told me about their plans to go for lunch. So, being a good Captain, I had to accompany them. We had to wait until they opened at 1100, but it was worth the wait. The starter popovers were good, but I thought the signature cup of consommé was odd, but good as well. We all had the same thing… Lobster Club Sandwich. We had been talking and drooling about this all the way on the flight from SoCal. It didn’t disappoint. A huge green salad came with it, and I was happy about that. The sandwich itself was as tasty as advertised. I can’t wait to go back for some of the other delicious looking items on the menu.
