Absolutely awful. My wife and I ordered chicken bowls and had to double check with the counter girl to be assured the meat in them was actually chicken. No exaggeration.

Worst L&L Ive been to in my life. Overpriced small portions of food. I ordered their Chicken Katsu which is thined out in half & they obviously add water to their Katsu sauce which is watered out without flavor. How cheap can you be

I definitely give this place five stars because when I went in on my lunch break, everything went well. The cashier was able to explain the difference between the mini and regular, other than the price difference. After I ordered my food, I waited for about five minutes and she called out my mini chicken katsu. Before handing me my plate with or without a bag, she asked me if I was doing take-out and I said yes. I think it is good customer service to ask small questions like that rather than assuming. I may have got my food quickly because I took a late lunch at about 4:30pm, but this wait time was still unexpected. Even after the short wait time, my food was hot and delicious and it tasted fresh to me. They definitely deserved the rating they got.

My husband and I are visiting from California and patronized this establishment. We were very excited to have a meal from L&L considering that we love to eat here in California. I am astounded at how I accommodating and rude this staff is. I paid for a chicken bowl and made a simple request that INSTEAD of the chicken I paid for, I would prefer cabbage instead. Now only did they refuse my request, they did so in such a rude manner. I am extremely disappointed and even asked for my money back. What a joke this place is. Whoever management is needs to speak with their staff in regards to how to provide satisfactory customer service.

This place is so slow. I have seen 6 other people who picked up their food before me. The customer service is bad and they are somewhat rude. I didn’t understand what the cashier was saying… And I was just trying to get my food.

I love this place. Always welcoming. Reasonable prices(please keep in mind this is Ward) the only time there is a long wait is when their packed and thats understandable. Portion size of food is great. They have seating inside and out. They have a healthy food menu but honestly I wouldn’t know how good it is because I don’t eat off of it as I should LOL I love this L& L Hard workers just doing their best. I only go on Fridays and Saturdays so I don’t know the other workers.

Love to eat here, except that I wish they would include tofu dishes in their menu. The workers are friendly and would substitute rice for lettuce.

Ordered the mini garlic ahi and it was a more like a regular plate. Lots of parking in the Office Depot parking lot. High traffic restaurant so they need to pay better attention to cleaning the tables as soon as they flip.

I was actually looking for the elusive saimin burger. Unfortunately, they don’t serve them at this location. However, I opted for a teriyaki chicken bowl. Tender chicken and nice crisp vegetables. Friendly service is always a plus! Great place for a quick bite to eat!

Super delicious Chicken Katsu Saimin. This L&L is the bomb… best on Oahu! The food is always fresh tasting & the place is clean. I’m always impressed with how they add a FRESH, SPECIALLOOKING green salad to all their plate entrees:)) Been coming to this Ward Complex L&L since they opened and I’ll keep on coming:))

Frst time for me at this L&L… since I’m usually a creature of habit. My better half usually comes here for catering pans when he has events at the office, and he says that they have reasonable prices and generous portions… what else could I want… The establishment is clean and cool early this morning. They have a pretty extensive breakfast menu… but the go-to breakfast of Champions(err… superheroes — as I refer to my man) is saimin and spam musubi. Saimin is consistent L&L ‘min but the spam musubi is a lot of rice… the menu description states«block of rice» and it is a LOTOF rice. Both items look delish — but I’m a traditionalist, and prefer eggs and crispy pork product for my first meal(bacon — extra crispy please!). Can’t help it — grew up with Dennys, Coco’s and IHOP(y’know what I mean — CALI). The cashier and cook were both really friendly! Kind of reminded me of my Chinese aunties and uncles. They may sound rude, but they’re not — that’s just how they talk. Will we be back??? — definitively YES!!!

The Ward location is my favorite. Lots of food! Way more than other area L&L’s. Food is always good.

I’m going to go ahead and trademark what they sell as «mega-subis.» These are not your average musubi, ladies and gents. Take your average fare and multiply it times two. These things are full meals practically. Anyway, we got a chicken katsu and a teriyaki chicken musubi. These delicious meats came on a BRICK of rice. The flavor was spot on, but the seaweed wrap was lacking and didn’t even go fully around those brick of rice and meat. For sides we got french fries(standard out the frozen bag kind, sadly) and some killer delicious mac salad. That mac salad is only $ 1.25 and would make your aunty weep with pride.

I like this L&L because of it’s convenient location. It’s right along Kamakee street right around the vicinity of stores like Office Depot, Ward Center, Starbucks, and all those other shops around the area. Parking is real convenient if you are driving because you can just park at the parking lot either right next to the Office Depot area or anywhere near Ward. Another think that I like is that they have signs all over the place highlighting different food menu options. Sometimes I feel that what if they have it up just to promote the menu item? You know how like L&L does that, thinking that it’s on special but when you really think about it, the price that you are paying for just seems like it’s a regular food price item? For example, there was one time recently I went to there and saw a sign for Chicken Katsu Curry bowl for about $ 5.95 or so. Psychologically you might be thinking it’s a special price but maybe not? Well that’s around the cost of a mini bowl anyway and it was broke da mouth kine action so whateves’! Anyways, the staff and customer service is pretty good. They have a decent amount of table and seating areas although the shop is a bit on the smaller scale side.

During particularly stressful or bad days at work, I find myself wishing that my office place didn’t have such a strict«no drinking in the work place policy,» but because I value my employment and would prefer not to be known as the«lady who got fired for drinking from a flask,» sometimes I do the next best thing and drown my sorrows in chicken katsu curry and a vat of delicious macaroni salad. The one thing I’ve learned about this L&L is that not all L&Ls are created equal. For one, this L&L does not make me feel like I may or may not get salmonella(+1 one star), secondly the food is always cooked and served to temperature(+1 star), and finally the staff here doesn’t treat you like they would like to beat you with a baseball bat for coming in and giving them your business(+1 star). Now trust me when I say I’ve been into some SHADDDY L&L’s where I’ve run for the hills, and this is NOT that kind of place. This L&L is clean, on point and they can turn my frown upside down. Is it gourmet? Sure the hell isn’t, but when I can’t drink vodka at work, chicken katsu curry does the trick.

Don’t believe for one second that their«healthy plate» is actually healthy. I ordered their stir fried garlic shrimp healthy plate and I saw them throw the shrimps in the deep fryer before sautéing them with garlic. I am almost certain that every thing goes through the deep fryer before being served. With that in mind, the healthy plate itself was actually very delicious. The shrimp was crispy and flavored well and served on a huge bed of fresh lettuce with tomatoes and some beans and a scoop of brown rice. It seems like this franchise is one of the better ones based on the other reviews. I would recommend going here due to their convenient location, ample parking, and overall decent quality food for their price.

Here is my go to for when I am early to a movie. Cook time is really reasonable, 3 to 5 min for breakfast even with a full dining room and then about 10 to 15 min for dinner. Servers are on the older, unhip, Philippine side–(it is a family Philinno owned so it is really understandable here in HI) but if I was a tourist from the mainland and tried to understand the server I would see my mom and dad at lest give up and go to somewhere else to eat since the service is only so so. I can see my mom especially going down to kakaako kitchen as this really is a tourist/hipster mall. I get it and I am not complaining but I would understand any bad reviews about this place because it can be seen as negative. I tried to order one night the mahi mahi. She took my order– and then I look at the far far left of me and see the sign says that they are out of mahi mahi– why didn’t she say when I started to order that you are out of the dish if you know I am a LOCAL and know what mahi mahi is!!! OK back to the dishes– instead of Mahi Mahi– it is a swas or ause or something that I have never heard of(as a Peace Corps Volunteer that has eaten fish in the pacific for years and I know my fish both alive and dead what they look like and cook like) I have never heard of this kind of fish– when you have a puzzled customer — explain what kind of fish it is without saying only it is fish and it is fried. Shrimp is good and cooked well. Fried, fresh or made to order in cater plates it is usually really good. Chicken Katsu(fried in a Japanese style) is really what I would recommend to tourists or friends that have never had L&L. Burgers are normal but really better than McD. Don’t think you will be impressed though. Mac and rice is normally served along side everything. I had a Portuguese omelet– it had vegs in it and very little cheese. The vegs seemed to only be onion barley caramelized and zucchini in small thin slices. The port sausage were pretty good if I picked through it but the other stuff was something left to be desired. Fast turn around time though. The fountain drink station here has some normal sodas but also some bottles and sobe water type drinks that people seem to really grab and go to drink along with their food– maybe people are getting sick of the plain old pepsi and a plate. I go there often enough but would go other places if there were more choices in the area within walking distance of the movies that make food as fast on short notice. Also this place does not have the saimin burger– the servers told me they were out the different times I asked and always they tell me to go to Walmart. Great good thing I’m local and know what they are talking about otherwise there were go again on the lack of English clarity skills and good customer service.

Not all L&L’s are the same. This one, located in Ward, serves the biggest portions. Order a mini plate lunch and you’ll receive your food in a large styrofoam box! Instead of one«ice cream» scoop of rice, you get a generous scoop and a half! As I was there, the customers ahead of me and behind all ordered the chicken katsu. Myself included! The orders are fried to order, so they come out pipping hot, crispy, well-seasoned and overall enjoyable.

Unilocal 365: 044⁄365 One of the smallest L&L’s on the island, but one of the best. I mean this when I say service and(kind of surprisingly) quality of food. The food is pretty good here. Same quality as any Zippy’s I have ever been to on this island; and I have been to them all! Their Hawaiian menu is big on value; especially at the rate this establishment sells it for. The specials change, I am not sure how frequent, but they do change regularly. Comparing the other L&L’s I have been to, I have to agree with Eva and say this is(if not the best) one of the best L&L’s on this island. I said kind of surprising in my opener because it is not that surprising seeing as it is in Ward, and it must keep up most of the image of Ward. The service here is optimal for a L&L establishment. Most of them I have been to have less than adequate workers with people who work with faces showing their disgust; scaring away customers. If they do not want to work there, then quit; or duct tape their lips in an upward direction. I thank God that the workers here do not need the duct tape. They are wonderful workers who make you feel welcome and upkeep the store real well. Happy Unilocaling everyone!
