I always have a favorite Korean place in town. My long time favorite is Best DriveIn on Sand Island Road but I live in Waikiki, so I go to other places close to town. Now my favorite is BBQ Express in Ward Warehouse. Great side, panchan, great ko chee jung. Very consistent. Not too hot, not too cold. This is all time great.

My GOTO lunch spot everytime I’m at ward. I always get the meat jun plate with corn and potato salad. It’s something with the potato salad it’s just delicious! The taste is different from every other Korean BBQ.

Crappiest place to go. Teri Beef bowl wasn’t even in a bowl. The Teri Beef and Broccoli was cold. Asked the lady of the food should be cold she went in the back and came back and said the sauce makes the food cold. So I said in a second, the food gets cold and she said yes! I asked for my money back and she said she can make me a new one. I told her, you give me a Bullshit answer, you think I want another one? I asked for my money back. Terrible excuse. This place Korean BBQ Express and Brian’s Hawaiian Kitchen have the same rude workers, 2 Korean ladies. They always close early and are lazy!

Lunch was great! I got the spicy pork, but it’s not spicy… maybe a little sweet, if anything. They don’t give you much rice, but the sides are good! The people are really nice!

We like their food. We order for our BNI(Business Networking International Day) Extravaganza with 50 – 75 people and they hook us up. It is great!

Great price for bi bim bap. However the low star review is for not taking orders twenty minutes before closing. I went up to the window at 8:40 pm and the woman said it was almost 9 pm so they weren’t taking orders.

Very reasonable prices. Delicious sides. There was no line when I came here foe lunch. I ordered the mini meat jun. I was impressed by the selection of sides. Everything looked fresh. I was inpressed by the kim chee pancake. It was perfectly moiste and had the right amount of kim chee. Only disappointment is that I only got 2 pieces of meat jun. I’d still return.

Working in the area, I think I’ve pretty much eaten my way through the food court at Ward Center. When I first started my job, I was given the«scoop» on certain restaurants in the food court regarding who to trust, and who to stay away from due to some not so pleasant experiences in the past, and since everyone in the office(and everyone in general) always seemed to flock here, this place has quickly become my go to «gee I really don’t want to eat what I brought with me for lunch» spot. On any given week day, Korean BBQ Express is guaranteed to have a line, which trust me is a good things. They have daily specials which range from chicken katsu to squid, and if you go after 4:00pm the bi bim bap is only $ 3.99 which seriously, is the best deal out there. For $ 1 more, you can add four pieces of mandoo to any combination plate, They also have a pretty expansive selection of side items with my favorites being the fish cakes, bean sprouts, cellophane noodles, omelet, zucchini and the kimchi cucumber. I have tried their BBQ beef(bulgogi), the bi bim bap and the beef jun all of which have been good. The mini plate is more than enough for lunch and includes two side items, and a scoop of rice. Brown rice is available for an additional charge. Make sure to bring cash.

Lot’s of Korean places in Honolulu but I like the meat here the best. Seems like a better cut of chicken/beef/whatever and less fat. Sides are good but probably not as good or plentiful as Yummy’s at Don Quixote or some of the other sit-down places. A great place if you are near Ward/Ala Moana. Wish there were some like this on da mainland!

A quick and simple dinner. Got this bi bim koo plate: beef, spicy hot noodle, and some veggies on top. Dannng, ate the whole thing and my mouth was burning. I love spicy, but that was just too much. It was a bit salty. Next time, I’m sticking with the mandoo and noodle soup.

Great place to grab a quick bite of local-style Korean take-out. The mini is a good deal if you don’t want leftovers. I don’t recall seeing cold tofu but I wish more Korean take out places would have that as a side. Their meat jun, although thin, had no chewy fat parts so that’s a plus. 4 stars for the convenience and price.

Love this place! This is one of my favorite places to stop by during my lunch break that comes around once in a blue moon, lolz. Anyway, what draws my attention to this place is the value of it all. Mini plates on average only go for $ 6.50! Plus the portions are generous; the mini plate alone keeps me full for hours. Only drawback I’d say is that the place is cash only, and sometimes I am not always carrying cash. Also, It’s always fun to talk with the owner, she is really warm and welcoming. I recommend the Kal-Bi, it is divine! :)

My mom raved about this place. I’m thinking it’s gotta be about the relationship she’s built with the owner… because it isn’t about the food. It’s decent… and runs a close second to Yummy Korean BBQ. For some reason, they douse the clear noodles with pepper… bleh! .and they are ridiculously stingy with providing a cup of water. My shih tzu drinks more water at one sitting than what they give you in a tiny dixie cup. I won’t be back.

To continue my recent tear of Korean BBQ or «Korean fast food» joints, I hit up this hole the wall place. I has the BBQ chicken plate and the $ 4 bibimbap(after 4pm). I know that’s a lot of food, stop making me feel bad. The BBQ chicken was standard, but portions were generous. All the usual sides, but I think they do there potatoes exceptionally well. And the $ 4 bibimbap, seriously where else can you get that. I will be coming back to this place for a quick fix. They also have a daily special as well that they rotate. Things like a chicken curry bowl and other smaller random items.

Good food, Your typical plate lunch place. Prices are reasonable, and the selection is moderate. I’m a huge Sam’s Deli fan, so this meets only some of the standards that have been set forth. The side selection isn’t as vast, but I like the kimchee more.

Wow! I tried their mini Kalbi plate and was pretty impressed. i got 2 big pieces of kalbi, one scoop of rice and 2 veggie choices. I got the bean sprouts and mac salad. They gave me a hearty serving of both veggies. The sprouts were nice and crunchy and not overly seasoned. the mac salad was nice and simple. Not overly dressed which was nice. But it was a little heavy on the mayo. The kalbi was extremely tasty. Right down to the bone. The meat was nice and tender and moist. I will definitely eat here again. Quick, didn’t break the bank and satisfied my taste buds.
