I’ve been a fan for years. Very tasty smoked ahi. The stores used to run out of it fast. Now it seems the demand is being met. The reasons I don’t give it a 5 star rating is because it could use a change in the kind oil used, and one must be careful with smoked foods because they constrict the throat and breath. Smaller portions are better, afterall it is a gourmet treat. Problem is it tastes so good it’s really hard to stop eating it!

Stopped by the local grocery store today to get some«healthy» staples… bananas, vegetable, tofu… and what a nice surprise to bump into a friend I hadn’t seen in at least a few months. Thank you Claire for showing me this delicious spread that as you say, «every time you see it you get at least one container!» So of course, I ran over to the seafood section and found, exactly where you said it would be, KHF Smoked Ahi Spread. …Wanted to make sure in the few moments it took for us to talk talk talk… there wouldn’t be a run on this interesting looking delicacy. Took it home and quickly rearranged my plans for home cooked meal. The star was the Smoked Ahi Spread… and what in my home would compliment it? Ohh yes, Tostitos(hah, try not to keep toooo much«stuff» only the essentials). To balance it out, lightly stirfried some fresh spinach and garlic. This spread brought back memories of many years ago when Hoku’s @ the then Kahala Hilton Hotel used to serve their smoked ahi spread predinner. Thank you Times for carrying this deliciousness in your chiller in the front of the store. Thank you Claire for sharing this info… ohhh, ok confession time. I actually peaked in your wagon. I will forever be a changed foodie. :) Yummmm !!

Yes this Ahi spread is pretty darn good. I just wish they used a different type of oil or one that is non GMO or no oil if possible, I think currently it contains soybean oil. Anyhow, besides that the dip is like crack, I’ve never done crack, but I think maybe that’s what it’s like. Once I start eating it, I can’t stop. And, every time I walk by it in Times supermarket I have to stop and stare and re-live those fond memories we have had together over the last few years. I don’t buy it every time I’m in the store, but I at least think about every time I walk by that end stand. I wish they would put it back in some dark, distant corner of the store so I would not be tempted. So take the red pill? or eat the Ahi tuna spread and your life will never be the same. You choose.

We’ve been a fan of this Ahi Spread for … over 5 years, maybe 10 years. This is great on crackers with wine or soda. $ 6.99 for 8 oz. You can get this at Fujioka Wine Store at Market City, Tamura’s Wine Store at Waialae, R. Field in FoodLand Beretania. Warning: Probably high calorie. Unilocal365 — 184⁄365
